MCDADE Then don't use it and don't ask your friends to use it. I find it interesting that you spend the time just to complain. There are plenty of people who want to broadcast up their playlists, and other who like to follow them. It as the option to set timed intervals so that you don't bother your friends with every new track played, so infact over the day you could have it tweet only a few times. (Version 1.2)

KRYSTOF VASA It's fixed in this version. In the previous versions Snippet was returning focus to the previous application by activating it - just as you would by clicking on its icon in the Dock, which - like Snippet did - opens a new document window. We've considered this a feature as when you're working with code your active application is often the development tool - if no window is open it makes sense for one to be created. But it's 'fixed' now. (Version 1.3)

HENRIKTEKNIK I'm still experiencing the same problem as @MRK below. New log messages don't appear on a new line, but instead get added on the same line after previous message (if there's space). While running main app, it's all worky, but when quitting it and running the 'daemon' app, the problem appears. I'm using NerdTool 0.6 on a MacBook Pro mid 2009 OSX 10.5.7 and the log file I'm referring to (haven't tried anyone else) is the /var/log/system.log file, setup to be viewed in full screen (i.e. all the way until it hits the exposé borders on all sides). Lux Delux | Jan 3 2009 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I think there's too much nitpicking on how one should play this game and the "rules" about how to interpret the rules. In my mind, the game rules ARE the rules; the rest is up to you – otherwise, the game should take responsibility for preventing someone to attack the way they want, etc. I was looking for a game where I could just pop by and have a few shootouts, then leave. But no, that's NOT okay with the people playing Lux… You can't just enter and play by your own chaos tactics however you want. Stepping on someones toe will mean about 10-30 comment lines teaching you what you did wrong – at best – and more often, lead to even more befooling. You are adviced to ask: "Is it OK with you, if I attack you in South America?"… (which of course is a huge disappointing element for someone who just want a game or two during lunch break or likewise). My point of view: if I come in and play the game with my own uncanny/barbarian ways, I'd rather learn the consequences by myself, and I certainly didn't pay $24.95 just to express that I'm sorry if I so happened to "ruin" someone elses game. Who cares? I hope I'll have a reason to retract these comments, but this is my honest conclusion: if you're not a hardcore player of Risk-like games – this is NOT for you, period. And If you (like me) don't have the time or interest learning each little code of conduct, then again, this isn't for you. The way I wish to play this game is to simly act with passion and a bit of fun, making rough estimations, and if (at all) I feel a need to become more skilled, I'd prefer to "teach" myself – learning form my own "mistakes". Not by being yelled at, in a chat communication window. The developer needs to address this in order to attract a larger audience. Perhaps there should be a public server open for free interpretation. The game itself is pretty fun – enough for me to buy it after I tried the demo, at which time I was unaware of the prohibiting nature of its online games. (Version 5.7)

Wave Editor | Nov 11 2008 |
HENRIKTEKNIK This is a winning app. Wave Editor is an extremely well-adviced craftsman tool for prestigious audio athletes. It deserves the highest accolade for maintaining an even balance between ultimate simplicity and insane competence. Every once in a decade, a brilliant star will hit the software market—this is my pearl. One that I would swear upon and even be willing to speak in fanatic tongue about, should there be any slandering about it. I can't see how anyone into sound design using Mac would ever want to look for something else. This is the audio software world's equivalent to the X-Acto knife. A few examples of its selling points, to me, would be: - Zero, null, zilch playback stuttering. And I repeat, none. - Direct MIDI playability of the sample you work with (again, without no stuttering ever; just like having a sampler with very competent editing facilities) - A single track - Multiple layers. This is a novel approach in the genre, and I think this gives a very organic feel—almost like modeling—to it, when adding and subtracting layers in your project. Even better, all layers can have separate effect plugins attached to them; hell, even multiple sets of audio plugins on each layer. (Which is just one example of how deep this seemingly spartan app can be.) - Well, read for yourself, the specs on the developer website. The app is actively developed and has been around for a good while now. I've been using it since it first launched, years ago. The developer team is also a very conversational group, who listen well to what their customers have to say. One note, before wrapping it up. This app used to cost a lot more than 3 times its current price: $250 before, $79 now. I'm sorry if it looks suspicious, but I can't give this app anything but fives in rating. That is an accurate score. (Version 1.4.4)

