FRINGEWOOD  Very handy in most RAR cases.

Needs a password dialog.

It would be handy when the archive contained multiple files, to create a folder to contain it all, rather than let it flood the current folder. It's a hassle to create a new folder and drag the archive into it every time to be safe.

FRINGEWOOD  This person obviously doesn't understand this wonderful networking security application. NetBarrier is a must for anyone who wants a truly secure Mac.

FRINGEWOOD  Worth ten times as much, one of the best shareware deals available today, and an absolute must for all serious video users on the Mac platform. It's also got a lot of new features that are beginner friendly. No question about it, it's a must have.

Duck

FRINGEWOOD  If nothing else, my patience with teaching vocabulary skills has definitely improved since getting Duck. It's made a huge difference epistomologically in the way I perceive communication.

FRINGEWOOD  Another really good Mac native app gone down the drain..... a real shame about this one. M$ has yet to see a penny from me (at least directly), so there is no chance that I'm buying. I'll just light a candle in eulogy.

TIM27  if you have iView Media Pro 3, you should be able to get a free upgrade to this new version (from what iView's website says).

XO Wave

FRINGEWOOD  I don't care how good an app is, I will never buy one that charges for a beta version, especially one this expensive.

FRINGEWOOD  The bugs are due to constant memory leakage. Take a look at Console. It's easy enough to fix, but for some reason, they don't seem to want to fix it. They seem content to let the browser leak in RAM like a sieve. Hence, you get all sorts of GUI problems, like typing block, lost GUI pieces, etc.

StuffIt Deluxe 2010
Jan 4 2007

FRINGEWOOD  Bloatware at its very worst.

The automatic assumption that this monster should takeover Mac's default system duties without a care to personal settings is pure arrogance.

The insistence on adding "Folder" to an expansion without a user option to negate it has been a major issue with me since 2.0. It used to be fairly easy to hack in OS 9, but no longer.

They want to dictate far too much how things are done with very few user options. It's getting more like Windows with every version.

I could go on and on and on, but it's not worth wasting my breath.

This is one of the worst product cases of not being able to leave a good thing alone and charging upgrade prices for the insult.

Expander is all you need, the rest is a shining example of everything that is wrong with 3rd party software progress today.

Poser
Jan 4 2007

FRINGEWOOD  I've been using Poser since 1.0. It's not easy to learn, taking years of dedicated study to master. But the software is very powerful, despite being held back by PC compatibility.

There are hundreds of gigs of content available online, and the commercial grade content is considerably less expensive than top-tier, and in many cases better. The community is a very sharing one, and there is lots of free stuff to be had.

Most of the negative responses I see here are no doubt by people who expected to learn the process overnight. I see people complaining about using it in manners that aren't the correct way to use it.

Plus it's directly compatible with Vue if a more powerful rendering engine is needed (lighting, 3D geometry, etc). With 7.0 out, it is UB and takes advantage of multi-core processing.

It's great piece of software if you want to take the time to learn it and set it up correctly. If you want a quick study in 3D that takes care of itself, look elsewhere. Poser is just too complex for those seeking instant gratification.
