Sorry I forgot to say, yes I do have the latest version of Safari.

I'm getting this pop up message when trying to install version 2.8.3:

"The version of PithHelmet is only compatible with Safari 3.x.x"

to dwette:

You can force an install if you open the PithHelmet.mpkg file in Pacifist and install the necessary packages depending on what you already have installed on your system.

Seems like the 'right click' bug is back?

Like one poster several months ago noticed, whenever I right click in Safari it causes a crash. If I right click on a flash animation I get a menu.

Was there ever a solution for this?

Can't believe no one commented.

It's a great little app that plays your saved flash content. Okay I may have had more use for this before I found other applications that could play flash content. But still it's a nice utility if you don't need any other wiz bang features that come with other apps.

But yes I know it's technically not made to *just* play flash but oriented to developers.

I agree with JMAX, auto tagging doesn't seem to work. I thought it would actually search through for words within the currently selected document?? But it gives me random words which have nothing to do with the pdf I'm looking at? :(

People still having problems may want to try Gmail Browser:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24228/gmail-browser

It's crashing nearly everytime I either run it or try to login.

It uses the CPU a lot before crashing. Sometimes, seems random, it doesn't crash and keeps running. Unfortunately it seems very unstable :(

Adium for now...

It logs in fine but none of the links in Gmail work, I can't open any messages or go through any folders?? :(

This is such a unique and beautiful game! =)

I congratulate the developers for taking the time to make this. It's so simple in design yet so beautiful.

Thanks for making this!

oh wow! This is a little like the Rasterbator! They have that available as a standalone program in windows, and I'm so happy I found this program for mac :)

I'm assuming it'll work similarly.

Ok I just realised that if I don't resize my pic to 128x128, and leave it at the larger size (512 in this case), it's not blurred.

So I assume that on 128x128 pic, even though it's the right size, there's a resize action being performed, causing blur??

Thanks for making such an easy app to create icons :D

I love the fact that I there's the resource fork option.

My only negative to such a wonderful little app, is that compared to img2icns, http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18369

FastIcns seems to slightly blur the final 128x128 image. Whereas img2icns keeps it sharp (at least that's how it is if I've already resized the image to 128x128 size beforehand).

Sorry, I was teasing, didn't mean to offend.

I did noticed that both apps have different ways of doing things.

I just thought it was funny how more than one person out there would have the idea for something this unique but rather useful for some people :)

Hey which came first, this or Writer ?

http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/23221

I'm intrigued by the similarities :D

Well anyway if you want similar typewriter functionality and getting rid of distractions try that one, it's also free.

Personally I don't quite understand the apps, are people that distracted these days? :)

Hehe ooh the nfo viewer on a Mac.

It was pretty useful on Windows.....for those...certain files bundled with software downloads, you know what I mean Windows users ;)

But still this is cool, thanks for making it.

I've tried this for a few weeks, and it does what it says! =)

My MBP has never been cooler, and I just realised that most of the time the fans were running at 1000 RPM or just below. Now I've set them to 2000 RPM like the default on the new C2D's.

Thanks for combining the other fan speed controls into one easy little interface. And what a bonus that it doesn't need to do any hacks, just a standalone app.

WOW! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Ever since switching from windows, I missed having the preference of seeing the list of filetypes and the programs they open with.

Finally no more having to find each type of file and doing the whole command+i thing =)

Ok I found this

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11910

Thats the AppleCore Project which contains Xfile, unfortunately seems from users descriptions it's slow and dated :(

Rixstep sure criticise the mac a lot, but they don't seem to update their own software???

icon

Date: 22 Jan 2007 22:45

Can any of the power users here (or anyone) tell me how Path Finder compares to Rixstep's Xfile?

Path Finder seems to have more options and has a nice integrated design, while Xfile promises to be fast and effiecient, yet design wise seems to be stuck a few years back.

http://rixstep.com/4/0/xfile/

Why isn't Xfile on MacUpdate? :/

Well yeah that would happen, many apps you install will associate themselves with files as the default program to open them.

You can easily change that either by, checking for any tweakable settings within the program itself, or do a command+i on files and change the 'open with' application.

Or better than paying for this, try FastIcns

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22759

Edit your image in any app, than just drag and drop and choose whether you want to save as .icns file or resource fork file! FastIcns resizes automatically :)

Hooray for freeware!

Hmm why can't we see the whole user interface in the screenshot?? I'm not desperate enough to download this just to see how it works :P

To the poster below, sorry but you can specify other Applications, by dragging that app to App Extras in CandyBar.

So does this work on an Intel Mac??

Will it cause a crash or corruption on the new machines, and under Tiger?

Please someone reply :(

Great there's a free little app like this for Mac. And has worked great on my Intel MacBook Pro. :)

If you need a quick, simple little app to modify or edit stuff, try the free ones.

This is Intel too?? As when I check the apps info it tells me it's PPC, same in Activity Monitor.

hfsdebug is also PPC, did the developer really update anything?? :/

When did this change from being freeware?! :(

Phew lucky I downloaded the free app a while back (version 1.06), it looked nicer too :P

Like others said, save your money folks, you can do this with Disk Utility.

icon

Date: 5 Jan 2007 01:55

Something strange is happening, the disk image is being downloaded as an archive with extension .bz2

I initially tried to unarchive the thing, but ended up with a non useable dmg file.

Then finally thought to change the extension to just .dmg

Now it worked, sorry maybe I'm the only one with the problem, I know it's happened on one other occasion when Safari attached a .zip extension to a download.

For anyone looking for a free alternative, try HuginOSX

http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/18575

Let's hope someone develops a free version of the Lens fix.

(btw HuginOSX isn't a plugin as such, but standalone software)

This was handy....until I found HuginOSX

http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/18575

That's free and based on the same software libraries that PTBatch uses.

No I'm not the developer, and please note that HuginOSX may crash or exhibit bugs. But still it's free! :)

Mac users please listen up, some of you aren't understanding the focus of this app. Of course it blocks connections to Apple and other 'useful' sites. This is mainly for use when you're downloading stuff off P2P.

So you wouldn't want to be tracked by government agencies or companies. This also helps stop you downloading from fake servers.

You can turn it off, or selectively disable when you want to surf anywhere.

One thing though, I wish this had enable/disable of just HTTP, like in the windows version.
