This version appears to be Japanese Modern. I play Chinese Official only, so I can't evaluate how well this program plays its Japanese-style MJ.

If you prefer other styles of MJ, try the online MJ site, "Mahjongtime.com" They offer 5 different versions/styles and you can play against live people from around the world.

Is there any sign of a User's Guide yet?

The lack of documentation is MacFmilyTree's biggest weakness, and I note they did not include any mention of it in their "What should we do next?" poll.

please, Please, PLEASE produce a complete User's Guide!

MFT's biggest weakness is its lack of documentation. Synium continues to say they are working on it, but I'm beginning to have my doubts.

v1.1 does not install a preference pane on my Mac, and therefore I have no control of the app. Asked for help at the Chronos website but no response so far.

As the only true Mahjongg game available for the Mac, this is a welcome addition to Mac-based games.

One major bug, however: the game often misses potential Chows and bypasses me without giving me the chance to declare them. This is so even when I have precedence, as when no other player wants the tile, and one time, even when the chow would have allowed me to Mahjongg (the highest precedence of all). I've tested this repeatedly and in different ways, such as playing an All-Chow game. Even tho' precedence was now turn-based (no Pungs or Kongs allowed), the game didn't notice Chows available in my tray even when I was next in turn.

I've been trying to determine if there is a pattern to the missed Chows. For example, are the missed ones always the middle tile in the sequence (I have a 5 and 7 coins, and the discard is the 6-coin). But no, the program has missed middle and end tiles.

The bug is intermittent-- it does catch some chows -- but frequent enough to occur several times in each games.

So for now, I'm playing All-Pung games, which so far, the app has never missed.

Once this problem has been fixed, we'd have a true-blue Mahjongg game for the Mac.

Weather Man and Weather Menu haven't worked for me for over a year. When this started happening, I wrote the developer repeatedly, and heard nothing back. I try every new version in the hopes that it fixes the problem, but it never does.

Too bad: back when it was working, it was my favorite of them all. Now I use widgets and Firefox add-ons to get my weather.

Doesn't work at all if you already have a zap2it account. You have to create a new account to enter TV Tracker's certification code, and even then the widget doesn't display TV listings.

My favorite of the Sudoku software. The boards are nice and big. It has features that take care of the busywork but not those that solve the puzzle for you (as Sudoku Susser does.... where's the fun in that?). Also, the developer is open and responsive to suggestions, as this release implemented an idea I sent him a few weeks ago. If you love the challenge of Sudoku, this is the application for you.
