JON_WHITE_BW  I appreciate this is a very early version, but having to manually enter the programs you wish it to remind you of by hand is utterly archaic. I don't see how this is better than simply entering recurring events in iCal.

Worth looking at when/if the developer figures out how to scrape the various web sources for TV schedules or implements XMLTV support. Until then it doesn't really solve the basic problem.

DRDUL  I downloaded version 0.3, but for the life of me, could not figure out how to add a series automatically with info from the Internet. For example, I want to add seasons 1 and 2 of "Leverage." If I click the plus button to add the name of the show, it would be nice at that point to be able to search for the show in some online database, and have all episodes from seasons 1 and 2 (including episodes that haven't aired yet) added automatically. I couldn't find anything in any of the dialog boxes which would provide this kind of search-and-insert functionality.

JON_WHITE_BW  From the software's own description of how to play HD media back on a PS3, it's not doing anything you couldn't do with HandBrake, which costs considerably less than 40 dollars.

As for saving media out of FCP or the like to play on a PS3 - you just have to export it as H264 MP4, or in something that you can then feed into any one of the video conversion tools that are already available, so this isn't doing anything you can't already do for free.

Frankly, this looks like a solution looking for a problem, or at least for a problem that's already been pretty much solved.

JON_WHITE_BW  Am I being foolish, or is this doing something that you can't do by typing 'backupd' into the search field in Console?

JON_WHITE_BW  And Omnigroup have recently made WhatSize freeware too. I think the market's really too crowded for a 'paid for' app of this type to flourish, sadly.

HANANH  You mean OmniDiskSweeper by OmniGroup - yeah the ninjas at Omni have made some of their older great software freeware lately - appreciate that step!

But ID-Design has done the contrary way with WhatSize:

The former freeware is now shareware (nagware).

Although there are free alternatives yes true, but this does not mean there is no demand -

If it's a well designed and continuously supported app (made sure it's compatible with the latest Mac OS versions) with additional features it will be great.

JON_WHITE_BW  Update : I deleted the prefs file (which I hadn't done when I installed V3 originally) and the V3 app, reinstalled the V£ app and went to download one of the 'failed' recordings again. The progress bar started at 94% (?) and continued to 100% and now the download plays correctly. I'll try installing Growl and see if that gives me any more information.

JON_WHITE_BW  It did show the progress bar and it took a while to download File is about 200MB for an hour long show. I've since tried another iPlayer downloader and got exactly the same results with that and given the message posted later than mine it seems likely the beeb have changed something again.

I don't usually install Growl so I ticked the box to say don't remind me to do so. Is there any way I can reverse that?

JON_WHITE_BW  Doesn't seem to work at all for me. Seems to download the file correctly, but quicktime player says "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file". Tried a few things, always the same. I have quicktime pro 7.5.5 installed.

MATH CAMPBELL  When you say it is downloading correctly, is it taking a fair while and showing you download progress?

If it just creates a file and doesn't show a progress bag, then it could be failing; this is usually when the BBC haven't made the file available to iPhone users (which is how we get a file)

Try installing the Growl option...

Growl alerts are in the app and tend to give you more awareness of if a download is failing or working...

Hope this helps....
