EZRABBIT Sorry for the double post, but I just installed this 2.2 update. Now Safari crashes on startup, so I had to completely uninstall Cosmopod. The report says: Symbol not found: _method_setImplementation Referenced from: /Library/InputManagers/CosmoPod/CosmoPod.bundle/Contents/MacOS/CosmoPod Expected in: dynamic lookup Anyone able to decipher that? Anyway, get SafariStand to download your flv files (or use the Activity window for other file types) and convert them with iSquint. Both are free and they WORK! (Version 2.2)

MACUPDATE ADMIN You should have reported this to the developer directly, not here in the reviews. Some/many/most devs never read posts here. http://www.cocoamug.com/cosmopod/ (Version 2.2)

WSTEVENS Got to tell you, I for one am glad he posted his problem here. One of the reasons I come to MacUpdate is to see if other users are having the same problems I'm having with a particular piece of software. I this case I am. I agree we need to let the developers know too when we have problem with their software. (Version 2.2)

If both things are done (posting here and contacting the dev) concurrently, it's all good. Over the years, I've seen many posts here from developers who bemoan the fact that most people do not contact them with their issues, that they can't fix what they don't know about, often only finding out abut a problem much much later when they just happen to stroll through the posts here. cosmopod 2.3 fixes these issues (number of simultaneous downloads, crash at startup on 10.4) A mail would have been nice, but I guess there is no harm alerting others of potential problems and alternative solutions too. major_panic@cocoamug.com (Version 2.3)

EZRABBIT I definitely agree with AIKOUSHA's "one-trick-pony" comment. I bought this thing because it seemed to work well, and it did... at first. Now the "Number of downloads" prefs won't change, it doesn't always add things to iTunes (yes the option is selected) and it occasionally tries to download a wmv file which isn't actually there. Sometimes when I try to download something from YouTube it will download the flv AND some fictional wmv file with a huge name which includes what appears to be webpage display parameters... I think. Safari's Activity window shows no such file, so I have no idea what CosmoPod is mistaking for a wmv file. Then when it tries to download this phantom file, Safari slows and freezes, as does everything else running. I actially had to turn off the power to restart my Mac! Oh, and iSquint makes better quality files as well. Waste of money, even if it is cheap. (Version 2.2)

iSquint | Jan 22 2008 |
EZRABBIT For the most part, this app works great for converting flv (youtube) files into ipod compatible files. There is one issue, however. It seems that if an flv file doesn't quite match the ipod's screen dimensions, iSquint makes up the difference with what appears to be rows of estimated pixels at the bottom of the display. It's like adding a poor quality water reflection at the bottom of the video. Surely it should default to a letterbox format if the dimensions are slightly off, rather than sticking rows of unwanted fuzziness at the bottom of the screen? The advanced options confuse me a bit, so does anyone know if it's possible to get iSquint to do this? (Version 1.5.1)

EZRABBIT If all else fails, this app will most likely play a troublesome file. Unfortunately, it's about as stable as a papier mâché rocking chair. Crashes about 50% of the time on my iMac G5 (10.4.11). Also, it would be great if you could tell it to stop giving error messages altogether. (Version 0.8.6d)

EZRABBIT I used to think Azureus was way to complicated, but after reading up on it and learning about things like port forwarding I've come to prefer it over the other osx torrent downloaders out there. My only quibble is a few small bugs in the UI. The items in the menu bar up top (particularly the little frog) tend to stay selected even after you click off them, so you end up needing to click them again to deselect them. Also, selecting contextual menu items (right click) usually takes two tries to get them to work. (Version 3.0.4)

EZRABBIT Shock J is absolutely right! $20 for an app which does what iTunes and the OS can do already? That's just nuts! Personally I use Audacity to edit and export mp3s into ringtones. But even that's still free! Follow Shock J's how-to link and leave this app alone! (Version 2.0 (37))

EZRABBIT I wanted to leave a comment on the forums but I am unable to register. It's been over a week and I have not gotten any response to activate my account, despite multiple emails to the developer. I wanted to ask why the sound effects for removing rows or 4x4 boxes were removed from the game? In this new version the blocks disappear silently. I think that was a bad decision and I'd like to ask the developers to consider putting those sounds effects back in. (Version 1.6)

EZRABBIT Does not work with PSP firmware 3.30. The PSP says the file produced is unplayable or not supported. Please fix this! (Version 1.0.4)

EZRABBIT Very pretty and despite other complaints, I'd say good work. My only suggestion is that you try to alter the graphics so that the cursor leaves behind more of a narrow trail than a series of wide bursts. (Version 1.1)

EZRABBIT Agreed! This theme is certainly a breath of fresh air! There are so many grays, silvers and "Aqua tweaks" out now that I've been wondering if the creativity well ran dry. Quite a few themers seem to have simply stopped production. It's too bad, really. Anyway, great stuff! (Version 1.0)

EZRABBIT I'm sorry, but iTunes makes the idea of charging for a 3rd party mp3 player absolutely ridiculous. Anyone who thinks that it's reasonable to make a shareware mp3 player for Mac OSX needs to be slapped with a fish. (Version 1.4.1)

EZRABBIT The game is great, but it crashes almost every other time someone wins. Also, it would be great if it could remember which players were AI, out, or active after you quit. Running OS 10.4.5. (Version 1.1)