Domain Name Grabber | May 26 2008 |
HENRIKTEKNIK The fact that it's not just performing simple whois queries, based on which, it makes assumptions whether the domain is up for grabs or not; and that's it. It does more (less?) than that... To me, it seems like this is more of a storefront for a commercial service, for which the developer takes advantage of the easy/quick way of marketing stuff for free, via Dashboard widgets. I was expecting this widget to display the searches from within the widget itself, not to act like all those other meaningless widgets that simply points people to a specific website, working as undercover promotion, or pseudo-adware if you like. HENRIKTEKNIK I have one huge beef with this app: The toolbar button for Path editing (called 'Sketch') needs to be split into two separate buttons... one for path, and one for smooth path. ...AND, I really don't like that it automatically switches to the Select tool once you've closed/finished working on a path. In other words, I'd like to click the path button and then directly start working: i.e. _not_ having to choose between normal path or smooth path editing. And again, I can't stress this far enough: please make it so that you keep the path editing tool activated after making a path!! Other than that, the application is slowly beginning to take form. Clockwork | Apr 13 2008 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Although I might be mistaken of the intended concept behind Clockwork, I'm desperately looking for a function to make it work as an alarm clock as well... I can't for the life of me find a way to set an alarm at a specific time! Sure, I can calculate in my head, that, if time's 8.26 in the morning, when I'm about to set my recurring (once a day) Lunchtime alarm, I will have to set it to 03:34:00 in Clockwork's 'alarm' mode. I think the definition of 'alarm' in Clockwork is somewhat misleading, as it more resembles the functionality of a 'countdown' timer. An alarm, per se, (at least for me) is something you set, to go off at a specific time. On a final note, about the application itself. It looks georgeous and I really want to find some use for it. But again, I was hoping it could work as a tea time, lunchtime, bedtime, morning coffee, etc. alarmer, which is easy to set up and easy to change in terms of such a schedule. Another thing I'd wish for, is a way to set off AppleScripts or open files at the alarm time. (Version 1.4.2)

HENRIKTEKNIK I would suggest the introducing of a small "vote for removal" button next to comments and reviews. HENRIKTEKNIK 2 major drawbacks: - Finder will stall and show the beach ball cursor for the time it takes to upload file(s) to the ftp server... JPPAGLIARO Thanks for the feedback. Both issues will be addressed in a soon to be released update, maybe version 1.0.8. The contextual menu presently uses the URL method simply for simplicity - although this user didn't seem to find it simple :-) As noted elsewhere the general format is: The issue with the blocking of the Finder during an upload is of a technical nature which is being resolved. In the meantime please note that the present version has better support for console logging which can at least alleviate the uncertainty of progress during large uploads. BUMBLEB Same here, can't access their site. Pretty bad if they just leave with no word at all. Maybe Leopard's Parental Controls made them quit business? Leopard's Parental controls does not control individual apps as well as Mac Minder does (did?) though... I have no kids, I just have ADD, which keeps me occupied with all kinds of obsessive / hyperfocus stuff with me being very frustrated getting into such timewasting loops, instead of working. Been trying Mac Minder before, but then my girlfriend forgot the password and I had to uninstall, and then the demo expired, and then I was not gonna buy before Leopard was released to see how well the new Parental Controls would work for me... Now I'm considering having several user accounts, since Parental Controls is not cutting it for me, as I'm not a child. I just can't control myself;-/ This long comment is timewaste, I now realise... Since the medical community thinks everyone is ADD these days, it would be a business opportunity if a developer would develop a cool ADD coaching app. Something like a mix of Mac Minder and MacBreakz and Life Balance / OmniFocus and Alarm Clock Pro / FlexTime. Often I've wished Mac Minder would sync with iCal and give me a calendar, that tells me which hours I can use which apps. That would help a lot, just as an example... Developers, do something new! WriteRoom | Jul 24 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Very inspiring application. And it's carried out in a nice and simple, minimalistic way. WriteRoom, to me, has a very geeky appeal. Feels like being on top of what you're doing, and it makes you realize how smart you really are. Something that's often times remained unthought of, is the user experience; do people actually get anything produced (in this case written) with the apps they're using? And if so, is that because they were never distracted by cluttery, feature-packed user interfaces? Sure there are other apps that might succeed in the same regard that WriteRoom does, but there is none that resembles the looks and strictly minimal concept of this fine application. Also, I'd like to regard WriteRoom as being a writer's 'tool', rather than a full-blown word processor. It is reachable from pretty much anywhere, and jumps in as a refreshing aid in times when you need that extra focus to concentrate. (Version 2.2)

As well as having the daemon update once after each computer restarts (that is, if it doesn't already do that). Otherwise, No-Ip is a winner! I love everything else about it. Thanks. As far as whether the updating of my IP goes, it might be working or might not, that is, my problem with visitors being unable to enter my server, could possibly be related to the web server I'm using (Abyss Web Server). Keyclick | Jul 4 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK The latest update (1.1.1) adds a nice feature, the 'Do Include vs Exclude'. If I understand it correct, that option will simply switch the behavior from Excluding the apps you have in the list, into just Include those applications and let any other process be unaffected by Keyclick's sounds, right? My problem is that the "include-only" function doesn't seem to work. I can still hear sounds in all processes when I'm in "include-only" mode. Also, are the Mouse Button click sounds "global", eg. not possible to set on a per-application basis? I would very much like to be able to set up Keyclick to, say, only be activated in TextMate and similar apps. Otherwise, I think the app is getting better and better, good job! (Version 1.1.1)

PETER SICHEL I'm guessing you didn't actually update the previously running Keyclick server. After installing a new version, you must turn off Keyclick momentarily and "Show All" or quit System Preferences. This will stop any previous version of the Keyclick Server. If you then open the prefpane and turn keyclick back on, the new features should be available. Alternatively, you can use Acitivity Monitor to stop the previous "KeyclickServer", or simply Restart your computer if that's easier.

