KOINGO SOFTWARE The software, according to our testing, is already Mac OS X 10.6 ready. If you are encountering any problems, please report them via the support form on our web site. Also, if you have suggestions on how to improve the GUI, by all means, do let us know. With over 900 features (100s more than the nearest competitor), you will find yourself hard pressed to find a better way to present the features. As for the comment about being a Windows-rooted developer, Koingo Software was Mac-first in 1994, and it has been our primary operating system right through today. Our entire staff are running MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and use Windows under emulation only to test the PC computerparts a select few of our titles have. (Version 3.3.2)

KOINGO SOFTWARE For those who missed it in the release notes during Software Update, or those who have not yet upgraded, Alarm Clock Pro 9 is a paid upgrade. This is the first paid upgrade to Alarm Clock Pro in 10 years, and we thank everyone for their support! Version 9.0 from the last 8.x release is primarily a bug fix release; however, we have big plans for it in the coming months, so please stay tuned. In fairness, we'll also be releasing a new 8.x point release containing these same bug fixes so that customers remaining on 8.x will have a final stable version of the product. Buyers of Alarm Clock Pro 8 on or after January 1, 2009, can obtain a free license at the link below. Also, all other users can use the same form to proceed to a paid upgrade page. http://www.koingosw.com/store-upgrade.php Upgrades are free for any buyers of the Utility Package, and the license should automatically be in your account. For users wishing to remain on version 8 and inadvertently upgraded, please contact us, and we'll offer you an 8.x download link. (Version 9.0)

PHILIPT18 I think what people are upset about is not that you switched to shareware, but how you did it. It would have made more sense to rename AirRadar to AirRadar 2 or something and allow the previous version to exist independently as a free product, unsupported. It also would have made sense to add one major feature to the new version, as an incentive to pay for it over the previous free version. (Version 1.1.7)

FELIX01 "Tough economic times" is a two-way street...affects users as well. Considering the few times per year I use AirRadar, it'd be worth two or three bucks to me but not $10. I'll continue using version 1.1.5 as long as it functions properly and meets my needs. After that, back to one of the free alternatives. (Version 1.1.6)

AirRadar | May 17 2009 |
SNOWWHITESICKETTE Felix01 is right about bad economic times being a two-way street. I would think that a recession is a time to lower prices, not raise them. So many people have seen investments disappear, salaries shrink, lost their homes or even lost their jobs altogether. I doubt those people will be buying a lot of unnecessary software. Yes, I get that developers hurt too. But opting to charge for a program that was free at the worst possible time may backfire, and cause the customers to disappear in droves. The time to raise prices are when the economy is stable and people can afford to pay. Considering this app was free, it wasn't generating a dime of revenue in the first place. I suspect that the developer has considered how appealing an application of this nature would be to people who've been hit hard by the bad economy. I hope not, but it makes sense. Vultures are the vilest creatures in the air, and MY radar tells me there's one hovering above us now. All I have to do is click on the AirPort icon in my menu bar, and instantly about seven wireless networks are available as options. (That's why my network is hidden, closed to all but computers I specify manually, and password protected.) I am sure that AirRadar does more than AirPort, but AirPort doesn't cost anything extra and if all you want is to join an open network, it'll do that. (Version 1.1.7)

KOINGO SOFTWARE While there have been a couple Leopard bugs which have needed to be fixed, the bulk of the updates are to add new Leopardy features! We'd rather get these out the door right away, than have users wait for months between releases. We fix bugs in the application as quickly as possible, and considering the nature of the application, we believe it is better to have those fixes in the hands of users as soon as possible instead of having potential hazards existing out in the open for prolonged periods of time. Before each release, we do our best to check compatibility with both Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5, and are not aware of any current incompatibilities. Mac Pilot is safe to use on both Leopard and Tiger. The only note for concern is users who are manually editing their Advanced Network Settings. Quite simply put, if you don't know what you're doing, use one of the network optimization presets, or don't edit them at all! Please heed the warning on that panel. Changing socket sizes, and timeouts too low can cause your applications to stop responding and even prevent a boot. Please do some research before plunking in new numbers for fun! Keep in mind that even as user friendly that we've made Mac Pilot, there are some features like Advanced Network Settings, which should only be tinkered with by users with an expert understanding of the values they're changing. MACNEWS [Please allow me to preface my comments with the fact that I have thoroughly enjoyed the use of this, and other, Koingo products; this being the first real issue I've had with any of them.] That said, however, Splunk23's 'system hosing' -- though I'm not sure the cause was the same -- happened to me in LEOPARD -- glutton for punishment that I am -- three straight times (Mac Pilot 2.4). I've not tried subsequent version revisions, being a bit gunshy at the moment; but the issue seems to have been related to the enabling of NewReno. This has not been an issue in the past. The problem did not begin until I restarted my machine. It became stuck in an endless boot-loop, which no amount of single-user damage control was able to correct. While I'm sure not everyone will be able to replicate this problem, it *is* there. For those of you who *do* encounter this problem, I *highly* recommend *against* using the Migration Assistant during the clean install. I hope this will help in some way, in the event it turns out to be more than a user-specific isolated incident. (Version 2.4.4)

