FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  I like Safari, and I don't think its a bad browser or that Apple is doing anything wrong. It just comes down to logistics.

Safari is a full featured, Bookmarks require things to be loaded. A pop up blocker is filtering all the things that may or may not be considered "pop ups", Safari filters cookies according to a user preference, it checks security certificates to make sure a page is properly encrypted, It looks for RSS feeds for you to subscribe to and when you do, its constantly updating the live bookmarks. These are the things that make Safari bulky and slightly slower. I love Safari (And Firefox), and I get my developing inspiration from both. But, i like simplicicty and there is a place for it in many peoples lives, Enter Radon

Radon is fast and lightweight. It does not take up a lot of resources on your CPU. Open Safari, Firefox and Radon and then open activity monitor. You will see the purpose of our application

FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  We are doing nothing sneaky. The fact that you think that is a little odd. The reason we removed the GPL was purely a tactic to save time. To be open source, you must keep the source updated and easily available, and we tried it and where unable to accomplish it. If we are to be covered under the GPL,. we must do it right. We cant, so we removed that status. Nothing Sneaky.

PETER DA SILVA  You don't need to do anything but package up the source tree when you make a release. That's it.

FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  In Safari for example, the downloader is sitting in the background connected to the URL bar at all times, waiting to see a file format it can comprehend, then it downloads that file. Therefore, when you hit return in the url bar, that signal is being sent elsewhere as well, slowing it down.

FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  Tominated is still GPL. The source is readily available at its website. But, Radon is no longer open source as it has branched away from Tominated Code

Sure I would be glad to.

1. There are no other parts of the application directly tied to the browser. This allows it to run without any filters, downloaders, bookmarkers etc. without holding up the loading of webpages to specifically look for content is designated to. Second of all, the code we have is neatly written and logically organized. This allows for overall better performance of the application. And we also share cache and cookies through WebKit which makes the loading of pages faster without making cookies and cache through the application itself.

Krypton Downloader
Feb 4 2008

FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  Let me make it clear that our browser code is NOT based off Apple, the downloader is. But, i agree with you on many comments. We are working on adding features to Radon. As for Radon being a beta, it is. But, we need two different version numbers because of the fact we had two OS specific versions. But, we would like to think Radon is generally stable enough for regular use. Please stay tuned because Radon 1.5 will have many new features. Progressively, Radon will become a WebKit esq Firefox. We are taking it incrementally because we want the features to be Fast, and well integrated. Something not accomplishable if we try to crunch all the features immediately. Thank you for your feedback, and thanks for using Radon

Krypton Downloader
Feb 3 2008

FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  You are correct that it is the sample downloader from Apple. There are many reasons for this.

1. Apple knows how to write code. This application is very stable and does its job

2. This was meant as a companion application to Radon, and we did not have time to write a good downloader from the ground up.

3. We just changed the UI to match Radon, and the name to accomplish a theme. We ar e in no wait trying to market this as our code, and we want know one to think that we are. Use Krypton, take advantages of it. Thank Apple.

Any other questions?

We Do not appreciate an reviews that insult us the developer. If you dont liek the application, that is fine, but please do no insult us. We did not make a web browser because it was easy, making this application has not been easy. We made it with a specific base in mind; Easy and Fast Web Browsing.

Thank You For Being Polite

PETER DA SILVA  Could you elaborate on exactly what you did to make web browsing faster in this program than in the webkit demo app, or Safari, or any of the other versions of the webkit demo app that have come up here?

PETER DA SILVA  I must admit to some confusion as to the exact meaning of your explanation. What do you mean by it running with no other parts of the application "directly tied" to the browser? Do you mean it does not include components such as the ones you listed, or that such components are handled by some kind of indirect mechanism (such as a background helper applications), or something else that I have failed to think of?

PETER DA SILVA  It doesn't seem to me that this could possibly be a significant cost, and that this would only apply if you had installed a downloader, no?

How does this differ from other webkit browsers in general (not just Safari)?

PETER DA SILVA  Hey, Brock, how's old Doc Venture doing?

I'm not hassling anyone. I'm just trying to understand what his program does... also, if there's heavy overhead in Safari caused by download managers, well, I want to know about that too.

PETER DA SILVA  Why, indeed, I understand that Safari does all these things, but I am surprised that any of them would cause significant overhead. In addition, there are many webkit-based browsers that do not. What are you doing differently from the others?

FORGOTTEN SOFTWARE  Radon has many lines of Code. We choose a Web Browser because it is a commonly used Item and an Item that we have personal expertise in. I would appreciate we keep all comments about the Application and not about what you guys think about The abundance of browser. Also, do not insult the developers intelligence, it is not appreciated

Thanks for your constructive feedback and non bias reviews
