JOELSCHMIDT2  Mr.Ash obviously did not bother to take the time to learn how this version of MAME works before posting his review. In both MacMAME and MAME OS X, joystick configuration is handled on a per game basis. When you start a game, press the tab key to access the input setup menus . And the reason that "half my ROMs do not work", is because Mr.Ash is most likely using an outdated ROMset. MAME is a constant work in progress and as a result, there will be changes to what files are needed for a given game to work in every new release. ALWAYS make sure you are using the most recent ROMset version of your favorite games to ensure that they continue to work.

JOELSCHMIDT2  Has potential. Installed without any troubles, and I was able to successfully create a Windows XP Home Edition VM Image. No problem with installing the VMWare tools either.

HOWEVER, until VMWare, Parallels or even CrossOver support the direct use of the Intel GMA 950 video chipset in the MacBooks and Mac Minis, none of these programs are using for anything more than Pre-DirectX 8 games/emulators or programs that do not require serious graphics (ie MS Office).

In fact, doing that revealed another problem with the newer versions. Unless I entered my email address to register the software, Acquisition would only update 15% of the core before stopping and claiming everything was ready.

I have a feeling that not too many people will be happy with being 'forced' to register in order for the software to be properly installed.

Purchased a license a year ago, but bought a new one sunday because Acquisition would not accept my registered email address (and David had previously tried to claim that my email address had been used too many times to register and was blocked). Shortly after I purchased the new license, I encountered the same failure to connect problem that several people have been reporting. As of 3:06:15pm 11/07/2006, Central Standard US Time, Acquisition is STILL not able to connect. I did not purchase this software to spend at least 2 days not able to use it. I have checked all my port settings as suggested on David's site, everything is as he suggests.
