INTERSTITIAL  Wow! I teach Mathematics, and this is exactly what I need! (and at a price a teacher can afford! - like as if a classroom teacher could buy Mathematica..!)

In fact, just today I looked at something in the textbook and wondered how I would draw that in Pages...

enter Geodes!!!!!

Thanks so much.

INTERSTITIAL  I love this Program!!!! I'm a Mathematics teacher and I use it all of the time when I am assembling test papers. Thank you for making this available!

It would be even better if I could do trapezoidal prisms, and if the perspective could be standardised to isometric.

The hidden line feature is the best, and the main reason I favour this software.

INTERSTITIAL  This is excellent stuff! I've registered and used it for about 20 vinyl LP's or singles so far. You can set it to process with just the noise that is being removed being outputted to your speakers. You will hear no music, but lots of LP noise. That's what it's getting rid of! I have now abandoned other products that simply made everything in the file sound weird no matter what settings I used. My LP recordings aren't perfect, but they are pretty good. The faults still audible are caused by aging and original manufacturing quality. (80's LP's made in Australia were of much crappier quality than UK imports!) They seem to be distortion and oversaturation issues rather than mechanical noise.

MMUECK  Sorry in advance to those expecting a review comment.

INTERSTITIAL: I have some questions about the music you are digitizing (80's stuff from Oz). Can you please drop me a line at mick.mueck@comcast.net

INTERSTITIAL  Wow! Just what was needed! I'm really glad it's free. Not because I'm cheap, but because this is the sort of thing that I don't need often enough to justify spending from my small budget. I would just do without it. So I'm very grateful.

INTERSTITIAL  Hello, rest of world here. Why did I have to download, install and go to the website to find this out?

"We currently provide data for Canadian and U.S. postal codes only."

It's this sort of 'oops' that makes some of the US population look so narcissistic to the world.

INTERSTITIAL  I have had exactly the same experience. I've even requested a refund (which I don't really want, I just want a working game). No reply. Hey FunPause, you seemed genuine. If there's something wrong, then let us know, but your website seems like a lot of hot air right now.

INTERSTITIAL  This is a great tool for educators and others just interested in the properties of the atmosphere. Although what it does could be communicated well in a more graphical way (sometimes, though, people can't interpret graphs well and then the usefulness is gone), it allows the user to interact with the numerical values and see the results. I especially like the speed of sound part - great when teaching about Mach values. Atmosculator could do with a preference setting to use SI units with just one click and an alternative input method (maybe sliders) that allows you to step the values up with clicks. It's still a great program for using but hiding equations.

JUAN FALGUERAS CANO  It is a pity that this very interesting educational item insists in slugs(?), feet and other non international measurement units not offering at least a quick way for changing them all to the standard, that on the other hand are always used in the explanations as we all have learned in the schools. Also the output number format (engineering with things like 1.3e2) could be much better (130).

INTERSTITIAL  This is the best calendar software anywhere. That is in the sense of a device for time measurement. It has all of the calendar systems that you have heard of all parallel to each other and easily switchable. This can be used for diary-type purposes, but is best used for exploration of dates and research.

I also love the new features such as solar details and Chinese zodiac. This software is easily worth the money when you consider that it does the job of several other programs that are around, all in one very useful interface.

One thing does need fixing (although it is labelled as an interim release) is the Earth-Sun distance. My copy says it's 23 138.15633 km. I know that it's less than one AU right now, but not closer than the moon! (Spell 'ascension' correctly as well).

Proverbs Widget
Dec 19 2005

INTERSTITIAL  Thanks for this - I like the use of widgets for this type of thing. I was wondering which translation is used, not that it affects my gratitude, however. Also, I don't know an easy way around this, but when it randomly picks Proverbs 1:1, it hits prologue rather than wisdom.

This sort of widget could be useful for educational/recreational use too. Like say history facts or famous biography snippets etc.

INTERSTITIAL  Thank you for this very useful widget! This is exactly the sort of thing that should be a widget. Making the explanation of what to type IN WORDS and not symbols that fail to correspond with what is physically there on the keyboard is, well, what should have always been with other similar pieces of software (note a correct use of 'software' - yes you - the irritating readers that use it as a singular noun) - thanks for getting it right. Finally, thanks for making it free. I've had it with a certain other well-known product that has price-gouged me for the last time.

One request is to widen the font selection, but you brilliant people would know that already.

INTERSTITIAL  Does what it's supposed to do. The amazing thing to me was that it was easy to read. A very good demonstration of what can be done with a widget. I'm not sure about how useful it is, but I'm keeping something this cool around until I think of the right situation! The options on the back could do with a few more words - the minimalist labelling left me experimenting to figure it out.

INTERSTITIAL  An excellent game - bought it about a year ago. The only trouble is that I find it a bit hard, might be because I'm only using the keyboard. If you ever loved playing the old Sonic games, you'll like this. Kids I know from 4 to 12 all like it, but they keep asking if they can choose a girl character. I know that's not the 'story line', but most seem to not care about that. How about a Buddette?

INTERSTITIAL  I agree with the other recent posts, but I'll be more positive. Wouldn't it have made business sense to keep this free and use it as a honeypot to attract people to your company's website, then sell other titles based on the great advertising of the free software? I would at the most pay $5 for this, but that's a maybe, as out-of-order bookmarks I can still live with, I just order my most frequently visited ones near the top. I am quite sure that someone will be motivated enough and community-minded enough to do their own version for free. You do deserve something for your hard work, but occasionally we all give something back to the community anyway, because everyone benefits that way.

INTERSTITIAL  This old-school game gets everything right. Good puzzles that are tricky rather than intentionally near-impossible, enough monsters to make it challenging rather than hostile, and a save structure that is very family/multiple house member friendly (Game Developers please study this!)

The graphics are only as scary as an old Scooby Doo cartoon, so with the blood turned off, my 4-year old loves sitting on my lap to 'help' me play it. Even my two-year old helps identify 'key key'!

Well worth the money, obviously crafted with love.

INTERSTITIAL  For some unknown reason, the 2.02 version of this plug-in, iTunes 4.7.1, and Mac OS X 10.3.9 resulted in my iTunes being unable to complete launching. It had this weird error dialogue with no actual text in it!

Other than this obscurity, I like the visual effects!

Poser

INTERSTITIAL  I have Poser 6 installed after purchasing the pre-release offer. I think it's a great program, and whilst expensive for me, much cheaper than other programs that create similar quality of image. Yes, the directory structure isn't very mac-like, but it's legacy. At least they're offering to the mac market, and have supported it with every version at least since 2.

The figure manipulation is difficult, but this is due to the huge precision afforded in the posing. Most figures have lots of pose presets. Just grabbing with a mouse cursor might seem intuitive to you, but what on earth is that meant to mean in 3D?

Poser 6 is sufficiently inproved over previous versions to deserve being called a new version. I know I've shelled out for less change in Word, like long file names for example.

Anyway, I had to say something because some other reviews seemed fairly ignorant to me. I get amazed at some of the slamming I see around here - you'd think the programmers weren't other human beings the way some people pontificate on their hard work.
