Illuminated Clock Screensaver | Sep 6 2009 |
KAYEL I think I would find it actually annoying if the clock moved around. I have mine set to sleep the display after an hour or so, so I am not worried about burn-in. I suppose if you didn't want the display to ever sleep there would be a danger. I just like the clock to appear when I am out of the room for a few minutes or so. I love it! Thanks to the developer for getting it working in Snow Leopard! Better install procedure, too. (Version 1.4)

TrailRunner | Nov 20 2008 |
KAYEL This app works great with the iPhone and iTrail. I am still discovering features and I find it very useful to track my workouts and map my progress in training off-road. In addition, the developer is very responsive and helpful. Definitely worth a try. Thumbs up. (Version 1.8v292)

DoBeDo Widget | Nov 29 2007 |
KAYEL I was disappointed at first that DoBeDo wasn't available for Leopard, but now I have started using Mail for my ToDos, and now I couldn't care less that DoBeDo won't be available for 10.5. Mail works great and I always have it open anyway. One less process running on my machine. (Version 3.1)

SOHO Notes | Oct 12 2007 |
KAYEL have just installed Soho Notes 6.5.1 and now my Dock Note bar doesn't show up until I click on the menu icon. When I enable the "hiding" function, the dock notes migrate across the screen if I click on the tab or try to adjust the size. It just moves left until it falls off the screen and then the only way I can seem to get it back is to disable "Turn hiding on". I hope this is easy to fix. My mac is a PowerBook G4 1.67 ghz with 10.4.10 (Version 6.5.1)

Little Snitch | Sep 2 2007 |
KAYEL After rebooting, I notice that now the "real" memory is quite low, and it is only the virtual memory that is significant. That's not a problem for me. It is looking like a very good upgrade. (Version 2.0b6)

KAYEL Does anyone else find it a bit disturbing how much memory v2 uses compared to v 1? Otherwise it is vastly improved. I hope the memory can be reduced in future versions. (Version 2.0b6)

Apple Safari | Jun 12 2007 |
KAYEL Causes trouble with some widgets. Canada 411 doesn't work, for example. Otherwise, an improvement, in that some sites that didn't work before now work. There is some funny business with buttons on some sites. Some are randomly aqua buttons, and some aren't... (Version 3.0b)

Apple iTunes | Mar 5 2007 |
KAYEL I wish people weren't so grumpy. iTunes 7 works perfectly with my G4 powerbook. Apple does a great job of optimizing with successive releases of it's software, and don't forget, while Soundjam and so on were shareware, we get this great program for free! I think this is great update. (Version 7.1)

Apple Backup | Mar 2 2007 |
KAYEL You can easily create your own custom backup plan which can include whatever you wish to backup, including the contents of your entire hard disk, if you like. You don't have to just go with the defaults. They are simply there to make it easy to get started. (Version 3.1.1)

Apple Backup | Mar 1 2007 |
KAYEL I like Backup because it is tidy and allows as much or as little customization as I like. It is easy to use and it works. I have restored from it successfully several times. I particularly like that it gives the option of choosing from several versions of any given file, based on the date. That way, in case I backup something that is not quite right, I still have an earlier version that I like to choose from instead. So I can't overwrite a good file with a bad one, just because it's newer. I like it. (Version 3.1.1)

Amazing Slow Downer X | Jan 10 2007 |
KAYEL MOK.IN TOUCH is out of touch. This is a great program that does exactly the right things for musicians who like to transcribe fast or difficult passages. Quicktime Pro will do similar things, but is awkward and imprecise, whereas ASD allows for very precise control over speed, pitch, looping and so on. I think that most of the negative comments I have seen here are the expression of ignorance (I mean that in the nicest possible way). As a professional musician who does a lot of transcribing, I highly recommend it. I have Quicktime Pro and it doesn't cut it for this kind of thing. The new version is a great improvement. It works fine on my G4 and my old G3. (Version 3.0.8)

NOCTAMBULUS You're the one who's out of it, if you don't understand the concept of the value-judgment. Some feel that this software is overpriced for what it does. I happen to agree with them. If you like the software and feel that it is worth the price, then that's fine. Please, though, don't pretend that your opinion is any more valid than anyone else's when it comes to evaluating the price-to-quality ratio of this software. (And by the way, your being a professional musician doesn't give your opinion any more weight than anyone else's). (Version 3.2.5.2)

The Missing Sync for Palm OS | Sep 7 2006 |
KAYEL Sounds to me like a problem with the Palm itself. I am using the same gear with no trouble at all. If the Palm crashes and doesn't respond to a hard reset, then take it back and get a new one. It should be no real problem, if you did a good backup of your palm first, which it sounds like you did. (Version 5.1.1)

Quicken 2007 | Feb 18 2006 |
KAYEL Yeah; I, too have installed it without a hitch and it is also running all of my many accounts without problems so far. In fact, I am rather puzzled when I look at all of the negative comments, considering my own experience. I have been using Quicken since my first iMac came with it 6 years ago. Never had a problem, really. What gives? (Version R4)

DRG Happily you've never had to deliver your file to an accountant. What's with all these accountants? They ALL use Windows-based computers! My guess is you've never had to convert your data to the Windows format. Try it sometime (and weep!) Every year Intuit "updates" Quicken. Every review each year says there is little new in the updated version. So why update? The Mac version is not as comprehensive as the PC version, is not compatible with the PC version, is not a universal application (and may never become one), has the same annoyances update after update, and is generally full of new bugs each year that are not resolved until the end of the year when it's time to update to a "new" version which starts the same problem again. You know the expression: There's a sucker born every minute! (Version R2)

Solo Performer Show Controller | Feb 17 2006 |
KAYEL I object to the concept. I think real musicians should perform without crutches. Or training wheels. Why not hire a band? I guarantee a real band will be much more interesting to listen to and watch. Yikes... (Version 3.0)

CHAMPAņA ARAUZ Sorry to read that you feel this way about a working solo musician. Yeah, ideally it would be great to work with a band, but the reallity is that that isn't always the case. If you feel so strongly about that issue, then why do you use the computer. Is it a "crutch"? I don't think so my friend. We all use it for different reasons, but in the end we all want to make better what we do. The creativity of the musician is still at stake no matter what "crutches" (s)he uses, and in the end, (s)he has to produce and share with the listener the experience and the vision that the individual has. If due to cost, location, atmosphere, tastes and most importantly, availability of other musicians of your choice that share the same vision as you are not available, the show must go on with or without them. Getting your idea out is the most important thing and if an application helps to do that, great. (Version 3.3)
