This small gem is saving my iMac, really.

Isnt a secret (try to googling for "smc fan bootcamp" and "overheat"...) the SMC control seems to have some "issues" using bootcamp and Windows partition, in fact the fans stay ever at the default speed, the result is something like 55° (131° farh) HD and 85° (185* farh) for the PSU

So: I STRONGLY suggest to use smcFanControl if you use the BootCamp partition for heavy work and gaming, this can save your hardware (at least.the iMac hardware)

some comparison playing with and without sfc here:

http://www.giofx.net/images/imacfan.png

(temps are in celsius)

great work! THANKS!

thanks to Pietro for his appreciation about my past works (Chimera, OpenMark, Eyephedrine and so on) however the source code is now handled by other people, not by me.

I tracked a "bug" in the horizontal album view:

apparently Apple uses OpenGL in this view and makes some troubles with my plugin which is trying to use OpenGL onto the same surface

please try the visualizer avoiding this view and let me know, thanks for your tests

my compliments!!

hi Mobius

simply by clicking on the Options button in iTunes, when you are in Visualizer mode

if it's unclear take a look at the first picture here:

http://www.giofx.net/osx/faq.htm

(an image worth... damn my english...)

hello Mobius

you have the full right to claim your opinion if you find eyep boring and gForce a lot better I have no problem

about the "Much better and definitely more engaging would be to have each scene transition or morph seamlessly(and in random order) into the next." there are three option in preference pane:

- select your preferred scene

- change scene every track change

- change scene every n seconds

I think this is what you want (however my english is a bit limited and I may understand wrong)

about the reminder ... lol I know it may be boring

some magazines (mostly UK and German) have published a "Lite" version where the visualizer is freeware without reminder (just with half the scenes)

maybe in the next release I can extend the reminder for a little time more

Guys, stay cool

I write this post because I saw a -now deleted (from who??) harsh reply to Mobius

to be frankly I'm a bit tired of soundspectrum comparison, I think no one using a Mac really need to say what is gForce (and his link...) it's a cool and historical visualizer, probably the first for the Mac, so, for the new entry like me, it's like you're trying to do a paint software and someone every day pop up and says "Phothoshop is better"... boring...

Aside that the comparison ends: mine is based on a 3d engine, the others are 2d pixel based.

Thats' not a critic, it's a personal choice which introduces nice features (for example you can put your photos onto the 3D objects or use only 30% of your CPUs) and also drawbacks (not handling a bunch of pixels it's nearly impossible to do smooth transition between scenes with different 3d objects, and with lo-res textures you may experience the blurry effect).

hope you understand the differences and appreciate the nice features offered from both the systems

sincerely

Gio

>This app looks very cool, but it's

>the biggest CPU hog I've ever

>encountered.

That's correct for G3 which usually come with an "old" videocard, without a decent GPU all the fx blending work is performed by the CPU itself.

To avoid any issue from version 1.22 I've limited this software to G4 and G5 CPUs which usually comes with an "advanced" or, at least, vertex program capable video card.

let me know (to support@giofx.net) if you are using "replace cover art with textures" and what video card is in your mac

hi guys

the micro-update 1.21 adds some warning messages for these few users with the "open-and-suddenly-close" problem, hoping this can help me to do some debugging

also, on the iCursor(tm) Official(p) Page(r) (aka: www.giofx.net/osx/icursor.htm) I share the user's effects. If someone wants to contribute just send me the zip file of your customized fx

"I think its cool, but it's got a BIG bug. If I turn on the visualizer, watch it for a few moments, then turn it off..."

bug fixed in version >= 1.05

thanks for the feedback

guys, soul music lovers and other genres fans, clearly Eyep is *for now* heavily oriented to some genre of music (trance, goa ... and so on), it is not good for all genres like, for example, WhiteCap.

But be patient, it's my intention to add a lot of new scenes for free and registered version of course.

In short I do not consider this software closed (at least until I have a scene playing cool with lohengrin ;-)

Ok ok just to avoid any other **offense** I just changed the name in Eyephedrine

I hope this is ok ....

ok right, if you dont have admin access you cant install Eyep

so, dear Anonymous, Anonymous or Anonymous (I'm a bit confused, one claims security issues and another claims to not be the admin) in future I'll put a simple sit "expand&drag" file for you

I've already replyied to first post about this argument, I think my point of view it's clear

not on windows, where I started develop this engine, I'm a fresh switcher ;-)

It was not my intention to hurt anybody with the name of the plugin.

As other softwares in the shareware world sometimes title and description could be ironic, evocative, or derived from pure fantasy.

In my case it was my intention to evocate a brain storming and chaotic feeling from the visualization of the plugin (if someone of you love goa/trance music knows what I mean).

It was my intention to make also another plugin called "furious rape" but due to the critics to eyeepilepsy i will change the name in "shadow in the dark" hoping that no one blind man could be hurted from this title.

I suppose none of you *Anonymous* have read the license agreement: it contains a note about epilepsy 'cause a couple of scene may be very dangerous, that's not a joke.

WhiteCaps and G-Force installers (just to name the most know plugins for OSX) asks the same rights to create the folders "WhiteCap" and so on, and create the folder in the general Library, not user.

I want to create the folder "Eyepilepsy" what's wrong?

And if your are an experienced user you can move the folder manually after installation.

Talking about messing with your OS, in your opinion where are the files for countdown in time-limited trial?

Lovely things...

guys ...

the setup asks admin access simply because the creation of \library\iTunes\Plug-ins folder is NOT possibile by limited users (and if you do not have any plugins installed you dont have this folder)
