J-A-X My computer is making weird noises and I don't know if it's the fan or the hard drive that is damaged. I am considering buying this app so I can test disabling the fan for 5 minutes and seeing if that stops the sound (if so it's a fan problem, if not it's a HD problem). So having that feature, although potentially dangerous, can be useful I think. (Version 0.6.1)

Apple Aperture | Feb 16 2008 |
J-A-X Aperture and TIme Machine still have problems as far as I can tell. If you leave Aperture running, Time Machine will completely ignore it (and not even inform you) and will not backup the Aperture library. Also if you make a minor change in Aperture (Editing one photo), time machine will backup the ENTIRE library again (which can be time consuming if you have a large library like I do). iPhoto on the other hand works well with TIme Machine. If you edit only one photo in iPhoto, Time Machine backs up only that one change rather than the entire library. Furthermore, Time Machine will backup your iPhoto library, even when iPhoto is running. (Version 2.0)

J-A-X Then why can I download the previous version no problem (linked from Macupdate). I'd rather use Leopard's built in VPN client but as far as I know, my university requires this cisco client and I'd like to have the most up to date version. (Version 4.9.01.0090)

iCal Events | Nov 16 2007 |
J-A-X One of my favorite widgets (besides my own widget SlothCam of course). The new leopard compatible version is awesome. The big flaw in Apple's iCal widget in Leopard is it can only show events for the current day, not upcoming events. Being able to see upcoming events is what makes this widget great. BGOOD When I upgraded to 3.0.2, DoBeDo stopped working with Leopard. I pulled 3.0.1 out of the trash and reinstalled it and it seems to work on the laptop screen. Whether it will sync correctly, I don't know. (Version 3.0.2)

J-A-X I don't maintain any of the webcams, I just chose some default cams as examples of what you can do with SlothCam. I have replaced the Paris camera in the latest version with a new (different) webcam. I live in Texas, and unfortunately I can't fly all the way to Paris to fix the Paris webcam. :) (Version 2.93)

J-A-X I downloaded the source and compiled it. It works fine except I no longer see the text overlay on the screen when I change the volume, seek, etc. There used to be white text that would show up with a seek bar or with the volume level. Anybody know how to enable this? (Version 1.0rc2)

J-A-X What I was talking about was links opened from other applications (such as mail). Camino opens all external links in tabs too. I wish Safari did that but I can use the "merge all windows" feature for now... (Version 3.0.2b)

Apple Safari | Jun 25 2007 |
J-A-X I agree with those comments 100%. I actually think Safari is a bit faster than Camino now with 3.0 but it uses more memory so its a bit of a trade off. I wish that you could open new links in tabs too. One way around this is to use the option in the "Window" menu that says "merge all windows". I even added a keyboard shortcut to do that. J-A-X Camino 1.5 fixes all of the deficiencies of the previous versions. This is going to be my primary browser. It has all the nice UI and mac friendly stuff (like Keychain) from Safari, with the speed and lower memory usage of Firefox. Awesome. (Version 1.5)

Skype | May 17 2007 |
J-A-X The fact that I can now talk with my Mac's internal mic with little to no echo is the best feature Skype has added in a long time. I have a headset but sometimes it's inconvenient to get it out, so this feature is great. The yearly subscription for North America long distance is great too. (Version 2.6.0.137)

Apple iTunes | Oct 16 2006 |
J-A-X It's usable but it's by far the most problematic version of iTunes yet. It seems slower than previous versions and has some weird bugs such as this: when playing songs through airport express connected to my speakers, it sometimes gets stuck at the end of a song and won't go to the next track until I quit and restart iTunes. I think Apple needs to hire some better beta testers!!! (Version 7.0.1)

iPhoto Mini | May 20 2006 |
J-A-X To the previous reviewer: I like being able to pop into dashboard and see a random photo from the past. I have over 5500 photos, so its cool to see an old photo that I forgot about and sort of rediscover it. Anyways that is why i find this widget useful. It does not replace iPhoto, its purpose for me is more to act as a mini slideshow. This version fixes all of the bugs from the previous version so I'm giving it five out of five. (Version 1.3)

iPhoto Mini | Dec 23 2005 |
J-A-X It would be cool if you could do something with this similar to the myPhoto widget (which I cant seem to find online anymore but luckily I still have it installed). With this widget you could see a random picture from your iPhoto library each time dashboard was activated. It would be cool if you could expand on this by making the picture open full size in iPhoto if you clicked on it, or something like that. Good start anyways! Thanks for the widget! (Version 1.0)
