EGGMAN  If you're talking about using a keyboard shortcut to access bookmarks in your bookmarks bar, Command-"number" has worked for me for the longest time, with or without Saft.

EGGMAN  Uh, are you both high? Emulator Enhancer is NOT free - it's $30. Yes, you don't need it to use the emulators, but if you've paid the fee to restore functionality that was REMOVED from the open source Windows versions that Bannister ports over to Mac, the least you could expect is some decent update support.

EGGMAN  This is an awesome piece of nostalgia - I remember playing this game for hours on end. It doesn't need flashy graphics or beefed up sound or complex gameplay - it's just simple fun and a reminder of how far computers have come in 27 years. The fact that even just a simple port of the old classic makes the interface more intuitive than the original is amazing.

The one thing I'm glad is gone from the original is the annoying "save" feature. In the original, it was possible to get up to $100 in a short amount of time, but the game wouldn't believe you when it asked what your balance was on the last day, and it would start you off with $30. Annoying, indeed.

You can't compare this to other games, not even Lemonade Tycoon - that's like comparing Super Mario Sunshine to the original non-super Mario Bros.

Please, don't change a thing! This game doesn't need new scenarios, better graphics, or more things to buy - don't mess with a classic. Like it's been said, if you don't remember the original game, you won't get why this is so great.

EGGMAN  Oy, this app has got at least two unignorable bugs...

1) Clicking the button to turn off the music crashes the game

2) Arcade mode is unplayable - once the puzzle loads, a screen pops up saying time is up, before you get a chance to do anything.

It's nice to see an app handle different puzzle sizes than just 9x9, but the interface is average at best, and those two bugs are inexcuseable.

EGGMAN  It's not elegant, it's not fast, and there are plenty of other programs out there that can do most of what this program can do, and can do it faster and look better doing it.

HOWEVER, this program has two things that set it apart from many other Sudoku apps for the Mac: 1) it can generate its own puzzles (i.e., it doesn't download them from a website or come with a built-in library of puzzles) and you can even generate a book of them directly through this app, and 2) it is the ONLY app available that is capable of generating the 16x16 challenger puzzles that as yet have only been available in puzzle magazines - and it's even capable of generating a 25x25 (or larger... or even a 4x4 puzzle), though the larger puzzles use much more memory and solving them in-program slows it down to a crawl.

Some GUI refinements, a speed bump on the larger puzzle sizes, and better handling of in-program solving would truly make this a 5-star app.

EGGMAN  I swear by this browser, yet I seem to have this one recurring problem with Firefox: after it's been open a while, I'll bring the Firefox window back to the top after hiding it and the window will be blank. Mousing over the tabs and active buttons brings them back into view, but to get the whole screen back, I need to either move the window side to side so it gets redrawn or minimize/maximize the window in the dock. It gets annoying after a while - anyone have a fix?

THE EGGMAN  I used to love to play this game back in the OS 7 days, and this port brings back great memories. In all, after just one game, it seems to be a quite faithful and challenging rendition of the classic board/strategy game.

One comment, neither positive or negative, is the use of a recognizable sound bite or two that may or may not raise an eyebrow or two in the 'intellectual property' category. SInce the author does read these (I hope), he might decide to fix it (or not). Figured I'd mention it.