I am a customer of you as long as I possess a Mac. I had never anything to regret or to complain. But today I have to find, that there suddenly seem some comments that critizise Mac Pilot seem simply to vanish. The author had claimed some conspiracy that I did not really believe. But his last comment were not unreasonable and he had backed up his claims with some error messages. May I ask, why this posting suddenly vanished too instead of posting an answer? I can understand, that this customer perhaps was too angry and had some issue with you (or you with him), but simply deleting posts instead of answering is not a very friendly or professional behavior. And I asked -- for instance -- that the author claimed network problems under Tiger whereas you answered, that you had not any problem under Leopard. I mentioned that you answer was not paying attention to the poster as the platform was not right. Furthermore I asked if there is really any issue with Mac Pilot under Tiger? No answer from you so far.

MACNEWS I've used some of the non OS X-default RFC's and NewReno without issue for quite some time; and my subsequently improved network performance has led me to continue this practice; long prior to the introduction of Mac Pilot which, I might add, I find to be the best OS X system maintenance utility available. I don't believe that Leopard has changed significantly enough under the hood so as to render my OS install inoperable when it comes to these particular network settings; settings which I've safely used for quite a while, and now use via Mac Pilot, which makes adjusting these values much more convenient. What I am NOT trying to do is demean your product, nor scare anyone away from using it. I believe most are aware that some pitfalls and anomalies are to be expected with the introduction of a new OS, along with corresponding third-party compatibility upgrades and new feature additions. My point in posting my problem was to hopefully get to the bottom of the issue so that I can continue to use Mac Pilot as my maintenance utility of choice, rather than having to resort to other means in order to adjust some of these settings. It would seem from my vantage point that the problem stemmed more from the actual *trigger* for implementing NewReno, than the actual setting itself, as I have been able to successfully utilize this, and other, options via IPNetTuner with no adverse side-effects; though I would *much* rather be able to accomplish this, and my other maintenance wants/needs via one utility, hence my selection of Mac Pilot. In summary, my intent was not to criticize, but to get to the bottom of the problem, while attempting to help those who might be experiencing the same issue to avoid any unnecessary and frustrating redundancies. SPLUNK_23 I hope enough people saw the important information before it was deleted. At least chin knows I'm not making things up. And of course I was upset. I had to reinstall Mac OS X, something that shouldn't have to be done (unless by choice). I also would like to make it clear. I did not use the "Advanced" network settings. In fact I didn't even change anything. All I did was open up Mac Pilot and noticed that "Optimize for Broadband" was no longer there, only the text that says it is automatically configured now. At that point my Internet connection no longer worked. When I restarted my Mac, it never made it to the login window and there was some messages in verbose mode about a network socket error configuring IPv4 and IPv6. Yes, I called the developer an A*****e. It's his fault I had to reinstall Tiger. And that was only after his attitude that chin also pointed out. I said that it made Tiger non-functional and he replies that it works fine on Leopard…!? By deleting every post I make, you are only increasing the odds that it happens to someone else. You can't remove the memories of the previous posts form other readers heads, nor from other sites. I can make new accounts here until the cows come home too and keep informing people of this malicious software and to be cautious when using version 2.4 - Mac Pilot is a great program with more features than anything else like it, but it does have one serious issue that will hopefully get fixed soon. And a message to the Admin: Just because you didn't have to reinstall Tiger after using Mac Pilot does not make my accusation false. But as far as being a conspiracy, prove me wrong and don't delete this! (Version 2.4.4)

KOINGO SOFTWARE You can now remove Mac Pilot's modifications WITHOUT having to buy the program once the trial has expired.
