JDUB800 Bought this and found it useless before I'd even finished setting it up. Yes, my bad. It is a severely limited product that seems nice on the outside, but after hitting wall after wall and reading comments about iList below, think I'll give that a try instead. Who wants to buy a sealed version of Bento?!?

JDUB800 You mention the time it would take to upgrade all of your machines? Did you not test it on one machine first? Do you not run cloning software on your machines to roll back 'bad upgrades'? I also sell my time and even though I did a prompt upgrade, I made sure I had an escape route in case things went wrong. This is a good practice to follow. Sorry you had to buy a new printer... :/ (Version 10.6.1)

Apple HP Printer Drivers | Aug 29 2009 |
JDUB800 Something I've not seen in the press, is that these drivers now include what appears to be an Apple influenced (built?) scanner application that works with supported devices. Nice to see some unification with this stuff at long last. An excellent update - Don't forget to remove the old applications if you don't use them. :) (Version 2.0)

JDUB800 I got this as part of recent bundle and for a while it has sat there unused - As a PS and PM user, I didn't see much use for this app. Strangely, I tried this today for some very small items and it was quick and useful. If this developed some Automator support, it could find a little niche in my toolbox - maybe. Showing potential, but a little pricey as a standalone... (Version 1.5.3)

JDUB800 I am also a huge fan of CSSEdit, but am a little bewildered by Espresso's lack of integration with it. This should be the number one priority IMHO. It does have some nice features, but having use a separate CSS app, when the frameworks already exists by the same author, is a little strange... :/ (Version 1.0.3)

JOEYA Having been part of the beta program since the beginning I can tell you that it was very unclear how many people in the beta actually used CSSEdit. I use it daily and love it, it's what got me interested in Espresso, but during the beta I was clearly in the minority when it came to requests for the integration of the two programs. Most people I spoke to had never even used CSSEdit. So I just think Espresso is aimed at a different audience. With the integration of CSSEdit and a proper working live preview it would be the best program on the market for front end developers like myself. However I truly don't believe that's the direction this application is going. Espresso seems to be aimed squarely at developers doing web based scripting more so than front end designers building with HTML and CSS. (Version 1.0.5)

JDUB800 Certainly a nice looking app, but is $20 really gonna cut it when Disk Inventory X and Grand Perspective do very similar for free? GP in particular is a fine looking/working app of it's type. In-app previews are a nice bonus, but twenty dollar's worth...? (Version 0.99b)

JDUB800 Yeah, I've gotta agree with the first poster - Seemed like a good idea at the time, but in reality, seems klutzy and a badly implemented. Ugly choice of default skin that looks nothing like the screenshot implies - and the skin 'store' didn't boost my hopes either - with only one other choice from what I could see. As soon as I had trouble pulling up the preferences window (but instead made Firefox active), I knew this needed more refinement. Sorry guys, maybe in a version or three... :) (Version 1.0)

Drive Genius | Dec 17 2008 |
JDUB800 I have to fully agree with the comments below - Drive Genius is worthless. I got it as part of the MU bundle a few days ago and thought I'd use it to defrag my HD as it contains a lot of files larger than 20MB. Bad move. It 'found' a btree error which then stopped all the repair features of the program from working correctly. It's repair and rebuild features were unable to fix it. So I wiped my spare Time Machine drive and cloned the data... I thought I'd run a couple of tests to see what happened (with the cloned data) and after an initial green light from the disk verification feature, tried the defrag again. Now I was getting file extent warnings - Again DG was unable to repair them. Support 'advised' me to format the HD. Easy way out, eh?? Finally, I decided the wipe the backup drive, re-clone and try one last time. The same thing happened. Now doing a final clone and then format and rebuild my internal HD - Without going anywhere near DG. What a waste of my time!! In my experience, DG's defrag feature is seriously flawed. This is garbage - Don't go anywhere near it. (Version 2.1)

Opera | Oct 8 2008 |
JDUB800 Still a very solid browser. Fast reliable and well featured...BUT because of Opera's inability to use 1Password, it is not my daily browser - and only gets wheeled out for compatibilty checking. I think the new UI works nicely and makes a change from the Safari greyness permeating through the browser UI world - even if it's a little Vista-ish on the tabs. Get 1Password working with Opera and I'll come back to it full time. It's a great browser with a bunch of features that you'll grow to love. For now, I love 1Password more. (Version 9.60)

JDUB800 A very nicely designed application, with excellent use of Core Animation, etc. Drag and drop simplicity and very intuitive to use. So, for example, users who have registered in the past now get a much speedier program for free with the current update. • Educational discounts are available • Quantity discounts are available through Kagi Finally, the program is regularly maintained and improved, a lot of time has been invested in it. Also, technical support is free too! All in all I think $25 is a pretty good deal :-)

JPPAGLIARO It doesn't seem to me that either program you mention can perform the same operations as Touvaly, based on their descriptions on MacUpdate. Are you saying that either of these program can re-create a file hierarchy as a collection of files with identical hierarchy but having no content? The idea here is that the collection of files Touvaly creates is identical to the original collection except that each file has no data in the data fork, in order to reduce the memory footprint of the collection. (There is an option to preserve the resource fork, which may be desirable under various circumstances.) The result is a collection you can still search, say with Spotlight, and then find and open the original easily - which may reside elsewhere of course. Sorry, but I am doubtful that you understand what Touvaly does, and that concerns me only because you are comparing it with other programs to judge the pricing. (Version 1.1.5)

JPPAGLIARO Thanks for clarifying. But of course I, as the sole author of the program, the one who knows the work involved in the creation of it, and the one who supports it, still stand by my opinion that the price is right for most. Some, like yourself, want to pay less, yet there are others who would even pay more. Anyway, I have a lot of work to do so I can't keep debating this. Have a good holiday!

