JOHN VERITY This is a superb program, always rock-solid and full of features and flexibility. My only complaint is that its supplier does not provide enough information about how to use all those features. I am thinking primarily of the many audio effects and filters that come with the program, or that can be obtained elsewhere. Some of these, like gain and reverb, are self-explanatory, but others - Side Chain Limiter? RogerBeep? - are mystifying to some of us. Several effects have 3, 4, even a dozen parameters that can be adjusted, but there's no advice or help provided about where these effects might prove useful or how to use the parameters most effectively. Yes, I can imagine there are experienced audio engineers and recording enthusiasts who "get" these effects at first glance, but the rest of us can only diddle and diddle again and hope for the best. Or, as I do, ignore most of the effects. A short, well-written primer on audio processing, or whatever the proper term is, would be most appreciated.
Rogue Amoeba's companion program, the Fission audio editor, is another gem - clean interface, able to handle the largest (well, my largest) files, stable. Highly recommended.
