Type: ReviewDate: 18 Dec 2007 04:26It's excellent to not have to remember all the chmod values.. since I don't set things very often, this is golden.

Type: ReviewDate: 19 Nov 2007 00:18Excellent little bit of code. My menubar is getting kind of crowded these days but menu meters are just so very useful! And with all the customizing you can do, they can either take up a little or a lot of bar space, depending on your needs.
They seem to use up far less CPU, RAM and any other three letter acronym than other metering/monitoring tools I've used - and they're configurable.
I also like this software because it doesn't try to all kinds of crazy useless things that it shouldn't. It does what it does and it does it well. And it's free.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 10 Jul 2007 01:04Two problems:
1. Many times, clicks inside the main window cause the whole page to refresh. This makes it hard to interact with the movie playback.
2. Cosmetic bug - the multiple downloads window doesn't scale to the right size to avoid showing a scroll bar.

Type: ReviewDate: 4 Jun 2007 19:21So far this is the best flv download solution I've used. Granted, I haven't used any of the pay-for apps but it doesn't seem like something one should pay for.
I have two things to suggest for TubeTV:
1. Multiple Downloads -
It would be great to be able to hit save on a video, navigate to other videos and hit save again, letting the downloads stack up. A preference for the max number of simultaneous downloads would be wonderful too.
2. Smart Transfer -
If a video has already downloaded (partially or completely) it would be a lot more efficient if the video was simply moved and renamed from its cache file location to the downloads folder, INSTEAD of what happens now, where hitting Save will download the video all over again.

Type: ReviewDate: 4 Jun 2007 18:09This doesn't appear to make the process of downloading embedded flash files much easier. Essentially it seems to allow two things:
1. Naming the download file before it's completed.
2. Batch downloading.
I still have to go into Safari's activity window and hunt down the video url, copy, and paste before I can download it. And that's what I mainly want to avoid.
What I'm hoping for is one click downloading.. or at least an app that can find the video url by itself so I can copy/drag out of the location bar instead.

Type: CommentsDate: 17 Nov 2006 06:28Whatever happened to Jeff Smith?
I wrote him in 2003 about making a new version, an OSX version. He said it was a while off but he was working on it.
Now it's 3 years later, Sound Sculptor is still at v2.4 and I can't find any new info on the program or Jeff Smith (if that's is reeeal name!). Is he going to resurface and update his neato software? Or offer a side-grade? One can only wonder...

Type: ReviewDate: 18 Oct 2006 00:37It's great.. but very crash-prone.
It could use some interface asynchronicity while searching and getting artwork. It doesn't tell you what it's doing until it's done, leaving you the option of feeling trapped or hoping to click the Cancel button.. and not knowing what that will actually cancel.. or what will happen next.
Also, a fire-and-forget mode would be great for having it see what it can find throughout your entire library, unattended.
Otherwise, good work so far.

Type: ReviewDate: 26 Sep 2006 20:10Works okay for small, quickly read prompts. Great that it's free. Uses two monitors well.
Problems:
Anything over about a page of text causes it to fault and quit itself.
Interface is a bit bizarre with so many controls, yet most of the settings I used were hidden in the Preferences window.
Speed is too fast unless you choose the largest font size.. and some fonts aren't big enough at that size to.
The Speeds control box in the Preferences makes no sense. I can't change the Delay and changing the Move numbers doesn't appear to do anything.. and they change when I go back to the prefs.

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 18 Sep 2006 03:15The installer never gets through searching for appropriate volumes. Hence, I can't install it.

Type: CommentsDate: 5 May 2006 18:06Wow... well, I guess if Huey Lewis and The News are still alive and touring, then there may as well be a current version of Ready Set Go released.
Now I'll have to go find that Moof icon.

Type: ReviewDate: 14 Mar 2006 16:47I'm impressed that this software is all of the following:
1. Well Made
2. Free
3. Not Hobbled
4. Distributed by large type foundry
Before trying a pre-1.0 of FontExplorer I'd been having new and unusual font problems with current application and system versions disliking random older fonts. FontBook wasn't helpful enough in diagnosing anything, so I'd tried an older version of Suitcase. That helped a bit but ended up being a not so great band-aid as I'd hoped. I had my sights set on Font Agent, and then Fusion.. one weekend I REALLY needed to get something done and my fonts were wreaking havoc on that project. I was this close to ordering Fusion when I read several posts on this site saying it was full of problems.. and I also happened to find FontExplorer with a post saying they'd dropped Fusion for this. I thought, "Really.. this new free program is better than Extensis's best combined efforts?". So I downloaded and installed it - half out of desperation, half out of not wanting to plunge further into debt.
Once I got it configured and threw the fonts in, I was able to get on with the project and I've been happy with the setup since.. Font Explorer saved the day, it's simply a better piece of software in every way. Sorry to say, but I think Extensis will lose a lot of business.
