Compare Folders
Aug 13 2008

INFINITE NEXUS  Several of the noted issues are already in our feature request queue and we consider these for each release.

With regards to a couple of these:

2. A preference for controlling the animations was made available in Preferences -> Appearance to disable this was added in 3.0. In addition, the engine itself was substantially improved in the 3.x series.

6. According to the readme and version history Compare Folders' folder icons have supported drag and drop since v1.1. The application icon also supports drag and drop (since 1.0/1.1)

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  "Open Webmail Directly", the alternate (hold Option key) for "Open Webmail" will work around this firewall block, solving this issue for any users who encounter it. Introduced in DMM 2.0.

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  Note:

After talking with this poster it was determined this was an issue with a firewall on their network that disallowed the webmail address.

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  This may have just been a temporary issue with .mac because I just tried it (as did a few testers) and the link opened perfectly. If you continue to encounter errors please drop us an e-mail and we'll look into it (please keep in mind though that we have no control over the .Mac service itself and are in no affiliated with Apple)

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  While it would be possible to keep your name in the Keychain (dotMacKit blocks direct access to passwords for security purposes) and then match it back up it is not possible to match Apple's URL format for logging in to pages because it is dynamically generated by WebObjects and there is no interface. We thus do best we can and link you directly to the section where you can quickly log in and access the content. If Auto-Fill is enabled you need only wait for the page to load, auto-fill the name and password and then hit return or click the button and you're done.

INFINITE NEXUS  ... that's a bit extreme a generalization to make.

1) Custom icons are supported. DriveGauge not only detects a custom icon already set but it will not overwrite that icon with a generic one but uses the one that is there already.

2) There are known issues listed on the site, in the ReadMe, and in the Help with selecting and setting custom icons. We are working on improving it.

3) Many icon authors do not distribute their icons as .icns files, they distribute them as they were in OS 9, a resource fork, which is not supported by DriveGauge.

For what it's worth, every icon seen at Infinite Nexus was set using DG, not via the Finder or other methods, so it does work. Your experience was obviously not what you wanted, but is that a reason to publicly tarnish a product when you did not even make the effort to get support? (we have not had any support e-mails within the past 4 days, thus I can safely make this statement)

INFINITE NEXUS   There is a built-in Uninstall mechanism in the Preferences that will handle everything automatically.

INFINITE NEXUS  We and our testers have not encountered any crashes when editing preferences but if you could e-mail us the crash logs I'd be more than happy to look into it.

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  DriveGauge doesn't automatically detect a medium's type and give it an icon, if it doesn't already have an icon set at the system-standard location (VolumeName/.VolumeIcon.icns) then DG will assign its default, an HD icon. If you are encountering errors, please contact us for assistance before posting, as we may be able to help you resolve them.

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  DriveGauge doesn't "recognize" styles, you must import them into the application for them to be used. The setup assistant's sole purpose to is remove the old compositing engine and to copy over the default Aqua.gaugeStyle if it's not already there. If you are having errors, please contact us so we can help.

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  The below poster ("William Donalson") has posted inflammatory posts on several Mac sites to defame Infinite Nexus and DriveGauge. We do not feel it is appropriate to air personal matters in a public forum such as this or to embark on multi-site attack campaigns and will not respond in kind to these 'comments.'

If you are concerned over the matters posted by "William Donalson" please take a moment to contact us and we would be happy to provide insight into his comments and actions (as well as ours) with regard to the situation.

INFINITE NEXUS SOFTWARE  Justin, this is not a flaw in the software. If you select "Use Current" the gauged icon already there will be used and another gauge added. Select "Use Backup" or one of the other types to resolve this. Please feel free to contact us via the site or included links in the Help menu, which also includes detailed instructions on how to do everything.
