JM4 Although I 100% agree with all the turmoil of the previously paid adaptors, how about I throw this out there. I a ma previous paid adaptor that now has no product at all because they decided to drop tiger support. So The don't even offer a version for an OS to which I purchased a license from.... Thanks NNW, you rock at being a complete and utter dirt-bag :) (Version 3.2)

JM4 Since they've dropped the 10.4 support I've been bitter... now when my client of NNW pops-up with an update, because it's checking automatically, I was thinking that they put 10.4 support back in! Why in the world would you allow for application to update on a non-supported OS? Because mine updated and when I attempt to launch the app I'm present with the awesome message that it's not supported on my OS. Anyone know where I can download a previous build so that I can get NNW working again on my machine? What is the best alternative after NNW? Thanks in advance... (Version 3.2b13)

STUGOTS For alternatives, I looked at Shrook and Vienna. With Shrook, you can sync to their optional $20/year service. Vienna doesn't have syncing yet, but it's on their wishlist. And Vienna is open-source. I switched to Vienna because syncing isn't important to me right now. (Version 3.2b13)

IMINI I like when developers drop old OS support so that they can use new technologies in new OS. 10.4 is more than 4 years old, there is no reason to still use it. Backward compatibility is the reason Windows Vista is so slow and bloated. (Version 3.2b14)

NetNewsWire | Aug 20 2009 |
BARISTABRIAN >> "I like when developers drop old OS support so that they can use new technologies in new OS." What an ignorant statement! What, developers can *not* implement "new technologies" if they *do* support an "old OS?" Since when? And, what's "old" to you is not necessarily *old* by somebody *else's* definition? Everheard of Windows XP [versus Vista]? Apparently not. >> "10.4 is more than 4 years old ... " So? What's your point? Too old for you? Then move on and be quiet about it. >> "there is no reason to still use it." Says who, you? Some troll ...or just some opinionated and loudmouthed *early adoter.* What, you want a pat on the back? You got money and need for the "latest and greatest?" Good for you. One size does *not* fit all, unfortunately. >> "Backward compatibility is the reason Windows Vista is so slow and bloated." We're not talking about an *OS,* now, are we? We're talking about a "developer* and their application . . . and a possible flaw in the "update" delivery system. A person, apparently, was *mistakenly* led to believe that they were getting a *viable* update when, possibly, they were provided a version that is *not* compatible. Besides, how does this have *anything* to do with *your* pre-suppositions about what *is* or is *not* "old" and "unnecessaary" for everybody else --- besides you? (Version 3.2b23)

Much appreciated that you yanked support for 10.4 off the grid; being I don't get to complain about ads, because your application doesn't support my OS, how about you take some of that revenue and buy me a new Mac so I can support your application ;) (Version 3.2b6)

GIOVANNI LANZANI I would really love it, that would make glims the ONLY safari extension needed (at least for me)..now I also need SafariBlock (Version 1.0b19)

Glims | Jul 29 2009 |
CORPSECORPS I got recommendations for Glimmer Blocker. Wanted to like it but i found it annoying. While it has the advantage of not having to be updated with every Safari update, since it's an http proxy, it messes with other browsers and Firefox already has Adblock Plus. Found it too cryptic, as well. If i wanted a cryptic proxy, i could have continued to use Privoxy. X-p (Version 1.0b19)

XENOPHILE Why don't you show some love for Leopard, and upgrade? (Version 1.2.5)

JAZZYGUY well.....these guys don't want to lose the ability to boot into OS9 which as you should know although it is antiquated still is very quaint and for most of us we are sentimental being old timers. I am a 10.5 user on all my machines but truly miss the ability to go to OS9. (Version 1.2.5)

RipIt | May 1 2009 |
ST00P!D M0NK3Y Yeah, I miss being able to boot into OS 9. I had an imation floppy drive that can only be used in OS 9, and I had quite a bit of stuff on there I can't get off now... as there are no OS X drivers for the external drive. Only option is to buy an older Mac... since my Bondi Blue 233MHz iMac finally died after.... 9 years. Oh well. (Version 1.2.5)

RipIt | May 1 2009 |
JAZZYGUY There Is a WAY to get OS9 on 10.5. It is found in Ted Landau's excellent book of MacFixit. It requires a full copy of OS9 which if you do not have t is obtainable on Ebay.It is a little tricky to do but it does work! (Version 1.2.5)

RipIt | May 23 2009 |
AIKOUSHA OS9 isn't the only reason to refuse 10.5. Many "drivers" and applications are broken under Leopard. Not a single one of my CAD programs work, neither do any of my SCSI devices... which cannot be replaced because they simply do not exist outside of this form. It would be easier to buy a windows machine than "move-up" to 10.5. If you want, you can buy me a Mac-tel mini and I'll gladly use Leopard on that! ^_^ (Version 1.2.7)

JM4 I am looking for an alternative to the over bloated Stuffit suite... I recently downloaded The, but it feels limited. Is $26.00 really worth the purchase of this app? Any helpful responses with Pros and Cons would be awesomely appreciated ;) Unarchiver (Version 1.7.1)

JM4 I did like Glims slightly better than Saft, but Glims is missing one key feature... Ad-Blocking! Bring on Ad-Blocking and I will switch ;) (Version 1.0b14)

LEOPOLDBLOOM I agree that ad-blocking is an essential feature for any browser, but I find most of the ad-blocking plugins for Safari either a little unstable (i.e. SafariBlock, Safari Adblock) or not frequently updated (i.e. PithHelmet). If you like Glims better than Saft, try using GlimmerBlocker for ad-blocking. It's a proxy so doesn't need to be updated every time Safari is and doesn't cause stability issues. I guess if you want ad-blocking in the same package, Saft still has the edge, but Glims has the advantage of not requiring a silly update process every time there's a new release, and adding GlimmerBlocker will give you the essential ad-blocking functionality without having to install another InputManagers hack. As a side note, I also suggest the Click-to-Flash WebKit plugin for Flash blocking if you're into that. Again, since it's not a hack, it doesn't threaten Safari's stability. (Version 1.0b14)

LANOUVELLECHAIR I think it could be great if Glims include this function : http://joeygibson.com/2008/04/25/middleclickclose-for-safari-311/ You need SIMBL to make it work. (Version 1.0b14)

Glims | Mar 4 2009 |
AS9 I'm using a free InputManager called Safari AdBlock. It's free and the current build works with Safari 4. You can configure it from Safari's preferences, just like Glims. It works great; I highly recommend it. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26171/safari-adblock (Version 1.0b14)

Glims | Mar 8 2009 |
AETNARIA I don't need ad-blocking per-say, but I'd really appreciate it if you incorporated a FlashBlock possibility. Something that doesn't permanently remove flash items but rather replaces them each with an icon you must click on in order to allow it to load. (Version 1.0b14)

JM4 Has support for us 10.4 users been thrown out the window? No new updates or features that 10.5 is basking in. I like Cocktail, but not all of us are able to purchase new Macs, as much as I would love to, to run all the newest and greatest stuff. (Version 4.2)

SUPERMANKD Because stumbleupon itself makes the firefox extension, where this is made by another developer with little to gain if they don't charge for it. I think they should try to work out a deal with stumble upon so they could maybe offer it for free. (Version 1.0)

JM4 This application has kept my machine in a wonderful mood! I know by running this once a month my machine has never given me a single problem for the past 3 years!!! I can only thank the developer numerously for now making it 10.5 compatible so that I can install it on my girl's new iMac :)
