GRAHAM PERRIN I agree, the absence of an uninstaller is peculiar. We can at least disable the peculiarly named agent and daemon,

GRAHAM PERRIN Very savvy use of WebArchive and other technologies. It's a long, long time since I saw such potential in an application. I have a few suggestions for improvement, one of which I'll make public: — support for System Services. The other suggestions, I'll make privately. (Version 1.21)

GRAHAM PERRIN If text is selected, or if the i-beam cursor is in a text field: — key delete to delete text — key command-delete to delete the surrounding note. If you click the surrounding note (beyond a text field): — key delete to delete the selected note. In either case, an alert appears: Are you sure you want to delete the selected note. If you have opted to not have the alerts, then we should have a preference to restore the alerts. This should be an improvement suggestion to the developers. http://www.qu-s.eu/support.html may be most appropriate. (Version 1.21)

GRAHAM PERRIN Use Apple Finder. ~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/ /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/ At one of the two paths, Finder will show to you: Launch Safari. (Version 0.7b4)

GRAHAM PERRIN > How about putting the user before profits and incorporating > multiple search engine options. A downgrade of well-developed Safari, for compatibility with an un-developed product, is not a recommended approach. Are you confident that your persistence with a downgraded product combination will allow you to receive all critical security updates? You can use another product that places multiple user-configurable engines in the search menu. I do so. http://webkit.org/ and there's nothing to prevent us from contributing or improving code. The 'greedy exclusivity' description does not fairly reflect the open nature of the software. (Version 0.7b4)

LUKE_ARMSTRONG Thanks Graham, I appreciate your comments, but there really can be no excuse for the Safari developers not implementing a multiple search engine option. If a student in Chicago can do it in his spare time (acidsearch) why can't they? The answer, I believe, is that they can, but they are working in a control freak culture and have a cosy deal with Google. I have tried the webkit engine as you have suggested, while it feels super fast, it, too, is also 'undeveloped' (i.e. in a state of daily development) and might, itself, not be truly secure? Not sure about having to update every few days either... I am going to have to re-load Safari 3.2 now because several websites will no longer interact with 3.1 (PayPal for instance). But, unless I can find a way around the multiple search engine handicap I might have to defect to Firefox. (Version 0.7b4)

GRAHAM PERRIN At the developer's site http://www.pozytron.com/support I have suggested a) an update for compatibility with version 3.2.1 of Safari; and b) an update to the official page http://www.pozytron.com/acidsearch (Version 0.7b4)

GRAHAM PERRIN Main Rating: 2, because support from UK publisher Avanquest Software UK Limited http://www.avanquest.co.uk/ is lacklustre. I filed a detailed bug report on 6th of May and so far their advice has consisted of telling me to do the things that I told them I had already done. Poor service underlies everything else. GRAHAM PERRIN MacFusion issue 9 comment 6 http://code.google.com/p/macfusion/issues/detail?id=9#c6 explains why the menu extra icon can not (will not) be draggable. http://code.google.com/p/macfusion/issues/detail?id=156 arises from the developer's discussion of user preferences for the menu extra, and for a Dock icon. GRAHAM PERRIN ABTON and MACPERSON0852, this was a bug with the OK button, first noted on 11th May, fixed on the 15th and verified on the 16th. This fix will be incorporated in MacFusion 1.1, which should be available soon. In the meantime, the workaround is to (Don't click the OK button) This bug hit a few people — including me — apologies for any inconvenience! MacFusion Project member (Version 1.1b2)

Adobe Reader | Dec 9 2006 |
GRAHAM PERRIN Features: 2 (poor), especially compared with: a) Schubert|it PDF Browser Plugin, which offers me greater flexibility b) Apple Preview, which lets me annotate PDF. Ease of use: I wavered between 2 and 1 (worst). Interaction with other applications is lacklustre. Ulimately I'm slapping it down to 1 because it actively restricts me from adding comments. Adobe, please understand that comments tend to be for my own benefit, rarely for the benefit of others in a workflow. Value: 1 (worst). The application is buggy. The help, when I sought it, was unhelpful, contradictory and buggy. Every minute wasted devalued the product. Stability: 5 (best), but I'm discounting this from my overall score because a developer with the experience and clout of Adobe should never produce an unstable application. My overall score of 1 (worst) reflects my opinion that for their flagship technology, Adobe should have presented a bug-free and exceptionally appealing product. As they fail to do this, so my inclination to purchase their 'fuller-featured' products drops close to zero. For my more detailed review, please see http://fuzzy.wordpress.com/2006/12/09/adobereader8/ (Version 8.0)
