JOI  This program looks like a real winner. I just simply wish it had video on its website similar to MoneyWell http://nothirst.com/moneywell/ which shows you exactly how to use the program.

ALEX B  It only gets better, but I really wish it had some mac-like icons. For god sake, find some replacements. It makes the app look so dated. I tried to make some myself for you, but they didn't come out well. I also think the Debts, Income, and Expenses tabs should be updated to match the Accounts, Transfers, and Reports tabs. The same thing can be accomplished in a much cleaner interface than what is there now.

JIM_T_3  I finally actually did get off of my butt and add in a pretty long and involved introduction/tutorial to the application. It shows off most of the features, how to do many things, and demonstrates the utility.

BLLOYD  Nope.

Looks like you'll have to upgrade to 10.5 if you want to use it.

Note: there are many APIs in Leopard that aren't in Tiger. If developers want to leverage them, that means they have to write Leopard-only applications or else do 3 or 4 times the amount of work to support Tiger.

Your choice is to upgrade, and use apps like EverNote and Delicious Library 2, etc., or to not upgrade, and not use them.

STROB  Sounds like a really tough decision for us Tiger guys. Let's see. We can stay with Tiger and find a any number of substitutes like Devonthink or Eaglefiler. Or we can pay Apple 100+ dollars to "upgrade" to Leopard and then buy Evernote. Then at the same time be forced to "upgrade" ($$$) many applications that we have already purchased that work fine under Tiger. Additionally we loose support for many fine applications under Classic.

Seems like a great deal...for Apple and developers.

And how does the fact that you never had a problem with it imply that it must be bug-free?

HORATIO  Hi

don't know what it means, but I have this in my console messages under Leopard, latest update :

03/09/08 10:12:44 iClip[168] NSDocumentController Info.plist warning: The values of CFBundleTypeRole entries must be 'Editor', 'Viewer', 'None', or 'Shell'.

There's no CFBundleTypeRole in info.plist of iClip.

Unless this message, never had problems with iClip under leopard - even if I find it weird that there's no activity on the developer's site since january 2007.

Speed Download
Apr 14 2008

JOI  @Corpsecorps

Download managers are a good idea because when you download a large file and if something happens you'd have to start all over again. Like a 200mb program or a 500mb video, oh! Especially on a 786 dsl connection, you'd wish you'd had a DM then...

Also, it uses multiple ports to download the file in portions speeding the download up. They also have other benefits such as download at a later time, etc...etc..

CORPSECORPS  I've never downloaded something from a site that i found would allow downloading multiple pieces simultaneously, or else something else on my system needs tweaking.

I did need to resume a download on one occasion, but it seemed to be a function of how the server worked that it didn't allow it.

I don't see a fast way to get things i want, *into* the queue.

A lot of people really like these gadgets but i'm always wondering where they're downloading from that actually allows these functions to operate.

My ADSL is suppposed to be 3027/640 but in practice i get about 500 kbits up, and 2.5 megabits down, btw.

Schreiben
Apr 12 2008
*****

JOI  After reading some of the reviews I decided to visit the www.myownapp.com site, very nice site by the way.

I downloaded Schreiben 2.7 and decided to kick the tires and give it a spin for myself. It really is an interesting app, and I will replace textedit with Schreiben.

The snippets don't seem to have a button or other way in which to insert your previously saved snippets into your document. i.e. insert snippet at the current location of cursor. It appears you have to copy and paste, not a big deal at least they are all in one place.

If I'm wrong about this let me know...

The autosave feature seems to have been removed though? I might be wrong about this but I couldn't find it in the prefs?

Schreiben comes with its own spellchecker and its interface is very well laid out. Seems like a very good app download it and give it a spin for yourself, see what you think?

I have been using computers for years and when I was on the IBM platform it was impossible to backup my stuff. The programs were either too complex, or the backup images, and files would be no good if you need to reinstall them. It was horrible.
