GABRIEL OTTE  To the Tiger Users -

Please understand that I have no intention of abandoning development of OSXplanet for Tiger. I will try to have a Tiger version out soon, however, I can't say for sure when that will be. Thank you for your support.

GABRIEL OTTE  Hello All. First off, I apologize for the long delay on version 2.0. My studies at Cornell University have been keeping me quite busy and having to work during the summer to make enough money to go there didn't help either. Version 2.0b01 has not been tested very much at all. I tried to test it on the computer that I have and a few others, but I didn't go through the normal private beta debugging procedures that I usually go through with my beta testers because I felt that I owed it to the users to have a version of OSXplanet that runs on Leopard ASAP. So please let me know of any bugs you find by going to www.osxplanet.com and I'll address them as soon as possible. Thank you for all your support.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  This developer has been working on this app for some years now, it would be very nice if a few (or many) more people would consider donating a bit to the developer.

You can do so at the developer's site:

GABRIEL OTTE  Hello All. Thank you for your support and interest in OSXplanet. I understand that many of you have upgraded to the new operating system, Leopard and that OSXplanet does not run under it. I am working on a new version of OSXplanet but as I am a freshmen at a new university, I have decided for the first semester to focus on my studies a little more. Rest assured that I will have a new version out before the end of the year and I will redouble my efforts to focus on OSXplanet in the months following the release. However, for now please have patience and I will release a new version as soon as possible. Know that OSXplanet is not dead!!

HENRYW  EarthDesk 4.1 currently supports Leopard. True, it is not free, but it looks wonderful and IMHO is worth the price.

GABRIEL OTTE  You can already view just one hemisphere by going into the preferences and setting the Projection to Orthographic.

JAMES SHEPARD  Is there a link to the Seth Price images? I am unable to find them. This program is FANTASTIC and makes a stunning desktop.

As a professional airline pilot it is very interesting for me to see the weather patterns prior to flying!

POCKETSIZESUN  I agree with both that this up is great, and that it is unfair to mention high quality pictures by some Seth Price without actually telling where to find them ;)

GABRIEL OTTE  I don't really understand the problem with iCal Viewer, Grimetongue. I myself use iCal Viewer on occasion and I find that there is nothing wrong with it when used with the latest version of OSXplanet (0.8). Granted it was broken in version 0.7 but I don't think it should be anymore. Please email me with details at gabriel@otte.ucsc,edu

GRIMETONGUE  Sorry Gabriel. Its a case of 'thou shalt not bear false witness". I've now done a clean install (deleting all evidence of previous versions) and iCal Viewer works! For information, the problem was that when iCal Viewer was on 'desktop', OSXPlanet would overwrite on refresh. But now it doesn't, and I'm a sunny bunny. Many thanks for a great app.

GABRIEL OTTE  Hi. Sorry for the inconsistencies in the new version. Since the interface of the new version is so much different then the old, I had to change many of the preferences and seems to have missed a few causing the app to crash on certain computers. I'll try to fix this and the note of donation in the near feature. By no means is it a nag-ware, but I am trying to fix it. Keep posted for v 0.75 soon.

For now please remove the old prefs and OSXplanet should start right up.

GABRIEL OTTE  Tried it and it didn't work very well or fast even on a dual 2.0GHz G5. Handbreak is 200% better. It takes on hour to convert a dvd to avi on a G5.

ANONYMOUS  Still doesn't work properly even though this is supposed to address some aspect ratio issues from the lately released version 2.

Still can't do proper ascpect ratios...

Their support is terrible as well...
