GROXX  Handbrake rocks for ripping, but it can't make DVDs. A $15 dvd creation program is about as cheap as they come, and this looks like it has a few formats most don't support.

Only thing remaining: what are the options for authoring? Decent menu system, or barely applicable? That's pretty important for me.

GROXX  Sweet... I'd love to get a look at their heuristics :)

I know a few people who would probably love this. A couple have done large competitions, and a few are just overly competitive, and I'd love to see their faces if they ever beat this thing on hardest difficulty.

GROXX  Quite impressive... looks like they did a really good job. Check out the sample videos on their site, this sort of thing could help ANY video photographer.

GROXX  I bought WindowShadeX quite a while ago, and it has the ability to do this to ANY cocoa window. Including the DVD player.

Making things transparent is surprisingly useful, actually. Handy for comparing info, setting up iCal with dozens of events (iCal transparent, info behind, and just draw where you need things).

This, however, is almost totally useless, and unless it does something significantly different than the built-in DVD player, is unbelievably easy to program as well. I don't see how they can charge for this.

GROXX  There is a free version, which I've been using for quite a while, and really like it. Well designed and executed, and it keeps things looking nice.

GROXX  I prefer SizzlinKeys4iTunes. It's more transparent, and my 12-inch screen's menubar is pretty small.

GROXX  I really like the sound of this... but I'd prefer it if it could re-route the connection to another location (ie, force it to use your wireless instead of your ethernet). THEN I'd buy it in a second.

GROXX  My reaction after playing it for a while:

eh.

There's just nothing it does all that well, and nothing it does uniquely.

GROXX  Oooh, thanks for the link! That's more along the lines of what I'll use (especially the MPlayer plugin).

GROXX  So... It's basically "get info" with a link to the help file, which you can access just by running the help program in the first place?

And yeah, a bit more, but it doesn't seem like anything all that useful. Just another application to run if you forget what your files are (in which case, try organizing your HDD! The comment field is useful too).

GROXX  Not a bad app overall, and the ease of changing file formats is VERY useful. I'd prefer a bit more in the way of DVD creation, but this does do it, and quickly and effectively as well.

Only downside I can see: no native WMV3 video support. But that's not surprising.

GROXX  This is a really cool app. I tried it out a while ago, and it's remarkably well executed, useful, and quick and easy to use.

While not everyone has a use for it, give it a try at least. It's a unique app, and deserves some publicity.
