GAVIN CUTSHALL Misha is being too polite. I'm sure many Mac fans have computers dating back to System 7, likewise, Windows 3.1 is probably still in the wild. Just because someone, somewhere has old hardware does not mean the march of progress should come to a halt. This is the very essence of why Mac OS is superior. (Version 5.0)

GAVIN CUTSHALL This is definitely the program to buy if you are still mourning the loss of VisualHub. The interface is great, and it can be expanded to allow for advanced user setting. The only feature I would suggest is automatically adding the file to iTunes post-processing. Or, alternatively, post process in MetaX. My apologies if the ability is already there and I'm not seeing it. Also note that the developer is very quick to answer questions or e-mail serials post-purchase. For the $10 US, there's just nothing better on the market. (Version 2.0.9)

TOKYOJERRY Gavin, greetings from Tokyo. I suggest communicate directly with the developer. I've communicated several emails with him already referencing suggestions I would like to see. He has been very communicable and enlightening as he continues to evolve this excellent swiss knife for conversions. A couple of the ideas I proposed already to him and he will place them on the 'todo' list are: 1. drag and drop a folder of video clips onto to IVC dock icon say, and launch the program as well as load the clips. 2. Create a short video tutorial on his website explaining very shortly, the myriad of advanced and advanced+ settings which go way over my head (and perhaps most people's heads). By having just a short explanation, and perhaps demo how to implement will go a long way. As the old saying goes, "A Picture says a 1000 words". :-)) Tokyo, Japan (Version 2.0.9)

GAVIN CUTSHALL "Tweak: support for Aperture removed" Since when is removing a major feature a "tweak." The reason I purchased this product was specifically for its Aperture support. This would be like McDonalds saying Big Mac, tweek, beef removed. Dev: please don't make a cut and imply your product is now better. (Version 1.8r18)

Apple Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update | Dec 18 2008 |
GAVIN CUTSHALL I hope that Apple will eventually find a way to install these minor updates without the need to reboot. I know it's a lame complaint, but when I update Safari on my work Windows XP machine, it can manage to do the job without the need to interrupt everything you are working on. (Version 2.4)

GAVIN CUTSHALL Works exactly as advertised, free, and fills a major hold that Apple left in the system (even in Leopard). This one's on all my Macs. (Version 3.6.1)

GAVIN CUTSHALL This is a software version of a sharp tool. It's refined to do one task very well ... in this case geocoding photos. There is nothing better on the Mac. It also makes my Sony GPS receiver more useful since I no longer have to use Bootcamp to run the utility. (Version 1.4.5)

JOELWNELSON Have you, by any chance, "thinned" out either PowerPC or Intel code you don't need, or removed language localizations with a program like Monolingual? That could potentially cause the Office installer to not recognize the existing installation... (Version 12.0.1)

Microsoft Office 2008 | Mar 13 2008 |
GAVIN CUTSHALL Yes, I did run Monolingual on it. I bet that is the cause. I guess I'll have to reinstall before I try the update. Good call (Version 12.0.1)

Apple iPhone SDK | Mar 6 2008 |
GAVIN CUTSHALL Why not G4? G3? Why not 68040? The reason is that a non x86 SDK would require emulation to run the simulator, which is most likely just virtualizing on the x86 instruction set. In other words, possibly two layers of emulation or virtualization. Like running PearPC inside Virtual PC. Also, because even dual G5s are horribly slow compared to most intel hardware (save the original core solo mini). (Version 2.0b1)

HandBrake | Feb 29 2008 |
GAVIN CUTSHALL HB is a must have, but this most recent version almost invariably crashes when working from the queue. I think I'm going to head back to a more stable release. I'm currently running on a MB 2.0 and an iMac 24. (Version 0.9.2)

HandBrake | Mar 2 2008 |
LADYPEA My older version of Handbrake was working fine on my Mac OS 10.4.11; however, when I tried to use it last night a pop-up window asked me to upgrade to the latest release (Handbrake 9.2). I thought I was fine until Handbrake 9.2 was loaded on my computer and the program is totally inoperable. now. I've been searching the web for the older version and found it on the Handbrake website, but the older version doesn't work when I download it. Other blogs suggest I should use Mac The Ripper, but it appears to be only a mechanism for extraction and not compression. Now I don't know what to do. I wouldn't mind resolving this problem by purchasing the software I need, but I don't know what will work for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have nothing now and I'm totally frustrated. GAVIN CUTSHALL This is an excellent, must have ad-on to iPhoto. I am a registered owner. I hope that the developers update this for iPhoto '08. If it is installed in '08 currently, it will cause the Export function to stop working completely. (Version 2.0.11)

JIRA Client | Jun 16 2007 |
GAVIN CUTSHALL I am a frequent JIRA user, and about the only value I can see in this package is the ability to use JIRA offline. That said, I suspect that most folks who use JIRA on a regular basis would be connected to the net anyway. Based on this, I don't think $65.00 is a reasonable price for this ability. Also, unlike JIRA, the interface for JIRA Client is very cluttered, and reminiscent of a Windows application. Still, I applaud the developer for creating a Mac OS X JIRA client. I hope that in the future, they will consider lowering the price and making a Mac-like interface. (Version 1.1)

GAVIN CUTSHALL This is a simple to use, but over-priced means of transcoding your media to other formats (notably AppleTV). If you are looking for "dummy"-level ease of use, this is the product. However, VisualHub is not only cheaper, but offers far greater control of the end result. This might be a product to recommend to your parents, but anyone else should take the time to use VisualHub. TomTom HOME | Mar 18 2007 |
GAVIN CUTSHALL I love my TomTom One. However, the Mac software is a stark contrast to the hardware. The hardware is intuitive; software is a confusing, crashy mess. It barely works, has a very poor interface, and it is completely unintuitive. (Version 2.0)

GAVIN CUTSHALL I've been waiting for software like this for years. Assuming the "paid" release introduces new features, I will definately pay the shareware fee. I've love to see support for a scanner plug in (like Canoscan or Vuescan). Very, very cool. Thanks for a great product! (Version 1.1b3)