I have no idea of other users' experience in this regard, but for me, this is a major downer. I may have to add, there's a chance this could be related to the fact that I have several other context-menu plugins installed as well; OnMyCommand, PathSnagger, Photo Tool CM, QuickImage, Finder Icon CM... but (!) my context-menu operated perfectly before and after having the TagBot plugin there, so either there's a "collision" going on between the plugs, or there's a "glitch" in the TagBot.plugin code. Can't say for how long I've been waiting for exactly this app, but it's been long enough to say: Finally, you did it! On a side note. I have one humble request for a freature, that I'd like to see: - Undo functionality. As in, if you move a ruler and you moved it wrong, hitting Command-Z would make it even easier to set it back to where it was before. This is easily worth 5 stars from me. (Version 1.0.132)

HENRIKTEKNIK I'm starting to have high beliefs in this app! It just managed to become my prime audio player for quick previews! Although it works great already, I have some comments about things that I'd like to see improved: (1) Scroll-wheel support for fast forward/rewind! (2) Option to always have Loop mode on between program launches. (3) The song rating mechanism could be a little smoother. (4) When a sound file repeats, there is a short 'flashing' in the file's information, which (?) seems to cause a short, microscopic glitch in the playback when it repeats. This is mostly noticeable when looping small soundfiles, say, for example a 1.5 second white noise loop. (I'm a sound designer, that's why I'm picky about this. But QuickTime and iTunes both have even worse glitches when looping and repeating sounds, so Play is already ahead in this regard, but couldn't hurt trying to reach total glitch-free looping anyways.) Xee | May 8 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I've had some bad experience with Xee lately, rendering images corrupted/non-readable by any program. For instance, I opened up some pictures that I had taken with my Pentax Optio WP "cheapo" digital camera, and I performed a 90 degrees clockwise rotation on a picture and then hit Command-S to save. When I reopened the same picture in Xee, Preview and all kinds of other programs, I get error messages saying something about the picture having wrong header info, or missing such. Glad to see some resolvement to this issue, as I think Xee is a wonderful application otherwise. (Version 2.0)

LECTRICK I'm going to take a swag here and guess that your "cheapo" camera is not itself writing the jpeg file in an ideal fashion and this only makes itself evident when Xee tries to rotate it. I'd recommend a 2 step workaround- first do a Save As on the jpeg, and then reopen in Xee. (Version 2.0)

HENRIKTEKNIK Thanks for your reply, lectrick, but the image became only a few Kb "big", which make it impossible to open in for instance Preview.app... It's just as if its resources went depleted somehow. I loved everything about Xee and would very much like to start using it again. But seeing that this strip of image resources occured one time too many now, when I rotate pictures in Xee, I'm afraid I don't dare risking to loose one more picture... I hope this is due to something else, but so far, my pictures have stopped disappearing when using other image viewers. (Again, I still regard Xee as being the sweetest of them all. It's a pity for me, this.) (Version 2.0)

HENRIKTEKNIK I have a request for iGTD: - An option to not show iGTD in the Dock and Application Switcher. In my opinion, there is no reason to show it there, since it already (and quite conveniently) resides in the status menu bar. Having it in the Dock/App Switcher makes is somewhat redundant and "in the way", so to speak. I know there is a tool called Dockless, which can do what I want, but I really prefer not to use that program, since it's buggy and appears to be abandoned as a program. (Version 1.3.1.1)

IFWEBMASTER After *extensive* testing on our end before the game was launched, mapping keys to the six outer circles proved extremely frustrating and caused more problems than it solved. The problem isn't the keys, its the player. We found that when a player would go to press a key to place a piece, they would select the key based on the *orientation of the piece* and NOT the position of the circle it was going into. This caused a kind of "brain short-circuit" in the player and he/she had to end up greatly thinking about what key to press in order to place the piece correctly. It definately was not as good a solution as the selection method we finally decided on. We were worried that such key mapping would make the game too easy, but it actually made it MUCH more difficult. (Version 1.1)

