JESS2006  I had some trouble originally because I had Mailtags installed and mdimport was constantly crashing.

But found out from Google that the problem was a bad importer from Mailtags. Deleted the old importer from /Library/Spotlight and now everything just works. It's great!

JESS2006  I had the same problem. Do you have mailtags installed Turns out MailTags doesn't reinstall the Spotlight importer even if you have the latest beta.

Delete the Mailtags importer from /Library/Spotlight or ~/Library/Spotlight.

Then reinstall Mailtags, you should be fine.
