F451 I purchased a license when it was still version 3, and even the developer admitted it was not where it was intended to be, but I knew it had great promise. Version 4, and the advent of Snow Leopard has allowed Conjure to catapult its development and I could not be more pleased. It is easy to see even Apple adopting what Conjure is now doing as the desktop (yes, I know Conjure is not the desktop, but emulates it) has never demonstrated as much potential as it does with Conjure. Please keep up the good work!I (Version 4.1.1)

Microsoft Office 2008 | Jul 21 2009 |
F451 This service pack does exhibit a marked improvement, but it comes late in the game (as always with Microsoft in it regard to Mac). I harbor no ill will toward Microsoft as Apple did have the upper hand in the eighties, but sat on its duff while Microsoft moved ahead. (Anyone here ever use MacWrite?) I am forced to use Office, but the compatibility of documents to and fro between the Mac to the PC platforms inevitably shifts something about to the point where proofing the documents wastes a substantial amount of time, but is necessary when others are demanding precision for legal or presentation purposes. In a way I pity Microsoft, as I now do Hewlett-Packard, as these once great companies are a shell of what they used to be; both juggernauts are not doing well presently (although they would like you to believe differently) and have a questionable future. TOXICTHREE I agree.... I have a valid copy of the Office suite, but lost the discs and documentation when I had to move suddenly a year ago. I load this update and it suddenly says I have an invalid key!! Got no help (no surprise) from MS and none of the fixes I have read about worked. I now have a 800MB piece of crap on my machine and no way to rejuvenate it. I'm keeping it in case I can find a fix in the future, but I'm more than just disenchanted at this point. BACKPACKER The Office removal instructions didn't work for me, either, nor did the Remove Office uninstaller in the folder 'Additional Tools'. So it was the usually trusty CleanApp I turned to; it took many attempts, dragging various Office apps onto CleanApp, to trash about 1.5GB of Office stuff. A lot of it was hidden in /private/var/folders/2N and /Library/Automater. Also many files ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.xxxxxxxxxxx.xxxx Finally the Microsoft folders in /Library/Application Support and ~/Library/Application Support and ~/Library/Preferences nad to be trashed, and whatever was left in /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008 If nothing else, this showed that CleanApp needs improvement before it can digest Office in one chomp. F451 This plugin is both misunderstood and maligned mostly by those who have not read the statement on Infinite Labs website that clearly states you must either run SIMBL of PlugSuit, but NOT bothÑyou must choose which one to use and delete the other. Another issue is that plug-ins that run on SIMBL typically reloads SIMBL so you have to be cognizant of this occurring and check to determine whether SIMBL has been reinstalled as this will lead to problems. I use File Buddy to check whether SIMBL has been reinstalled. BTW, 1Password ceased using SIMBL eons ago so if you are running a newer version of 1Password there is no need for SIMBL as Agile Web Solutions decided to be independent of SIMBL. Used correctly PlugSuit is very informative, and works very well with more control over the plug-ins that PlugSuit can monitor. PlugSuit was there during the Leopard transition when SIMBL was not...sadly many are not thankful of this fact and have quickly forgotten the Leopard transition history. For my purposes PlugSuit is vastly better than SIMBL, although I have deep appreciation for both SIMBL and PlugSuit. (Version 1.5.5)

F451 Panic and the IconFactory have supported the Mac community for many, many years now, providing creative access to icons, wallpapers, and other free goodies too numerous to describe. They bundle their software together and the uninitiated lambast them without any historical knowledge of Panic. Even to the point where they suggest freebies that essentially ripped-off the initial version of CandyBar. Don't that beat all. The Mac community is changing rapidly, and I don't like what I see in the way of freeloaders. (Version 3.1.2)

WARCHILD13 I'm sorry you feel the need to support what to me is tantamount to theft. Your logic is absurd and this overtly emotional "not liking where the Mac Community is heading" is immature. You codify that with your inane name calling. Freeloaders who pay for a package and then are offered no sensible or remotely fair path to upgrading are not freeloaders, they are victims. I paid for a few other Panic programs and plan to find suitable replacements for them. Combining twp programs and stripping features from both of them to effect the merger is not an upgrade in my mind. Disabling the old paid for Candybar so that it is totally worthless is evil and undoes all the good will Panic had engendered in me in one fell swoop. (Version 3.1.2)