I'm certainly not a GTD boffin, but to me, the concept and layout of Actiontastic and iGTD do not look too divergent. Still, of course, I somehow realize why there would be an understandable reason not to consolidate these projects, judging from the developers' standpoints. I'm not sure how easy it would be to just let go of (or reform beyond recognition) something that one spent countless sleepless hours to come up with... Just a thought (or wish, I should say). MacGizmo | Mar 16 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK This is just my opinion, and others might think the opposite. But I found the interface to be a little obtrusive. I certainly don't want this tool to pop up on any and every single applicable file that I'm hovering the mouse over. I might very likely be missing something crucial here, but after my quick evaluation, I decided to pass this one, since I couldn't find any Preferences in order to set it up, so that it pops up less often (and only when I want it to). In such a case, where there IS a Preferences window somewhere in MacGizmo, please forgive me for missing it, but nevertheless, in that case I would suggest that the developer make it more clear how reach it. Lots of people evaluate (software) products in a matter of seconds. And if you don't feel right at home from the start, you simply toss it away. So there's probably some room for improvements there. I also found the window's graphic style a bit unconventional (which doesn't necessarily have to be all that wrong). Adding an option to set it to normal Finder style ui graphics would be great. Even adding a second, more clean and elegant graphic style would be prefereable. Something like the smallish windows in Aperture, where the windows are all different gradations of black (with transparency in them). This is meant as constructive criticism, as I'd love to see MacGizmo become a great app, since the main idea and concept are all great. And because of my very quick/limited/intolerant test evaluation, I'm not rating this down, as I might have missed some major qualities in that short time. Good luck with further improvement! TabExpose | Mar 14 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Operation is a bit flaky. Pressing the designated keyboard shortcut doesn't bring up the exposé feature right away, and in most cases not at all (although it does work *sometimes*, about 1/10 of the times I press it). I wasn't allowed to evaluate this for more than a mere 2 minute, since I ended up in a situation where I seemed to have 'used up' a certain number of times that I'm allowed to invoke TabExposé in evaluation mode. Frankly, I don't see what huge advantage TabExposé would bring to the table, over the normal Exposé. For a v1.0 release, at least it should be working flawlessly. For me, it didn't. Although, I'm not sure if that's having anything to do with the fact that I have three other plugins installed for my Safari; SafariPlus, PithHelmet and TabStop. (Version 1.0)

This is starting to bug me off, as SoundConverter is just too flaky. I hate to say that, but it's true. I don't know how many times I've got error messages popping up when trying to make simple aiff/aif/wav to mp3 conversions and such... And today, it managed to convert my aif files to mp3 allright... except for one, very time consuming and annoying thing; it converted the files to about 4/5 of the total length of the originals... These things and many more glitches makes this app seriously disappointing. Which is a real pity, since I think SoundConverter's interface is nice and simple to use. And why does it toss in a lot of funny temp files next to my original files, while converting? For what I remember, temp files with the extensions of .sf/.ogg/.au, etc. use to pop up when converting (although they disappear after completion, so I guess that's no problem). I hate to complain, and I even apologize for that, if it feels unfair. But I believe that straight criticism can sometimes helps pushing things further. (Version 070307)

At first, I thought there were some things in Nexuiz, that didn't behave exactly as you're used to. First and foremost, the player movements have a slight accelleration/descelleration added to it. Which makes it feel a little funny in the beginning. But after a while, you're perfectly ok with it (I mean, perfectly ok with it). Now on to some details. The sound effects are great. But, the music - although not every track - is, at times, super rad! Ingeniously crafted into this game, the music literally pumps out your adrenaline. It's that great. I must frankly say, that I really can't collect my optimistic thoughts about this game and express it in words. I am struggling hard not to buy this game. Like previous commenter, I also think that the pricing model for this game is a bit extreme. Admittedly, I really dig the online highscore system; it's excellently designed and I think it plays a big role in the fun, with a game like this, but the price you have to pay, in order to participate, is... well, a bit much. This game is radical! So radical, that I wouldn't hesitate to rank it evenly - if not before - the previous king in obsessive casual games; the Palm pilot version (not the computer ditto) of Bejeweled 2. Whereas Frenzic has a very different plot than Bejeweled 2, its addiction-factor is just the same; you can't stop playing! Design, look and feel of Frenzic is top notch. The sound and music fits very well in with the rest, adding a lot of immersive drama to the game. And again, the online high score system looks and operates very (!) smoothly. I like how they didn't make it just a highscore list, per-se, but actually added some further depth to it, by means of making it more 'community-like', where you can add and compare your score with friends, etc. This game manages to carve out its own, unique little space, in a genre that is stiflingly overpopulated with tons of different casual games trying to appeal their audience. Albeit, what might throw a spanner in the works for Frenzic, is its aggressive pricing model, which, if lowered a couple of bucks, could help popularity (and sales alltogether) rise to epic propotions...! Now, I might prove wrong just as well. (I'm not a marketing expert.) For all I know, I'm still struggling to resist the urge to splurge and buy the game, without blinking, now and here. SoundApp Reborn | Feb 24 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I'm very happy to see that someone's taking on the task of reinstating SoundApp for OS X! I know that this is in early development, but I ran it through a quick evaluation and these were the things that I stumbled across. I will not put a review score on this app, in its current state, as I think SoundApp Reborn is in a rather unfinished state. The following list is meant as constructive criticism, hoping that it might help tracking down things that, if fixed, might improve things in SoundApp Reborn. - Doesn't allow drag & drop of file(s) onto the application icon. - Repeat loops the sounds with a small pause glitch between the end and beginning - The Info window persists popping up when double-clicking a file in the list (would be nice to be able to choose whether or not to see this, like in QuickTime) - Help menu doesn't lead to a help file (frequently debated issue, but personally I think it shouldn't be there if there is no help) - Navigation is very quirky; when you are in the list (without having the Info window opened) and press Up or Down arrow keys, you select the next/previous file in the list (which is all fine), but when you've pressed Space, to preview a sound (and again, when the Info window automatically pops open), the Up and Down arror keys doesn't maintain their original function (select previous/next sound) - Bug: It seems to mess with keyboard input (at least on my machine). When I'm using TextMate, TextEdit or any other program with some kind of text input field it gets impossible to input anything! This issue occurs when having a loop playing in SoundApp Reborn, and exactly when the starts over again. - This is just a subjective opinion: The icon doesn't necessarily have to be all "OS 9-esque". I can see why it's been made so as to resemble how the original SoundApp was looking (which isn't bad), but it looks a bit hastily created and would benefit from some more afterthought and polish. HENRIKTEKNIK Can someone explain what the previous speaker is talking about? What's weird about this developer? The only thing I find perhaps somewhat close to (yet not exactly) 'weird', is the "Use at your own risk" text, which might seem a little, as said earlier, ominous. Other than that, I can't see what's supposed to be spooky about this app at all. Seems like a decent, simple todo pad. (Version 0.1)

