GARY WHITE This software does not work at all. I have never used this software, downloaded the version here on Macupdate, and dragged the app into the Applications directory. run the Application and it crashes immediately! Very poor show!

Your solution isn't good. You shouldn't place anything outside of the Mkvtoolnix.app program. All those libraries shouldn't be compiled into the Mac version and if they are indeed necessary, they should be placed in it (i.e., Mkvtoolnix.app/Contents/Frameworks/ ), where they belong.

LEOOFBORG GNOMMAK's solution 'works' for MkToolnix. It's really the author's fault for not linking inside the app bundle. The two places that the libs SHOULD go is either inside the app bundle or into /Library/Application Support/MkToolnix/ /opt/ is usually reserved for Fink or Darwinports as far as I know... I've emailed the dev asking him to either put the libs in the bundle or have a separate installer for the libs, and haven't received a reply yet. There are other devs who handle external libs gracefully; MPlayer has a separate pkg for codecs, and FFMpegX has a dialog that tells you you need the libs. So there are other examples of 'the right way to do it.'

By the way it is not my problem I didn't create this program, I only compelled it to work for those who needed it. If you know better solution I listen. Only 77swords try to get work this program and me too, but nobody of you.

LEOOFBORG GNOMMAK, I didn't blame you, 77swords and you did good work to get this hack of MkvToolnix to work. It's a good solution if the user is experienced enough. I only wanted to tell the developer how to properly build the application, and tell other users why it doesn't work without your libs, or ones they have to compile from source-code. The problem is that random files posted to Rapidshare could be a security risk, or be incompatible with other user's machines [PPC/Intel/Universal]. I'm sure you would agree, right?

GARY WHITE It appears that if you do not store your iTunes Music folder on your home folder, even though my Shortcut works to my external drive, this application barfs. Pretty crap really if it can't follow a shortcut like every other application. Very poor

T_TOBY I have my library on an external drive (actually I have two) and they are both supported by VideoDrive. There must be an incompatibility with your setup I guess.

GARY WHITE What a complete bucket of horse dung this program really is!! After installing infront of any firewall, and with the internal firewall for Mac Leopard turned off, it still refuses to work. The Restart button for restaring the daemon does not function, after creating a login name it stated there was none configured on the status window, I could not connect onto my system using this software, and I can't even uninstall it cause I get an error.!!! Steer well clear chaps, it's truly a buggy piece of crap,

GARY WHITE No you can't do the same thing with iTunes or Garageband and get the recognised on your iPhone device! You have the ability to create ringtones with purchased music from iTunes store, but only in America, and nowhere else. So this application would be very useful for other people who are excluded by Apple who don't live in the USA.

GARY WHITE Great application, shame the developers are damn rude! jrbrake the main developer is so rude and arrogant, i have given up posting on his forum. I am not sure why he feels he needs to be rude to the people who actually want to use his application, maybe he has small person syndrome. Good application let down by terrible support, if you want a good app, and friendly responsive developer get Visualhub.

GARY WHITE 10.4.4 still crashes when under load. It consistently crashes when I download files that are high bandwidth or high utilisation. I can crash this program time and time again, yet Intego can never offer me a reason why, and have been promising to fix this for me since 10.4.0 in 2006!! Really poor! Don't buy it!

GARY WHITE Thought I would post back and provide a further update on this program. After reading the more positive reviews on 10.4.2 Content barrier I decided to give my registered version one more test drive. Well guess what it is still a steaming pile of dung. If you transfer large files through your wireless or wired interface, it Kernel panics! Same problem as before. I can even repeat the problem, so all the diagnosis I supplied Intego was completely ignored, and this is still a very bug riddled piece of software... Tut Tut Intego!!!

YAZSOFT SUPPORT In order to avoid any misunderstanding regarding how Speed Download works, this explanation will hopefully clarify things as much as possible. To begin with, Speed Download is not a miracle maker. It will not turn a 56K modem connection into a T1 connection. This, or some variation of this, seems to be what some people expect of Speed Download. If you are expecting such performance, you will be disappointed, as no software in the world will do this for you. Speed Download uses segmented downloading, which is a much more efficient way of downloading than that of the conventional browser. It uses segmented downloading to overcome a lot of bottlenecks found when downloading on the Internet because download speeds are very often far from their theoretical maximums. Well, this can be due to general congestion of the Internet but often it is because servers will try and share bandwidth between clients. Speed Download works around this and does in fact result in a radically improved download performance. SD will maximize use of the bandwidth allocated by your Internet connection. It will NOT create or invent more bandwidth for you. Naturally, the faster your Internet connection, the more bandwidth you have, and the more SD can maximize. Also, keep in mind, that some ISP providing broadband services (DSL, Cable, etc) limit the bandwidth for each of their clients so that they are able to serve more clients with the resources that they have. Just because some people are able to download at extremely high speeds, doesn't mean that everyone can get those exact rates. What SD will guarantee though, is that you always get the fastest and cleanest download speeds possible given from your Internet connection. In addition, Speed Download offers a plethora of advantages to everyone regardless of the Internet connection, and those features are not found in your conventional browser's download manager.

GARY WHITE I have used this program since ContentBarrier 3 and was waiting for many months for the Tiger compatible version. It finally arrived this year, and it was Dual Binary which was important as I had just purchased a new iMac Core Duo. I had major problems under 10.4.0 which caused excessive crashing whenever I tried to do anything but browse normally. I could no longer stream music through iTunes, and any streaming media resulted in a kernel panic! They issued 10.4.1 soon afterwards and after following instructions to clear my recent settings etc from Intego, installed and run the software under the new patch. But the problems persist and I am experiencing at least 3 or 4 Kernel panics a day being caused by this software! Intego have seriously dropped the ball on this one, and even reporting the issues to Intego through their support has been met with deaf ears!!! Avoid it like the plague for the moment. I can't vouch for this software on PowerPC as I no longer own a model using this Processor, but I would wait until they decide to release a more mature product that works. They have rushed this and I don't like software that causes excessive kernel panics! Its poor and I expect that type of crash to remain in the WIndows Heathen software and not on Apple Mac's! | |

KIYOOKA Thanks Gary. Our product is primarily for converting QuickTime content, and there are plenty of test cases where ffmpegX does not deliver good results. Since all the OpenSource tools use the same basic plumbing, they all have the same bugs. Also, there is no question that the Apple AAC encoder is vastly superior to the open source one. After all, it is an iPod, right? But at the same time, for ripping DVDs etc. ffmpegX is clearly a better choice. Or Handbrake.

GARY WHITE This application is a complete pile of rubbish! Don't bother it does not even play most Divx files, and considering it is released by Divx is very surprising! I even used their Mac Divx Converter to make a Divx movie file. When I tried opening it within this application it crashes. And it is not Universal Binary! Stay Away wait for V 2.0 when they can be bothered to get it right!

GARY WHITE Excellent Application. As Mail's own Spam filter was no longer delivering I thought I would try this recommended application. It did not take long to install and integrate into my existing Mail.app, and trained the application completely within a couple of days. 1st class application, would recommend to anyone who is having problems with SPAM in their email account. Apple's Mail Spam filters are ok to a point but did not seem to be picking up some of the smarter SPAM messages I was recieving, and dealing with them. Love to know if this app works well under the new Intel Mac's and if there is any indication of when it will be ported to a Dual Binary?
