FABRO This app used to be very useful, a rela timesaver up to Mac OS X 10.4 but with Leopard the first problems appeared and with Snow Leopard I find it almost unusable for what I do (dragging files/folders from the Finder to the File Buddy icon). I'm posting my problems here because I wrote to the develeopers two weeks ago but I got no answer: I have to report several issues I am experiencing with File Buddy, most of them regarding Snow Leopard (I actually have Mac OS X 10.6.1) and some even Leopard. I have a MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz with 4 Gb RAM. - Under Snow Leopard, dragging one or more file/folder to the File Buddy icon has no effect. My default option is to open the dropped items in a new list window, and I also have the drop keys set so that Cmd-dragging a file/folder I should get the File Buddy Info window. Nothing happens either when I drop or Cmd-drop a Finder item in File Buddy icon, I have to manually open a new List window in File Buddy and drop the files/folders there. - Droplets no longer work, this happened with Leopard and of course they neither work with Snow Leopard. - File Buddy preferences are no longer saved: for example, if i change the default drop action from "View in list" to "Get Info" when I launch again FileBuddy I still have the old option set. - The File Buddy contextual menu is gone under Snow Leopard. Under Leopard I still had it in a "Other" submenu of the Finder contextual menu. Moreover, I have a very annoying problem with my serial number: one year ago I changed my PowerBook G4 for a MacBook Pro, and now every 1-2 weeks File buddy complains that it is in demo mode and I have to enter my serial number again. The first time I also had to put the date of my MacBook Pro back to a few days after the purchase of my license and reboot to enter my legally owned serial because File Buddy told me it had expired ... yet more annoying! TftpServer | Sep 10 2009 |
FABRO On the page you linked you may also a link to this: This is from the tftp man page: Set the tftp blksize option to blk-size octets (8-bit bytes). Since the number of blocks in a tftp get or put is 65535, the default block size of 512 bytes only allows a maximum of just under 32 megabytes to be transferred. The value given for blk-size must be between 8 and 65464, inclusive. Note that many servers will not respect this option. I would assume that most routers, etc. would likely use the default block size. If this is configurable on your router, you might try increasing the size to accommodate. I have investigated and I can assure you that Cisco devices keep their blocksize fixed to 512 bytes, so the reason why other tftp servers running under Windows or Linux are instead able to transfer files larger than 32 Mb is that they are not RFC-compliant (and this is not necessarily a bad thing, at least in this case) so I guess they reset their block counter when its limit of 65536 is reached. FABRO That's not a TftpServer flaw, neither a flaw of the tftp server shipping with Mac OS X. As also explained in the TftpServer online help and web site, Cisco devices are not able to use tftp extended mode and this is why they are able to upload/download files larger than 32 Mb only with Cisco TFTP Server for Windows. TIM.DEHRING Don't forget to complain to Apple when 10.6 is Intel only also. I mean, it's only been 3 years now since Apple produced a PPC machine. (Version 3.0.0.310)

MobileSyncBrowser | Nov 22 2008 |
FABRO I am a registered user but the last 3 updates of this app keep crashing when I launch it. The last one continues to crash even if I delete the file "MobileSyncBroswer Data" from my Documents folder and also all the app's preferences. Moving it to the trash. (Version 0.9.1)

VAUGHNSC Hi Fab! I think Ive uncovered the cause of a bug that will cause the symtoms you describe and yes, it does affect more recent versions. I'd like to mention for everyones benefit that when these issues arise, its exceedingly hard to get people to send over their backups (being personal data, not to mention HUGE). You might then understand why some of this behaviour is really hard to track down if it doesnt happen on my machines, my data :) I expect to release another update on or before the end of this week (Thanksgiving 2008) which should go a long ways to ending the 'mysterious mid-scan quit'.

FABRO Useful utility if you own an iPhone and want to have on your Mac a log onf your calls and SMS, but I can't understand why separate app bundles for PowerPC and Intel, even the app's name changes with the architecture. Such a small app shouldn't have cpu-specific instructions, so why the developer doesn't build it as an universal binary app? (Version 0.8.18)

FABRO I have always replied to my users, even to those complaining about the iSynCal 5 upgrade fee. Anyway, I have explained the reasons leading me to this unpopular decision here: http://ww2.unime.it/flr/isyncal/upgradefee.html iSynCal developer (Version 5.6.1)

FABRO It seems that at Allume nobody knows the concept of "minor version number" ... they release a pair of X.Y.z releases just to fix the most relevant bugs of the latest major release, then after a few months they add one or two features (often not useful for most users) et voilą ... a new "major" release is out ... with overpriced upgrade licenses, of course. FABRO Why the app is no longer available for download, neither from the developer's web site? I needed it for a reinstall of my Mac (I paid for it) but I can't find it. (Version 1.1.6)

FABRO Have your tried Adium or Fire? Both are free and multiprotocol (support for ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, Jabber, GTalk, and others) but I find that Adium has a better look&feel and system integration; with them I can join or create a group chat, also called chat rooms by Adium ... maybe it's just what you are looking for. FABRO Nice app, does what advertised and has more features than other similar apps (like Cocktail and Xupport) but it sucks 70% of my dual 2.3GHz G5 CPU while simply sitting in the dock and doing nothing ... when the developer will fix this bug it will be worth its price for me. (Version 2.1)

FABRO Excellent, I have treid all the othet CHM viewers for OS X and this one is the only true Cocoa free app that allows me to search into a CHM file (also xChm does it, but it is a multiplatform app ported to OS X). (Version 1.1a)

Formac TVR Driver | May 5 2006 |
FABRO Quoted from another user's review: "... then download and install the latest version of Vidi, I have found Vidi works infinitely better the offical Formac software." I think this should sufficiently emphasize the quality of their support ... never seen a company that wants to be paid for a simple firmware upgrade, also requiring its customers to send the product back to the factory for this ... and never seen so much negative feedbacks from angry customers. It's a pity because, after all, the quality of their products is good ... but what do you do if you are a video professional and you can't get support for something you work with? (Version 3.5)
