MenuCalendarClock iCal
Oct 15 2009

JEFFREY HARRIS  Wow. That was brutal!

MenuCalendarClock iCal 4.1 completely choked my machine. It took a good while to be able to force quit 4.1, reload 4.0 from a disk image and reboot. I'm still running Mac OS X 10.5.8.

It took some real skill to write an application that will bring down Mac OS X!

DOLPHINBOY2U  Same here. It grabbed all remaining RAM (was using 2.7 GB and climbing), and slowed everything to a glacier pace. MenuCalendarClock has lived in my menu bar for several years, so I'm a fan of it, but this particular version has big problems. Maybe your MMV. I'm on 10.5.8

ClickToFlash
Oct 12 2009
*****

JEFFREY HARRIS  This thing is better than I had hoped.

I use the Glims Safari plug-in to reload multiple browser windows, with multiple tabs open in each. After quitting Safari or logging out, it can take a minute or more to reload all my tabs (sometimes 20 or more). ClicktoFlash cut that time down to mere seconds. I was stunned at how quickly I was able to actually use Safari again after relaunching.

I have no idea about the stability of the thing at this point, but it feels like I got my browser back!

GoogleMaps

JEFFREY HARRIS  Great little Application!

It's not as feature laden as Google Earth, but it's extremely small and allows you to access Google Maps without a browser and view maps at nearly full screen, unlike the Google Maps browser page! It also adds topographical (Physical) maps, which is a fantastic addition!

An excellent start for a version 1.0 application!

The Hit List
Aug 7 2009

JEFFREY HARRIS  I really like The Hit List. Better than Things and better than OmniFocus. However, without an iPhone/iPod touch version that syncs with Mac desktop software, it's virtually useless for me.

I was a LONG time Palm OS user and NEED a handheld organizational app that allows me to do the heavy lifting work on my Mac, sync, then add and tweak a bit on my iPod touch.

I really WANTED to be able to use THL, but since the Potion Factory refuses to commit to an iPhone/iPod touch OS version, I was forced to go with OmniFocus. Bummer.

DON SYKES  Jeffrey - I too am looking down the road for iPhone support. The developer's preference pane says "Please rest assured that we're already working on the iPhone version of The Hit List that will sync with the desktop version."

I've moved all my to-do related thinking & planning into THL and am amazed at how well thought out and intuitive this program is. I can't imagine them not releasing an iPhone version, it would be suicidal from a company point of view. . .

MJKPHOTO  I own a copy of The Hit List and like it very much. However, the lack of an iPhone app has kept me with Things. On the upside, using THL has given me ideas on how to better implement Things and so I may just stick with Things even when an iPhone app is released for THL.

Weather Vane

**...

JEFFREY HARRIS  Lame at best.

This is extremely limited. It seems that you're only able to display ONE city at a time... unless I'm missing something. The interface is poor.

If you're looking for a free, well featured and flexible weather app, check out WeatherDock.

iClock Pro
May 4 2009

JEFFREY HARRIS  I used iClock 3.0.5 for a long time. It has a great feature set. My fave is the sub-menu that goes directly to any System Preference item! I wish that the app and it's add-ons were modular, so I could delete the items i have no need for, like the calculator.

As Leopard has progressed, iClock has remained in stasis and began causing me trouble from 1.5.4 onward. I reluctantly gave up on it and switched to MenuCalendarClock for iCal.

While the release of this beta is welcome (the iCal support is welcome) I have serious doubts about the developer's commitment to this application, given their track record with iClock 3. Hopefully that will change.

SpaceSuit
Dec 1 2008
****.

JEFFREY HARRIS  THIS type of capability should be part of Spaces, which I don't use often because it's impossible to visually differentiate between which active space you're in. Perhaps being able to assign a different tint to the Menu Bar and Menus would work, too?

I'd prefer to see SpaceSuit as a Preference Pane, to keep the Dock free of one more icon. It's a bit awkward to change desktop pictures they way it works now.

Also, it would be nice to be able to randomly change desktop pictures for each space, with the ability to assign a different Picture folder for each Space. I'd like to assign a different style desktop picture depending on how I use each Space.

For those who care about such things, the icon is excellent!

Very nice for a 1.0 release.