HENRIKTEKNIK Very nifty way to learn & practice regexes with!! 1-trick pony app with a simple interface, no bloat, no extras; just the way I want it. Could be nice, like previous speaker mentioned, with some sort of color distinctions for different matches... maybe. (Version 1.0)

Fire Widget | Feb 20 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I like design of the widget, but it's not perfect, yet. I've been using Übertragen, a similar widget to Fire Widget, that does the same, and even more things on top of that. - It has a very smart feature of automatically copying the actual http:// address to the file you just uploaded, so that you can pass this info to someone else. No need to re-edit those ftp:// links that you get from other programs, such as Yummy FTP. This is the main great thing about Fire Widget, that makes me devide to keep it in my Dashboard. - First off, I had a little trial and error in order to get it to work at all. Reason for that, was that I looked too much on the hints in the address fields, etc. that come with it. For instance, the first one - the 'Host:' field - has a generic 'host.com' text already there. So I thought, well, I'll just enter my site and the domain extension after that and here we go. But in fact, you will need to enter 'ftp.host.com' for instace. Same thing with the 'FTP Path:' field, where one doesn't know whether to input the whole 'ftp.host.com' followed by the /path/to/some/folder/, OR, as it turned out to be, only the 'path/to/some/folder/' thing, and leave it like that. The rest of the things in the preferences window look allright though. - Secondly, I take it you can have multiple instances of this widget, for dirrerent sites and/or folders. Now, I miss some sort of text info, that clearly indicates to which server 'this' particular widget is connected to, without having to flip to the preferences side and look it out. But that's about it, for my criticism. Other than that, I think it looks great! So, thanks a bundle, and good luck to the developer! (Version 0.1)

Typewriter Keyboard | Feb 20 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Also check Keyclick: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24053 Keyclick does the same, except for letting you choose custom sounds from the interface (although you can do it manually via 'Show Package Contents' in Keyclick's prefpane and replacing the sounds within). 15 euros for Typewriter Keyboard... ...$2.50 for Keyclick (that'd be approx. 1.90 euro) The rest is your choice. gDisk | Feb 16 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Each time I'm starting it up, I'm asked for the login/password to GMail. Doesn't seem like it wants to stick. (And I have of course also checked the 'Add to Keychain' button.) A short question also: is it possible to somehow share a download link to my uploaded file, to someone else? Does GMail allow for that? Otherwise, gDisk looks all nice and I'm sure you'll work the kinks out of it. I'll keep an eye out for this in the future. (Version 0.6.1)

Keyclick | Feb 15 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I just bought this genius application! But I'm waiting with a review score until I've posted about a feature request that I have: - I'd like to see an option for using my own sound in Keyclick! Not that the built-in sound is bad (it's actually nice), but it would add to the fun and perfonalization effect, if I could make my own sound to it. (Version 1.0.1)

Keyclick | Feb 15 2007 |
PETER SICHEL It's easy enough to substitute your own sounds for the ones provided by deconstructing the application. In the Finder, you can "Show Package Contents" to bring up the Sounds folder inside KeyclickServer.app which is inside the Keyclic.prefpane . To provide a User Interface for adding your own sounds might detract from the programs simplicity, but I'm open to specific suggestions. You can Email me using the contact information in the ReadMe.

Code Collector | Feb 12 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I'd like to take the opportunity also (no offense to the developer of Code Collector, but this is a consumer oriented site after all), that there is a very nice alternative ditto app, called iSnip ( http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17045 ). Although not being updated for a while now, iSnip sports the ability to categorize your code snippets. And on top of that, it also doubles as a multiple clipboard items memory, and you can invoke it with a keyboard shortcut if you like. As long as Code Collector doesn't have the ability to sort snippets into categories - which is very convenient when you, for instance, want to separate a lot of snippets into different programming languages - I prefer iSnip. I.e., be able to show (in realtime) when you change a layer's transparency. - Command-+/- for zooming. - Scroll-wheel support for zooming. - Option to not let the screen dim when you make a selection. Plus, alternatively adding an option to use a more 'conventional' type of marquee (again, á la Photoshop). - More enhanced gradient editor. - Do I dare asking? Bezier-curves/simple vector gfx support? :) Good luck! And thanks so far! (Version 0.1.8p3)

