SRS iWOW Premium
Mar 26 2009

FLASHGEN  Looks like a lot of us are disappointed with version 3.0. I wouldn't mind so much, but I can't even find a download site for 2.0 :( trashed the DMG by accident when migrating and the "link" on SRS's site to download version 2 (it's in the FAQ at the bottom) isn't even a link.

Couple that with the fact that the link on this page to upgrade to version 3 from 2 has expired. Macupdate bundle owners of iWow can't use SRS's upgrade system as they are not registered on their site :/. FYI You do get a bit of text to say to contact them about upgrading if you got it as part of the Macupdate bundle, but so far - after 7 days - I've still yet to get a response.

Suffice it to say I won't be using this any longer

ScreenFlow
Mar 31 2008

FLASHGEN  I actually own this app and it is good but I have to agee, while Screenflow is a good app, it is missing quite a few key features:

* You cannot rename assets (so you could end up with a few "built in mic" audio clips (if you use Screenflow to capture audio)

* There is no ability to pause a frame and have it span a period of time. You need to actually record a static loop and then keep adding it from the library to get the desired lenght if it is longer than the lip itself

* None of the assets provide information on what their duration is - you need to place them on to the main timeline and try and work it out from there.

* There are no hotkeys for Delete (which seems a bit odd...

* You don't appear to be able to define a region of your screen / just an application like you can in Snapz Pro

* It is rather expensive for what it currently offers.

On the upside, it does create very smooth good quality casts and the audio is clear - even from the built in microphone of my MBP.

I'm hoping that the developers will take these comments on board and potentially add these features sooner rather than later (i.e version 2.0).

SPACEROGER  @FlashGen : In response to : "You don't appear to be able to define a region of your screen / just an application like you can in Snapz Pro"

In one of the demos on the developper site, you see that you can in fact crop a section of the screen after you recorded. I suppose they feel it give you more flexibility that way (i'll have to try to see if it's true, but it seem to be a nice way to build a good screencast)

FLASHGEN  Well I've been using this for weeks and there is nothing wrong with it - albeit a bit slow at times. Plus I can't see it being that buggy considering the announcement of Time Capsule.

Regardless, this does work, and a lot of people were already doing this manually prior to iTimeMachine's release. My experience has been fine with no issues beyond network traffic speeds (which would affect any network app).

I do agree that TimeMachine in general is buggy, and a resource hog - perhaps 10.5.3 will fix those issues

FLASHGEN  Nice app. Works well and does what it sets out to do. Would be good if it was a menu bar item or a prefPane control just so it can be set as a process to activate automatically.

Other than that works very well. Something Apple should have included for TimeMachine in the first place.

SCOTTISHWILDCAT  All this app does is turn on a preference that Apple have hidden and turned off by default.

The reason it's off by default is that it has serious bugs-- I have colleagues who have (completely) trashed their backup disks using it, when turned on.

FLASHGEN  This is an awesome app. I already have it and suggest anyone who uses more than one browser to install it and try it out managing their passwords.

It integrates seamlessly with your browser making auto filling and storage of your passwords quick and simple.

It also has it's own standalone application that allows you to organise your passwords and edit the details so they are easily ordered and categorised.

All in all a very handy app.

Remote Buddy

FLASHGEN  Just what I as looking for - something to support multiple remotes (and wireless comms protocols). I do a lot of technical presentations and this looks perfect for controlling Keynote and then switching between that and other apps without having to continually return to my machine.

Very cool

Mahjong Solitarus

FLASHGEN  I absolutely love Mahjong. My onlym problem is that I tend to just lose hours playing it when I should really be doing something else :p

I'm so glad there are games of this quality on the Mac though and at this price it is a steal.