JDUB800 Wow! I like this... As much as I like Vienna, I found it sluggish on the PB I use most of the time, so I'd been looking elsewhere. This is fast, has a great GUI and a fair price. I forgot I had a couple of weeks to trial it and paid for it within a couple of hours. Hmmm, must be some subliminal purchase requests in there...LOL (Version 1.0.28)

Opera | Aug 4 2006 |
JDUB800 As a Safari, then Camino user for long periods of time, Opera is less Mac-like than I'd prefer - But the sheer range of features, nice touches and developer friendly tools have made this my default browser for the past few weeks. They now just need to work on the odd stability glitch and site incompatibilty (rare) and I'll be an even happier customer... (Version 9.0.1)

JDUB800 Nice little gadget - Graphics could be improved a bit, but shows a lot of promise. Pricing is excellent. :) (Version 2.0)

PHOTOGUY53 The software and drivers are actually for the NuLOOQ Pro which is a hardware and software combo. they were selling the software alone, but rumor has it that will stop soon, and a new sub $99 price for both will be launched. (I paid $149 from their web site, an it was a bargain at that ) I have been using this product for a couple of months in my studio, and it is the best thing I have purchased in years. Plus their support with updates and functionality is better than anyone else i can remember...except perhaps Apple..but that would be a tie at best ;-) I use it for Photoshop primarily, but it now has function for many apps including iTunes, and I even have improved my Quake 4 scores using the navigator. I urge everyone to try this great product! (Version 1.1)

JDUB800 Looks a great little app, but unfortunately seems to be suffering from a bug on my machine: The drawer tab on the side of the screen seems to disappear at random, even though the task is still active. Sp, I'm unable to activate it... The worst thing is, I only ever find this out when I need it, so alas...it's now zapped!! Fix this bug and I'll try it again. Looks useful... (Version 1.7)

JAZZADDICT I had a similar problem with it when I was using a desktop manager (virtue.) I think it might react this way from have another .app that injects code into the dock. (Version 1.7)

JDUB800 Amberv, what are you on about?!? Learn to read AND understand, before assuming other people's motives... I enjoy the rapid beta release cycle that this developer chooses and registered 18 months ago. In the face of the higher profile OO3, this product is more than capable of competing against it. Alas, in perpetual beta, many people may not give it a chance and may find the versioning confusing, meaning lost sales. Case closed. (Version 1.1b24f)

JDUB800 $400 for the client version, $4000 PER CPU for the server version. Ouch! That's a lot of money... Dinosaur or not, that's a lot of money for something that appears to be updated on a glacial basis... (Version 6.1)

Yummy FTP | May 26 2006 |
JDUB800 Easily the best FTP client for the Mac. Very configurable, applescriptable and uses all the standard Mac UI conventions. It also supports droplets and upload automation. I now have to do a lot of FTP transactions for my work and find it indespensable. The developer is responsive and even added a couple of my feature requests within a couple of days. It's rare I have this much praise for a product, but here it's deserved. Highly recommended!! (Version 1.5)

JDUB800 Looks good, but when zip functionality is included as standard, I'd say it looks overpriced... (Version 1.0.1)

ROBERT (MACITBETTER) Hey, it's free to try for 30 days. Use it a week or two or four, and if you still think it's not worth its price, you can simply remove it from your disc then. But I am sure you wont. No, I am not a drug dealer in my day job. :) (Version 1.0.1)

Portable OpenOffice.org | Apr 29 2006 |
YOXI The advantage of this implementation of OOo is that you don't have to keep it in your startup volume's /Applications folder to use it. If you want an OOo implementation that doesn't need X11 and runs more natively in OSX, try NeoOffice - currently available based on OOo v1.1.5, but the v2.0.2 is in alpha testing right now and is already very stable. Uses native OSX fonts and print dialogue, and work on a more OSX-native GUI is in progress. An intel version is expected sometime in the summer. Meanwile, OOo v2 will run on any panther/tiger mac that has X11 installed. (Version 2.0.2 r1.0)

JDUB800 Installed it and started having big problems with my UI. Menus overlapped and windows not coming into focus. I remembered another comment about this, so i knew where to look. Since I quit it, all has returned to normal. Maybe when these issues are fixed - For now, zapped! (Version 2.2.1b2)

JDUB800 Cool little widget - it's got a small bug where labelled items show missing image icons (fixed by selecting no label), but apart from that, could be quite useful. I'll give it a go. The price is useful too. Many thanks for the hard work! :) (Version 2.0)

JDUB800 I have to agree with comments below. If the product is stable, then declare it 1.1 final and then move on. There are a lot of people that won't touch a beta version - You're probably losing a lot of potential customers. (Version 1.1b23)