Dragster | Feb 1 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Very difficult to send a file in a normal LAN via Bonjour. I think there should had been some clear documentation of this (Bonjour transfers, that is) in the built-in Help documentation, just for this feature alone, since I believe that many (with me) are looking for an easy way of tossing files around in their local network. Maybe it's me being dumb, or maybe it didn't work. For all I know, I spent 20 minutes without managing to send a simple widget.wdgt file over Bonjour. I ended up getting various error messages and eventually gave it all up. If it's me, missing something that is supposed to be 'obvious' (then I apologize for my somewhat sceptical review), or if it's the app that is actually falling short in terms of Bonjour transfers; I'm still left with the task undone. I was hoping for this application to be *the* file transfering hub that I was looking for. I'm returning to the free and quite capable alternative, Übertragen (widget application). HENRIKTEKNIK VERY nice image viewer. I like that it shows a chequered background for transparent areas! And even with *diagonal* squares (= even better than straight squares.) Some wishes for improvement: - Disable scroll-wheel operation while cropping images! (To prevent accidental "loss in focus" while cropping.) - Smaller toolbar icons for Rename, Delete, etc. - Cosmetic: Option for having Xee automatically put its window on the center of the screen. - After editing a picture with an external editor, and saving anew, having Xee still show that picture after you saved it. Right now, it seems to put the edited picture last in the viewing 'queue'. (I might have missed some feature that remedies this. If so, nevermind this.) Keep up the great work. This is definitely replacing Preview.app and any other 3rd party image viewers on my computer. (Version 2.0)

HENRIKTEKNIK Ok, I know this is an early beta (and I'm not going to put any review stars as it's not finished), but I think the interface is very confusing. - Icons/buttons doesn't clearly depict what's going to happen when I press them, hence I find myself waiting for the tooltip hints to show up. - I find the layout of the interface and its mechanisms to be very quirky. For instance, if I click on something in the list, I would expect it to be pasted at the text prompt the unuderlying program, but that didn't happen. Instead there's a separate icon for this. - I stopped bothering after a while. For instance, how do I get text copied in a program *into* the application? I expect it to just *be* there in the program meny, after copying some text, but it wasn't. Maybe I've gotten it all wrong, but what I was looking for in this program, was mainly a multiple clipboard items repository/app, with some form of 'extra' spice to it. All in all. This might become a useful application, but right now, it's too confusing. (Version 1.0b)

OMNIUS Thanks for your feedback. Points 1 and 2 I am weighing... the design is non-standard and perhaps could be made more intuitive. I appreciate your weighing in. As for the third, TK does in fact keep a copy of all text copied from any application to the clipboard. You CAN configure TK to keep 0 results, and you can choose to hide those entries from your search. So maybe that is why you couldn't see the text you copied from other apps? Oh, and feel free to email me with the link given from within the program, or chat with me from the button on limbiclogic.com. I would be happy to help you directly, and it would help me see how I could improve the user interface... (Version 1.0b)

shadowClipboard | Jan 27 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Vicious problem happened to me while testing this application. I was evaluating it today and it all ended up bogging down my computer to a nearly 100% stall, where I was unable to do anything. I don't remember what exactly I was doing in the app, but I noticed that it rapidly hit something in my Edit menu, since that menu was blinking like a "stroboscope". I think it was when I just clicked on a picture-type of clipboard item in shadowClipboard when it happened. Might have something to do with the fact that I simultaneously had a similar application running (Jumpcut) at the time I tested shadowClipboard. And after a second thought, Jumpcut doesn't allow for image clipboards, it's text-only, so that's a possible theory for what happened. But when I finally reached Terminal and shadowClipboard's pid, and killed it, everything went back to normal. If the problem occurs once again, while still having Jumpcut on, I'll try killing Jumpcut instead, in order to see if I can zero in on the problem as being Jumpcut related. Now, I know, if you use shadowClipboard, that you don't need Jumpcut or any ditto app, but I just thought I'd report the occurrence I just experienced in here anyway. (Version 3.0.4)

HENRIKTEKNIK Hi, you asked for my CPU usage. I have a Mac G5 dual 2.5 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 XT Pro (256 MB), PPC, OS X 10.4.8. I tried to use some of the memory analyzing programs in the Developer suite, but I'm not too sure how they works, so I used the old 'top' method in Terminal. In normal operation, without moving the mouse or doing anything that affects Focus, it's between 0.6% - 1.1% CPU (never less, never more than this). If I switch from the current program to another program, Focus goes up to about 4.5% CPU, and stays there for about 1.0 seconds. Maximum CPU usage value that I've seen so far: 10.3% CPU. At the time of this test, I only had Safari, Mail and Terminal open. Although, I'm using a lot of window-less apps such as iCalViewer, Zooom, Relaunch, MacMinder, etc. I don't mean to say that Focus is a complette memory hog, not by any chance. :) But if it could help in any way, these are my statistics. Good luck with further improvement and thanks a bundle, for a very nice application! (I definitely intend to keep using it!).

