TVshows | Aug 7 2008 |
It's clear from your "review" that you have downloaded this program under the wrong assumptions and thus you've kept hitting "problems" expecting it to do things it just doesn't do. So, to clear things up: "TVShows" is just a front end to tvrss.net. Nothing more. It allows you to subscribe to the RSS for any of the shows present there. It "sees" when a new episode of the resolution you asked for appears and opens it in your favorite torrent downloader. It is not supposed to find iPod versions, nor unusual programs not present in tvrss.net, nor most stuff from Asia. It cares not for formats or bytesizes as these are not even in the same universe, as far as the application knows. The application knows about: tvrss.net, RSS and downloading .torrent files that match VERY simple selectin rules. The uninstall is completed by opening TVShows, "DISABLING" TVShows and dumping the app to the trash. Hardly the stuff of legends or terminal adventuring. It checks as often as you tell it, unless you keep blocking it using "Ruby", which is a scripting/programming language TVShows uses to check for new shows. You keep blocking Ruby's access to the internet, then it'll keep trying to use it until it can check the "once a day" time you're asking for. What you want may be covered by TED, The Episode Downloader, which sacrifices simplicity to offer flexibility. Me? I have over 40 subscriptions in TVShows (including Doctor Who (2005) for which ALL episodes have shown, tvrss only keeps so many past torrents for each show) without a glitch. (Version 0.3.4)

TomTom HOME | Apr 4 2007 |
EDUO Has anyone noticed that while the MacUpdate page says it's version 2.0. When you download it you actually get version 1.5? (1.5.106 to be exact). It's not MacUpdate's fault, though. TomTom's page does the same thing. (Version 2.0)

Sparkle | Mar 16 2007 |
EDUO Actually, if Sparkle had some way to "publish" its update parameters it could be scanned by your prefpane. It would be a good step in the right direction and would push both projects for adoption. (Version 1.1)

EDUO This application is excellent. Does what it should do and does it quick. If it only could be automated (either automator actions, applescript or called from the command line) it would be perfect, as I usually transfer my GPS tracks and then transfer my photos and the process is always the same for them. If this was added to the application I'd be completely happy with it. (Version 1.3)

gpsdX | May 29 2006 |
EDUO A formal port of gpsd is a welcome addition (I had previously to always compile it by hand myself and it wasn't easy to have friends using it when necessary). I've test it with a Hicom BT GPS receiver and it works flawlessly. Something I think would be a good addition is a simple program that is able to capture gpsd's output and store it in an GPS interchange format for later processing by other applications. I'm not one for mapping applications (and, anyway, it's illegal in Spain to have a working laptop running in the front seats) but I do like to store the routes and wouldn't mind being able to store waypoints directly in the computer. Since I've moved from the Garmin I had to this BT receiver I have lost the ability to do it directly in the receiver and now need the laptop to do it. If I could set-up a way to store all the incoming data in a convertable format I could have the laptop running in the floor of the backseats and store waypoints whenever I decided to (by stopping, doing it and then continuing, I tend to mark as waypoints places I stop at). There might be already a tool that does this, but I can't find it. (Version 1.2)

MacUpdate Desktop | Apr 1 2006 |
EDUO This thing really needs the folllowing (I have it, by the way) 1.-Ability to give an URL, do a local search or provide a MacUpdate ID of a program when it can't find it (which should NEVER happen if programs are not renamed, but hey, it still can't find Virtual PC) 2.-To have a column specifying if the update is universal binary or not. 3.-To either try to download the file itself or redirect you to macupdate. 4.-Have a webkit-based browser for redirection (and maybe a special macupdate layout for it) 5.-I'll insist: It should be able to download the files itself. I'd even go as far as requesting it installs them itself but I could live with just the download. 6.-Couple with the MU Menu and warn when a new update exists. Launching the program is slow and it loads an initial list without any obvious result. 7.-Programs with updates should be scanned in thebackground in case they are updated. (Version 4.2.3)

fKeys | Dec 24 2005 |
EDUO Fkeys is a great start, and a good replacement for uControl now that it's been discontinued. I personally thank the coming of a new utility and eagerly await for it's expanded functionality (as it currently is is useless for me). Personally I hope some kind of solutions springs up where keys in extended multimedia keyboards can be recognized and then assigned to functions in MacOS. I currently use a Belkin Internet Keyboard (USB) and only three of the bunch of extra keys work. This is for my mother-in-law so for her it's confusing to have so many keys with no use. Unity | Aug 28 2005 |
EDUO The price might be $100 after rebate. That's hardly a LOT of money for this and it's even affordable by anyone seriosuly thinking on giving it a spin. Take a look at it: http://otee.dk/download.html Note: During an introductory period we offer an early adoptor rebate of $1000 / €750 / ¥115000 on Unity Pro and $150 / €100 / ¥17000 on Unity Indie. (you're looking for the 'Indie' version) (Version 1.1)