Thanks for your comments. A couple questions. First, what features did we strip out of Pixadex and CandyBar 3? As best we can tell CB3 offers significantly more features than both programs had separately before, including complete 512x512 icon support, Quick Look, Icon Look, a whole new integrated interface, and much more. The only known removal I'm aware of is the "App Extras' section of CB2, which was cut due to incompatibility concerns with Leopard. Please let me know if there's something we're missing? Furthermore, we did not disable CandyBar 2 — many people are still downloading/purchasing it today and using it under Mac OS X 10.4, and that's fine with us! Significant changes and new features in Leopard caused us to make CandyBar 3 Leopard-only, but CandyBar 2 continues to work fine under 10.4. I'm truly sorry you don't think our upgrade path is sensible -- despite only being $13, we did provide nearly three years of free CandyBar 2 updates including, lest you forget, a totally free update to support Mac OS X 10.4. We think you'll get well more than your money's worth out of CandyBar 3, but I totally understand if you disagree. Thanks again for your feedback! (Version 3.1.2)

WARCHILD13 Look F dude. Grow up or at least try and learn to be an adult. Your childish suppositions and vague accusations are tedious, boring and plain old stupid. As to CandyBar it is disabled in Leopard with no fix other than a 25 buck upgrade. This was clearly a greed or at least profit driven tactic with no concerns for the users who supported your product. It is a disgrace and would not be tolerated in any but the software field. The stripped feature was the only one I used and that was to replace icons within apps. I do it by hand now, CandyBar was worth it to me only for the convenience. The only Panic app I still use is Unison, which I did pay for. I expect you'll kludge that soon enough. It has been unreliable in the past. The serial number protection being incredibly harsh - its the only app that still flashes purchase in the menu bar while it waits to load up. There are good Mac software developers out there who don't abandon their customer base with every OS upgrade. I support them and will continue to do so. (Version 3.1.2)

CandyBar | Jan 10 2008 |
I think you might have overlooked a couple of things I mentioned. You say: "[Other companies] don't abandon their customer base with every OS upgrade." Good news! We don't either. As I said, we released a major upgrade to CandyBar 2 to support Mac OS X 10.4 -- and it was TOTALLY FREE OF CHARGE for all users, during the nearly three years that we released free updates. Similarly, Transmit, Unison, Coda, etc., all were updated to support Leopard, completely free of charge. And some of the changes weren't minor! CandyBar was our only, notable exception, due to the huge scope of changes we made. As for changing your application icons by hand, you are more than welcome to do so! As a warning: if Apple enables the built-in code signing in a future Mac OS X minor update, your applications will simply no longer launch. This is what we're trying to safely avoid by disabling that feature until we get a sense from Apple of their plans. (As for Unison showing the Purchase menu very briefly while it loads -- I suspect this simply a bug, and I'm surprised to hear that it's considered harsh or gets in your way. We'll look into it!) Thanks again for your comments and feedback! (Version 3.1.2)

If you are fence sitting on acquiring a license I would think twice as Leap will be going up in price when it is out of beta. Currently, it is a rare Mac bargain. Plus, whenever I need to close the app I get a nagging prompt that I haven't paid--which is not true. Some folks have suggested the developer, Alexandre Carlhian, may have died. F451 I believe that you are misunderstanding the registration of TapDex. You can use it for free, but if you want what Yellow Mug is calling Pro features (the use of Vonage, and removal of Yellow Mug's small text line of their own product advertising) then you can buy a Pro license. You have to install TapDex to see what I am trying to explain. If you are not using Apple's Address Book, then TapDex is of no use to you. Here is the description directly from Yellow Mug's website: We're making TapDex available for free as a way of giving back to the Mac community and getting our name out at the same time." If you install it you will see what I mean about the Vonage its preferences. It only installs two files: 2) com.yellowmug.TapDex.plist You can very quickly see what it has to offer, and delete it just as fast if you like. Where it works exceedingly well, for me, is when my wife uses my Mac (as she uses PC for work on her laptop, but is under strict confidentially agreements, so her PC has no personal data on it, and cannot be used for personal use). She constantly asks me for telephone numbers and addresses, and this is the simplest means of her accessing the data. Everything else you wrote I too share the same opinions. Apple has something brewing with Safari 3, and the iPhone, and it appears that they are trying to have syncing abilities (they we could only dream of in the past) come to fruition, but only through Apple related software. I do not necessarily agree with what Apple appears to be doing. (Version 3.2.1)

Fifth, why did you even bother to comment about it if you were simply going to demean it for the sake of argument? Sixth, Spotlight is a dog. There is no "time bomb" as version 3.2.3 was made for Intel and version 3.2.2 made PPC. So it you moved to the Intel version that is where the issue occurs if you are running a PPC. Since Leopard has what I am looking for in the way of Workstrip's replacement I am simply waiting out Leopard's release as my version of Workstrip works with no problem. (Version 3.2.3)