HENRIKTEKNIK While this all sounded like a promising application, I found it to be *way* too complicated for me to install a trial version and run it. In fact, I gave up, as it demand that I install a lot of extras that doesn't even exist. (The Darwinports thingy wasn't there on the aforementioned link.) While being temped to rate this according to my (short) experience with this program, I would find it pointless to rate something which leaves me left with a visual impression ranging from non-existent to none... except for an application icon. Please make this a MAC application :) As an aside (the product probably doesn't deserve it, but) it *does* look very promising and all, yet alas the hassles of getting it to *work* would surely leave any inquirer stuck in the door, so to speak. Just a minor wish (actually, quite a big wish, if I'm not wrong?): - Integration with major FTP clients (Yummy FTP, et. al.), so you can hit the "Login with FTP Client" or somesuch button, and you're there. - Also, some sort of encryption wouldn't hurt either. Not a biggie though.) - This is my biggest grief with MkConsole; I would love it, if there was an option to supress those dialogs that pop up, for when there is a missing log files on the hard drive, that you have specified in the list. Here is how I use Linkaboo (in tandem with other apps) to make email links for iCal events. - High Priority, $6 (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20377) - OnMyCommand, freeware (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9283) I have set LinkABoo to be executed from within my OnMyCommand contextual menu. So, in Mail.app, I right-click on the email in question, then select LinkABoo from the context-menu, after which LinkABoo will open. After that, I open High Priority from the Finder menu bar, schedule an iCal To Do from within High Priority and finally, I drop the LinkABoo link onto HighPriority's URL field! MailTags | Jan 5 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I'm still evaluating MailTags and I like it so far. I would be happier if I didn't have to open iCal to do this. I also use a program called High Priority (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20377), and there you can add iCal todos without opening iCal. Reason also, why I don't (or rarely) want to open iCal, is that I can see my todo's and calendar items directly on the desktop, using another fine app called iCalViewer (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11500). Service Scrubber | Dec 22 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK This is just great. It doesn't do much, but for what it does, it performs great. It's fascinating how Apple wouldn't implement such a feature within Finder, right off the bat. I've never had any problems with Service Scrubber and it will continue to be part of my most essential apps collection. 5 stars, all cathegories. (Version 1.1.3)

CocoThumbX | Dec 21 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I like this! I just wish I had an option to save the icon thumbnail when you choose the Save Icns option. That way you would not have to go back to CocoThumb and choose Add Thumbnail once again, on the just saved .Icns file. This would replace Iconverter completely for me. (Version 2.3)

AcidSearch | Dec 21 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Btw. I think it *might* be the culprit to why my Safari crashes every time I press the TAB key some times. (Try pressing it some 10 times or so.) I hope I'm not wrong. I have SafariPlus installed also, so it could as well be related to that.) (Version 0.62)

STEVE46 It's true. AcidSearch doesn't like it when you tab between form elements at times. I had an email exchange with the developer about it in November 2006, and the problem is supposed to be fixed in the next version. However, it's been almost a year now since AcidSearch has seen an update, so I'm not holding my breath. (Version 0.62)

Overflow | Dec 20 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Half a day worth of evaluating Overflow, my excitement is almost unspeakable. Because my jaws fell down the basement and my wallet just started dancing on my desk. With spending trousers on, I am onwards to possessing a marvelous piece of a shining ...COMMAND BRIDGE!

Screen Sieve | Dec 20 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Edit to my last post (and forgive me for comment bloating): I just realized that you can, in fact, use this within Finder itself! Blazing app, this! Thanks again and I'll keep my commenting constrained now. :) (Version 1.0)

Screen Sieve | Dec 19 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK By the way, adding to my little list of modest feature requests below. - This is a far out one. And might be too complicated to implement, but here goes: How about Finder desktop/and window support!? You'd be able to pinpoint files on the desktop in a snap! (Sure, you can type the first letters of a file, and the Finder will mark the first matching file for you. But you can't show multiple matches with the Finder.) Just a suggestion, not crucially important, but would be awesome if it's possible. (Version 1.0)

Screen Sieve | Dec 19 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK This is dynamite!! Absolutely genius. I only have some modest requests: - Some way of scrolling through results further down in the window. For instance, I'm using Command-Ctrl-F for ScreenSieve, and it would be cool to be able to use Command-Ctrl-G for a page down action, plus showing more results along the document. (Maybe enabling the use of Arrow down/up within the context of having ScreenSieve showing the results would be cool also.) - Some way for ScreenSieve to remember searches between "sessions" (i.e. after closing ScreenSieve and invoking it once again). So that you can close ScreenSieve and then hit, for instance, said Command-Ctrl-G (or the key combo you have specified) to search again, in the same, or even another window. - Sparkle updating? :) Not a biggie. Just some spontaneous thoughts. I am very grateful for this invention of yours, Developer! Great work. (Version 1.0)

AcidSearch | Dec 19 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Great application. Adds very useable features to Safari, and it eliminates the need to have a whole plaethora of Dashboard widgets to search various sites! Stability has been somewhat iffy for me. But it's not unbeareable, and I'll definitely let this stay in my Safari. I wish it could remember your searches, after having "de-clicked" (or deselected) the marked search results in a page. They way it seems to work now, is, when you've searched for something, then deselect, and then try to use the keyboard shortcut for Next Result and Previous Result, it won't look them up again. Instead, you have to do a search again, which feels a little unneccessary mayhaps. :) Other than that, and some rare crash (for instance, when visiting http://www.discogs.com and dragging its favicon to the Channel window in the prefs...), this is EXCELLENT. Looking forward to see its future. And many thanks to the Developer! (Version 0.62)

