GREGJ  To Wile E.

The newly updated disks I burned DID NOT require the

ORIGINAL DISK !!!! This is why I threw it away...........

I just kept using the updated disks to burn the next generation disk.......

Alsoft is a greedy, user unfriendly company ! They don't give

a rat's A__ about their customers. All they want is your money !!!

Well I am done with them forever, I hope you enjoy them...........

ILGAZ  When you end up the updating, it clearly states "Please RETAIN YOUR ORIGINAL CD" (caps mine) on a Window that you have to click OK.

What else can they do? Shout over speakers?

WILE E.  To GREGJ:

Obviously you have had a lousy experience and I suspect that nothing said here by anyone will change your mind but for someone who wants nothing to do with Alsoft or DW you seem to be spending a lot of time watching their product. If your hope is that an emotional rant will influence people to side with you against Alsoft I believe you will be disappointed.

Alsoft has been using the current updater method for a long time and lots of people have tried to update a previously updated disk unsuccessfully. It has been clear from Alsoft that the original disk must be used to run the updater to produce an updated disk. Perhaps you have been the (un)lucky one that managed to keep updating updated disks without the original disk but somehow I doubt if that is the whole story.

To criticize Alsoft for wanting to make money is pretty naive - they are in business to make money. To say they don't care about their customers is narrow minded in my opinion and certainly not my experience with them.

GREGJ  This company is the absolute worst for any kind of assistance with their archaic upgrading system. I purchased Disk Warrior and have paid for all the upgrades up to this last one.

When trying to make an Updated DVD and upgrade my installed version, I was told that I needed the " Original Disk " Well EXCUSE ME !!! I have burned the upgraded disks along the way so I could boot from them and Run Warrior. I threw away the " Original Disk " a year ago, who has the room to keep " OUTDATED SOFTWARE DISKS ". when I called for some help with this I was told to BUY for $25.00 another boot disk.......

Well suffice it to say I AM DUMPING THIS COMPANY, and will never recommend anything by this rip off institution. After years of PAYING for UPGRADES...... They want MORE !!!!!

WILE E.  To blame Alsoft because you threw away your original disk is quite unfair. They have had this policy in place for quite some time and in your own words you have burned updated disks along the way so you obviously should have known to keep the original disk.

I don't particularly like the method they provide to update disks and until this update it has always worked perfectly. Obviously it is a way for them to try and rein in piracy and who can fault them for that. I suppose you would have been happier to have Alsoft charge you every time they have to provide a bootable disk when a new OS or updated version is released.

GREGJ  Stay Far Away From This Software............. They can't even maintain their Web Site.

I recommend Super Duper for backup software at a reasonable price. I have used it for many many years and the upgrades are FREE !!!!!!!!!!!

Nuff Said !

MINER  Nice comment, I also use SuperDuper, but that is a bit of a sublime one-trick pony which I use for cloning.

And I use Synk Pro for synchronization, for which it is superb.

Tri-BackUp is substantially more versatile than either, which comes at the price of complexity. But for Backup I rely on TBU!

A comment that product A is very good adds very little to assess the merits of product B, imo.

GREGJ  OUTRAGEOUS UPGRADE PRICE .

Greedy software companies won't last too long. There are many user friendly shareware makers out there and they are GOOD and AFFORDABLE.
