JON555 Firefox on OS X has never been as good as Firefox on Windows (similar to how Safari on Windows has never been as good as Safari on OS X). It's a shame too, because I really like Firefox. I know 3.7 is going to bring major (and long overdue) UI changes, which is my other major complaint. But it's good to see development is still hard at work, and for that I am grateful. Keep up the good work devs. (Version 3.6b3)

JON555 I'm REALLY awaiting the 3.7 UI change (hopefully the mockup is true). For those unclear of what I'm talking about, check it here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/3.7_Windows_Theme_Mockups (Version 3.6b2)

JON555 This is such an awesome app. I've been using it since the 10.4 Tiger days and it's always worked flawlessly. Feature rich and free as well! My only complaints are that the UI as well as the application's icon itself looks a pretty dated/ugly. But those are minor tid-bits and should not stop anyone from downloading this fantastic app. Keep up the good work devs! (Version 1.3.9)

JON555 This developer charges for what is essentially bug fixes. There have been no notable changes since 2005. The app itself isn't bad, but for a $7 menu bar with a few buttons, you'd expect more. At least update the UI/buttons to something more modern. Don't let the 4 and a half star rating fool you, as most of those high ratings are from 2005. (Version 4.1.1)

JON555 I don't know why there's so much hate towards VLC. It's an awesome player that is incredibly easy to use. You don't have to spend hours messing with settings and junk like that, audio/video is very excellent out of the box. It's feature-rich, free, and consistently updated. It's plays just about everything, and plays it well. It (on some rare occasions) has slight issues with subs, but again, those are rare. This is a fantastic player. Keep up the awesome work devs! DR. GIRLFRIEND I don't see any hate here, just people reporting various problems. That's a good thing, since it helps contribute to the program's improvement. :) Nobody is denying that VLC is an awesome app or that the devs aren't to be commended (it is and they are), but from the comments I've read here and elsewhere, it seems version 1.02 wasn't a very stable release. Adobe Flash Player | Oct 30 2009 |
JON555 Adobe, on the internet, you're one of the most hated companies around. A vast majority of websites use Flash. You've developed Flash for the 3 main platforms (Windows, OS X, and Linux), but that's it. You don't bother to optimize your terrible code, you don't bother to provide consistent updates, hell you don't even bother to post release notes sometimes. So instead of just further throwing your image to the world away and giving everyone a bad impression of you, how about actually trying to support your products. Flash 10 runs terribly even on modern hardware (and even worse when on OS X or Linux, not that the Windows version is that much better). There is ZERO excuse for this. On behalf of myself and the rest of the internet, PLEASE, get your act together. (Version 10.0.32.18)

JON555 This app is a lifesaver. No, really. If you haven't downloaded it yet, do it now. It will save you so much headache it's not even funny. All those flash ads (or any flash for that matter) just looks like an empty box with the Flash symbol in the middle. Nothing Flash-related loads unless you click on it to do so (or you could simply add that site to a list that always allows Flash from that site). It's a fantastic app that's very feature-rich. It has definitely helped my battery's charge to last longer on my MacBook Pro. Keep up the awesome work devs! (Version 1.6b2)

JON555 My biggest beef with this app is, a) it's not updated often enough and, b) the UI and app icon are a bit dated. That said, this is a fantastic burning app that works well and is feature-rich. A great alternative to paying Roxio for Toast. Keep up the awesome work devs! (Version 2.3u)

JON555 I can't say enough good things about this little app. It's just a little icon that sits in your menu bar. You'll probably forget it's even there, except when you accidentally overwrite it is whatever you had previously copied. Then it becomes a lifesaver. Honestly, I would recommend this to anyone. If you do any kind of copy/pasting at all, get this. It's incredibly easy to use, very lightweight, full of features, and free. Keep up the awesome work devs! (Version 0.63)

JON555 When Vuse was once Azureus, things were ok. Sure it was slow, bloated, and a resource hog, but it worked and had a lot of options. Being Java based, it was already a bad though. Then it turned into Vuze and bad went to terrible. It's only been downhill from there. Please, PLEASE, avoid this app. There are so many other better alternative torrent clients for the Mac. Again, stay away from this. Go up to that search bar and type in Transmission or uTorrent. Or whatever. Just avoid this app. (Version 4.2.0.8)

JON555 I've uploaded a passworded .rar file to EasyShare. The password is "jamesbond" (no spaces, no caps). It's a passworded .rar file of The Unarchiver app. I ran a check on the .rar after I made it to verify it worked, and everything checked out. I tried opening it by double-clicking which brought up The Unarchiver asking for a password. After putting in the password, it simply froze and crashed. MPlayer OSX Extended | Aug 25 2009 |
JON555 This is an awesome player. I love VLC, but it has trouble with subtitles at times. This player always seems to pull through. My only complaints: The decoding and filters are a bit of a headache to set up if you don't know the difference between them. And it doesn't provide any real explanation of each setting, or which is better/worse. I want it to look/sound as best as possible, but I have no idea which settings are suited for that. This is one area where VLC has this player beat. The default subtitles (when they work) in VLC are crisp and anti-aliased and always appear in a good, readable size that isn't too big or small. With this player you have to tweak them a bit to get it to look good. Again though, this is a fantastic player. Keep up the good work devs! (Version rev11)

LimeWire | Jul 22 2009 |
JON555 This app hasn't changed in YEARS. It's literally stayed the same and looks like it's straight from 2001. I mean it was great back in its day, but that day is LONG gone. And the fact that they have the nerve to charge for a "premium" version is just insane. There are so many fake spoof files on Limewire that it's impossible to use even for legitimate reasons. JON555 I went from version 9 to version 10 and have yet to see any real changes except that the dock icon is now blue, which makes me wonder why I spent so damn much money to "upgrade". Honestly, how is this worth a whole version number upgrade? And stop throwing more useless applications in the bundle that people rarely use, just so you can somehow justify charging such a ridiculous price. Toast itself is an awesome application, but the company behind it is not, and the price is just stupid. This, coupled with terrible customer support, makes me wonder how Roxio stays in business. My only request is that a "Video" section is added so you can see all the video files (although it's not a big deal right now, as you can simply look through the entire library which shows everything from music to video).