SafariBlock | Dec 19 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK This app feels spooky. It adds cookies that goes to a site that is somehow connected to the developer. While this might not pose any risk for the end users, I think it would be appropriate if the developer added some form of explanation to this behaviour in the program description. Seing what other types of programs have been made by this developer - key logging kexts, "mac crack" apps and somesuch - I think, in these days, with computer fraud being a trivial threat, one should be aware of anything that goes on "under the hood" of programs. I don't mean to let this, hopefully nicely intended, and by all other means, well executed app down. And I will not rate it down either, here on MacUpdate. But you know, if one is being paranoid about computer fraud and all things related to that chapter, you probably understand the concerns that one might have, in being kept in-the-know of what's really going on with apps like this. So my question is, it seems it only saves cookies when choosing to 'check for updates' in SafariBlock's prefs: Why does it have to save these cookies (8 in total) and what are they for?: I hope my question is not taken as being offensive (I don't mean to). Good luck and Merry X-Mas! :) (Version 1.14)

FSB_SOFTWARE No idea what those cookies are, but they have nothing to do with SafariBlock, and you apparently have no idea what you're talking about. If you don't want to use SafariBlock then don't download it. (Version 1.14)

KOSOVAR1 Beware Greeks bearing gifts! Someone who's more knowlegeable than I in Macs should checking into the comments about the possibility that SafaiBlock installed suspicious cookies and then "phoned home." Any developer like this one who allegedly has written key recording utilities and similar programs should be considered suspect. Just read the reply he gave to the guy who asked about his legit concerns. You really can't be too cautious with computers on the internet. I've been burned too many times by internet fraud of one sort or another over the years. (Version 1.15)

SafariBlock | May 29 2007 |
FSB_SOFTWARE Then don't download the software that I spent my time on and am offering for free. You get what you pay for. I can't believe that people would complain about something that is useful, offered for free, and takes time to create. (Version 1.15)

SafariBlock | May 30 2007 |
HENRIKTEKNIK Dear FSB Software, As of being uninformed. Yes, that's exactly what I am. Hence, I thought I'd send you a message, hoping you'd be kind enough to spread some light on the wonderings I had. If you don't like the idea of replying back with a quick response to questions like mine, I'd be somehow confused why you choose to register your products with a service like MacUpdate. Mind you, this is a place for questions like those I had, and still have. It's a place for information about new and updated software. I have a lot to thank kind people like you, who dedicate their free (even not free) time to create free software like yours. That's worth a lot of kudos and respect! If my questions were rude or annoyingly uninformed in any way, please accept my apologies for that. But wouldn't it kind of shorten a discussion like this, if we worked together; you being the creator of fine software, and us users trying to stay as informed as we can, whereas, if any, concerns are being allowed to be asked in a politely manner? To me, that looks like an ideal situation. Have a great summer! (Version 1.15)

SafariBlock | Jul 9 2008 |
XENOPHILE A valid question, and a suspicious response from the developer. No explanation, no answer to the actual question, instead we get an ad hominem and some tripe about how hard he worked on the app. One would think that a developer of ad-blocking software would understand concerns about privacy and malware. (Version 2.1)

Overflow | Dec 19 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I'm giving this a 5 star rating. Looks fabulous, works fabulous, performs just super fabulous!! Being an interface fetischist, I can't help but getting annoyed when I accidentally move the window slightly, in one direction or the other. Right now, I would have to go to the prefs and click the button that sets it back to normal/default position. Now. It would be GREAT if this specific prefs option was taken a bit further, so that you can have it always default to normal/default position; EVEN if you so happened to move it the last time you were using Overflow. This would bring Overflow into the final phase of interface nirvana. (In fact, I think this feature of windows "stickyness" is - ironically - highly underrated and often forseen far too many Mac apps. Hint to developers.) (Version 2.0.4)

HENRIKTEKNIK Looking really good! Splendid design. Maybe it would be nice if it was added a button for the opposite of AutoHide, that is, AutoShow (so if I click on for instance, Finder, in the dock, the icons appeared). Or alternatively, if there was a custom Exposé behavior added, that let you switch the desktop icons on and off! (Version 1.0)

Camouflage | Dec 11 2006 |
HENRIKTEKNIK I wish there was an option to let it permanently show the Macintosh HD and other volume icons on the desktop. Also, clicking on the desktop makes the screen "blink" for a millisecond or so. It's not a big deal, but it feels odd. Otherwise, it's a good idea and it has great potential! But again, if I can't still see my HD icons + preferably other icons that I have set to "Always Show", it's not useful for me. (Version 1.5)

KARSTEN@BRIKSOFTWARE.COM Camouflage is just displaying a window on top of all the icons on the desktop. it's not hiding them in finder directly. because of this it's not easily possible to show the icons. you can unhide all icons, or you hide them all.... that's your only possibilities with Camouflage and i'm not about to change that...sorry (Version 1.5)