F451 A developer provides a free piece of software and gets jacked by someone who can't appreciate the developer's point-of-view. What's with that? The icon is just fine. (Version 2.1.8)

Saft | Aug 9 2007 |
F451 I'm just thankful that PithHelmet came back online to address Safari 3. I did use IWEDLER little hack to make Saft work, but Saft has other issues with some of its features. I prefer PithHelmet over Saft's ad blocker, but I like the other miscellaneous Saft features beyond ad blocking. (Version 9.0b4)

In the folder that is included is a text filed named "Installation Notes." In the note is an email address that you write with your problem(s). I've been successfully using this new version with Safari 3. (Version 2.7)

F451 You can still download the prior version of PithHelmet 2.6.7 that works well with Safari 2.x. Also, PithHelmet is really Honorware. You check the box that says "I Paid" based on you honesty. Doc. have you tried removing SIMBL from your system and running this version on Safari 3.x? It works for me. If you have licensed Red Snapper, and FLVR, simply reload them afterwards. PithHelmet | Aug 7 2007 |
F451 I do not know that it will not work with Safari 2.x as the installer "Customize" option allows SIMBL to be installed. I am glad that the developer took the time to release this version. It's a start, and the developer is clear about it shortcomings at this point, but there is nothing like PithHelmet, nothing. Mac users' are moving on from Safari 2.x. I'm using 3.x beta, and not returning to 2.x. (Version 2.7)

Saft | Aug 1 2007 |
F451 I am entirely with Gryphonent on this one, Saft is always several days and dollars short on updates, while others like Red Snapper, FLVR, and 1Passwd are readily compatible. I am a licensed user, but it is frustrating to say the least. (Version 9.0b4)

F451 This theme is now up to version 2. You need to watch the developer's link to learn all about the latest. This has become my favorite theme. Very well done! (Version 1.5)

Ubercaster | Jun 25 2007 |
F451 A genuinely logical method of producing a podcast for the beginner to the professional. Deceptively simple, but intuitive GUI that cloaks powerful fine-tuning abilities to please even the perfectionist. Clever media integration of Skype, iChat, and iLife, and subtle details such as Stealth Mode place Übercaster at the head of the podcasting class! (Version 1.1)

MacScan | Apr 25 2007 |
F451 This works well in the situation that I have where my mother, who is lives in another state, has to rely on others to troubleshoot her iMac when I cannot do so over the telephone, via iSight, or when I am visiting. I have no clue what these people do to her iMac, although she is there watching them. It is a peace of mind that is worth it. So for those who continually lambast this app for whatever reason, maybe they should consider situations where this might actually be very advantageous? The developer is very helpful too. (Version 2.4)

Web Snapper | Feb 3 2007 |
F451 Once installed you are unable to select Customize Toolbar in Safari. Tried to contact developer, and website give no means of doing so. There is no uninstall feature so I hunted down the pieces to remove them and return Safari back to normal. (Version 1.0)

DOLPHINBOY2U I love the potential of this plugin, but I had my Customize Address Bar menu item disable, as well. I emailed the developer today (2/14/2007), and received this reply from him within a few hours (which has resolved the problem for me): Do you perchance have SafariStand installed on you machine? We've discovered recently that there's an incompatibility between SafariStand and Red Snapper on some user's machines. We're working with the developer of SafariStand to come up with a fix for this problem. For now, temporarily disabling one or the other will fix the problem, and allow you to modify the toolbar. Red Snapper can be uninstalled by removing "Red Snapper.bundle" from the "/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins" folder, emptying the trash, and restarting Safari. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. http://www.tastyapps.com (Version 1.0)

F451 A wonderful means of fine-tuning your iTunes sound output. I have been looking for an app like this for a long time. Since it does fine-tune you will have to fiddle with it gain the desired output for your collection, but the time spent is worth it! This should have been part of iTunes to begin with...it is that good. (Version 1.1.3)

MailSteward | Dec 14 2006 |
F451 I purchased this for the full-price, and I couldn't be happier. It's great that others get an opportunity at MailSteward because of all the mail backup apps this one works best (at lest for me). An absolute bargain at this price for those who find it mandatory to backup and access crucial emails. (Version 7.6.2)

Delivery Status | Nov 12 2006 |
F451 The majority of Widgets I find useless and delete within a day's time, or the ones that I do find useful are poorly written, but I still use them as I like the information they convey. However, I still cringe when I use them. Delivery Status is one of the very, very few widgets that is well executed and written, actually works the way it was intended, provides useful information, and is visually elegant and well done. A sheer delight to use and look at! (Version 2.7)
