MimMac

KEMACSABE  Certainly a user-friendly app. I'm still in the Trial mode (20 days to try it out!) and I find it fairly easy to go through. The quick-start guide is very helpful, especially the info on how to create a bootable clone. I've only had one question for the developer so far and I got a reply in less than an hour. Service. The one item missing thus far is an automated backup feature that lets you define when auto backups will occur; developer is working on that. Currently, some folks are using Applescript to do this. For the price, MimMac is clean, clear, and sleak. It's definitely growing in the right direction. I'll be purchasing the single-user license, I'm sure.

CarryOut Lite

KEMACSABE  Just installed this and works pretty well, esp. given the price (FREE!) -- It's very simple and user friendly, meaning even I can walk my way through it. I was looking for an easy "To Do List"-maker and here it is. Only problem is providing feedback to the developer: the built-in feedback feature opens in Preferences and asks for your email address, SMPT host, your server User name and Password. I appreciate an automated service, but no one should provide anyone with that info. I can't find any other way to contact the developer; there's nothing else in the app that I can find, and the only Contact I find on the website is for donation thru PayPal. Oh, a snail-mail address. Developer: if you read this, please provide an email address so we can give you feedback.

CarryOut Lite

JVENDRYES  Hi, Thank you for the wonderful review of CarryOut! You should know that we are removing the way the feedback options are handled in the next release. We will no longer be storing the username or password on the computer. Alternatively, you can send us feedback by emailing us at feedback@carryoutlite.com and eventually we will implement this function directly into our website!

We appreciate your feedback and want you to know we have a great new release coming out shortly. Keep your eyes open!

Yum

KEMACSABE  Running Yum 0.7.14 and just downloaded 1.1, hence a question: Is there anything special I need to do to upgrade aside from backing up my recipe collection? Do I Trash the older version before dragging the new one to the Applications folder? The only oddball thing that I've experienced with this version is that when I launch Yum, a Finder window opens to locate the document. I would think there would be an automatic link to the file to open without having to search for it. Maybe 1.1 fixes this?

KEMACSABE  I first tried this when it was freeware under the name SafariSorter. But I love this thing! I have no regrets buying the license. It runs in the background and I always can easily find my bookmarks...and I have a ton of 'em! I do lots of research and reference in my job. It's easy to use, very user friendly.

KEMACSABE  Looked like fun so I downloaded it. It's just as easy as the developer claims! Kind of fun and will be useful for making gift CDs and even classy back-up CDs. Cool! One correction, guys: "Donationware" is freeware with a request for voluntary donations. If the user is obligated to pay in order to obtain normal (even limited) usage, that's "shareware". HNY! charges $5 to register, which is required to use the current year's settings (a pretty big limitation). (Hey, MacUpdate: do you provide a definitions guide?)
