FARDILHA Indeed I can't talk about RipGuard since I never tried a DVD using it, but to the best of my knowledge, Fairmount can handle ARccOS. Or put it on another way, VLC (that Fairmount uses) can handle ARccOS. (Version 1.0.6)

FARDILHA I could talk about some of the missing features of Invoy, but for a 1.0 release I prefer to talk about the ones already there: A really good interface and a pretty decent set of initial features. Based on what I saw, I believe that Invoy has a solid base to properly grow on the near future. Keep up the good work (Version 1.0)

Harmonic | Jun 20 2008 |
Harmonic stopped working for me. I'm not sure if it was after updating Leopard to 10.5.3 of Harmonic to 2.3, but somewhere in the hay something strange happened. Now, after changing a song on iTunes i can see the lyric being displayed on Harmonic for a split of a second but it changes to "Can't Find Lyrics". Checking Terminal I can confirm that harmonic did find the lyric, so I don't know why it's not showing it. (Version 2.3)

mini$ | Jun 20 2008 |
Yes, I know that mini$ is not US centric. That's one of the main reasons that I use it right now. I apologize if I wasn't able to properly make myself clear. Pretty much my point is that since you said that 2.6 would be your final release it would be great if someone, like Werner, would like to pick the project and continue it. Even if mini$ could be improved (and what app couldn't?) I already like it _a lot_ as it is. So knowing that someone would maintain it alive and working on both Mac OS as well on Linux would be great for me. Of course... If that person was you, it would be even better. ;) I just don't want to see mini$ ending up on the near future. Pedro Fardilha (Version 2.6)

As a long time (euro) user of mini$ on both Mac OS X and Ubuntu Linux I totaly agree with you. it's really hard to find a non US currency app and thanks to the fact it's a java app I can jump between my home Ubuntu box and my work MacBook without any effort (as long as I don't use the latest mini$ version). If you could keep this project up that would really be a great contribute for the mac community. I just want to let you know that we'll be right behind you. ;) (Version 2.6)

iTunesMenu | May 30 2008 |
FARDILHA Thank you so much for making this great app. It's the (almost) perfect replacement for my old favorite, iMote that no longer works properly under Leopard. The only think I would like to see added? An option to rename the name that shows on the menu, when iTunes isn't playing. "iTunesMenu" is just too big for my screen. As an example, my "Status Menu Order:" is simply "♫". Now, If I could do that for those occasions when iTunes isn't being used, that would be perfect. (Version 0.1)

iDefrag | Apr 23 2008 |
FARDILHA I don't like to buy Apps that I can't truly test before, so I almost gave up of the idea of buying this one. Since most programs that I use tend to create huge temp files (from Photoshop to Final Cut Pro) and my other main Util app (DiskWarrior) couldn't defrag on a file level I decided to give this a try. I'm glad I did, because it's working very well. I already defrag a dozen hard drive without any problem and Final Cut Pro is complaining about real time problems less often. Besides that this nice app finally allowed my almost full and heavily fragmented laptop to allow Boot Camp to be installed. (Before the Boot Camp utility would fail trying to move all the files from the end of the drive to make room for the new partition). (Version 1.6.5)

Flow | Apr 19 2008 |
FARDILHA I like the way Flow is going, but I can't vouch for it right now. I decided to make some tests comparing Flow with my standard FTP app (Cyberduck). My first impression was really good, Flow was being faster than Cyberduck copying a dozen (small) files from a remote server to my Mac and browsing thru folders was more responsive under Flow. So I decided to make a better test and make Flow copy a normal web site (around 50 MG distributed between a lot of small files and some bigger movie ones). That's when things start to go wrong. I tried 3 times and Flow could never properly complete the backup, while Cyberduck albeit slow was able to do so. Finally i did a different test. I went to a sub-folder and changed permissions (to 644). After this I tried to delete that folder. To my surprise Flow deleted not only that folder but the ALL ftp content, even if it was on a higher level then the selected folder. (To be certain this wasn't a mistake i repeat the operation 3 times and on all of them I lost the poor web site in full... thank God it was only a test site) So, basically I think Flow is a little to dangerous for my liking and I just can't "trust" my files to him. RoadMovie | Apr 11 2008 |
FARDILHA RoadMovie is SubMerge big brother. I don't care that much about the ftp/remote send of the processed movies, but the batch ability is really useful. That alone made me buy RoadMovie instead of SubMerge. So far I'm quite happy with it. It does what its supposed to do without any kind of complications. For me it's the best tool for this kind of job on a Mac. Thank you Bitfield for making this great tool. If I could make a suggestion: The addition of meta tags editing is good, but a direct connection to MetaX would be even better. Pedro Fardilha (Version 1.1)

Tiler was exactly what I need to test it on my home printer. Just had to save my file as PDF (something standard on a Mac) and open it on Tiler. It was really simple to use but it did what I need it to do quite well. Thank you for making this great software! (Version 2.2)

DVDRemaster | Mar 26 2008 |
I'm a long time DVDRemaster user and wanted to let my impressions about the software and the support that Metakine gives. As as European whose main language is not English I really need a good app to convert movies to use on my iPod that allows me to add subtitles. I know there are other options there, either for DVD 9 -> DVD 4 as also to iPod (from freeware like Handbrake to shareware like Popcorn or DVD2One). But I believe that for an app to be complete and good in what it does it doesn't have to need a cumbersome GUI. And so far the only one that does almost all that I need and has a nice and usable GUI is DVDRemaster. (Handbrake GUI is a lote more confusing and Popcorn with all Roxio's pow€r is incapable of properly add a subtitle option). If from times to times I found a problem with it? sure, what app doesn't have them? The diference is that Metakine's costumer support is really good and they always listem to what I (a costumer) have to say, even if it's just a small detail. Overall I could not be happier with it, that why I bought version 3.x and gladly paid for the 4.x update once it came out . (I'm not in any way related with Metakine or DVDRemaster, except as a costumer. But If I'm the 1st one to complain with apps or companies that fail to deliver why they promise, I think that I should also praise the ones that do a god job) (Version 4.3.1)

MetaX | Mar 20 2008 |
FARDILHA I'm aware that there are a lot of meta taggers based on Atomic Parsley, and I think that I tried most of them. This one is my favorite by far. The easy to use, the integration with Amazon and Handbrake's option to send the files straight to here make it a pleasure to use. To bad that they cannot use IMDB directly to populate the tags, but that's not their fault, it's related with IMDB's terms of use. Thank you for making this great tool. I'm trying to use SImplyBurns under 10.5.2 to burn a multi-session DVD in HFS+ format. According to the docs, HFS+ is right now the only way to do multi-session under SimplyBurns. (it creates a new volume for each new session) Somehow, even with the "leave the disc appendable" option selected, SImplyBurns refuses to allow me to add a new session to it. Does anyone have this sort of problems? Pedro Fardilha (Version rev298)

AppCleaner | Mar 18 2008 |
FARDILHA I've been using AppCleaner for the last few weeks and I'm really impressed with it. I like the interface a lot but the new feature "SmartDelete" is really great. I'm always trying new programs and I don't know a better way to make my Mac free of all those small files that tend to stay behind when we delete an application. As best I would add an option for AppCleaner quits itself after being called (and used) thru SmartDelete, but even that isn't a big deal. Thank you so much to Mr Julien Ramseier for this great (and free) utility. (Version 1.2b1)