ABtoiCal | Apr 3 2005 |
EDUO I like this scripts. Fast, straightforward and to the point. I do have an issue with it where I've noticed I can't select my email address for the notification, nor can I select a different notification. This causes some problems with syncing. Other than that it works beautifully. It'd be nice if it was able to: 1.-Be able to properly choose the email address to use (home, work) 2.-Be able to setup a different kind of alert. 3.-Not create events from the person's birth date but from today onwards (this may just be how iCal shows it) 4.-Be able to represent ANY date (Version 1.8.2)

Text-based MSN Client | Dec 5 2004 |
EDUO I understand the past tense, but the phrase still shows there wasn't enough research. I'd understand that maybe the developers didn't like the existing ones, but not that they didn't know about them. CenterICQ alone has several years in its back to be so easily dismissed. (Version 0.1.3)

Saft | Nov 22 2004 |
EDUO This application is wonderful. It also integrates what other utilities do as well. If past versions are a clue, with luck Saft in the future might address the currently-LOUSY printing features of Safari as well. I'm waiting for someone to release something like that and Saft looks like the best possible candidate..:)

Comics | May 18 2004 |
EDUO This is for the developer, mainly because I didn't find a link in the webpage for sending this over. The software looks nice and it's a good idea. I was wondering if any of the following were in the To-Do list: 1.-Automatic Retrieval of Comic information from the UPC or from the title, including Cover scan 2.-Handling of other items, like Heroclix 2.-Price tracking of the numbers (I think for this and for #1 above the developer could strike a deal with comicspriceguide.,com where if the user has an account there the program can exchange information with their database) (Version 1.4)

COMICS DEVELOPER I'm searching for a good site that can give me a good file type format where I can retrieve all comics information needed. If you know one, please, let me know.

Kodak Easyshare | May 18 2004 |
I entered, registered and downloaded EasyShare in less than five minutes after seeing a hint in macosxhints reccomending the software. I never had a problem. There is something broken in your set-up. Try not blocking pop-up pages in Safari to see if it works.

XDonkey | Feb 9 2004 |
EDUO You may want to try adding port forwarding to your router/modem, should you have one. This trivial bit of information usually slips even the most experienced ones and is now the first thing I check. Donkey is not a client, but a server, and as such needs port forwarding enabled for it to work. Since I run a webserver as well I just go ahead and assign the whole range (1 to 65533) to my internal LAN IP. You may want to try that. (Version 0.6)

Region X | Jan 31 2004 |
EDUO Correction: There is no firmware update yet available for the UJ-816 Drive for region-free behaviour. UJ-816 is the same as the older UJ-815 but with the features of mac speed for recording enabled by default. Sadly this means the firmware updates in http://superdrive.cynikal.net/#q12 can't update the newer Al Powerbooks as the version check doesn't validate. Has anyone got a way to bypass this? DVD Cache | Nov 26 2003 |
EDUO DVD Profiler is not free, buddy. It's a kind of shareware where paying for it gets rid of the nag screens, the advertising and gives you better-quality DVD Covers. It also has a hideous, busy interface and the first time you runt it decided it will download over 40 MB of data to your hard disk. DVD Cache is a great program whose only shortcomings against any other out there are no auto-generation of Reports for the Web and searching by UPC for addition to database (which DVD Profiler and ReaderwareVW both have). DVD Cache | Oct 13 2003 |
EDUO It would be coold if this program offered three things: 1.-The ability to input UPC or ISBN codes and then have information pulled from one of the several open database on the internet. 2.-Be able to pull information from IMDB or Amazon directly (like readerware) without the need to manually input it all, 3.-Export information as Text, Palm and/or HTML with image(s) (Version 0.6a)

EDUO The script works great, but the support is lacking. I paid for this software several days ago and haven't received a number to unlock it (full license too!). The demo has expired less than a week after using it (supposedly it should've run for two) and I'm stranded. I will try and look for a pirate number for this software while I get a response from Kagi or the developer but the charge has already been made. Sad affair. (Version 1.2.10)

HTMLize AddressBook | Aug 6 2003 |
EDUO Great little utility. Nice layout mimicks AddressBook's clean interface on the web. Could do with a few improvements to be perfect: 1.- Support for VCF links in the generated HTML, Addressbook generates this text files automatically, so it should be easy to include them. 2.-Support for GIF or JPG graphics, instead of TIF (probably means the script should run the files through Quicktime conversion) 3.-Some kind of online support for updating of data, so users can update their data (I know this is out of the scope of the program, but it would a good thing, either this or a link to some other recommended program that could) 4.-A form to send e-mail to all the contacts with e-mail asking them to review their data (or to some, this could be even done in the client side without much problem through HTML) 5.-Support for unframed, single window navigation (for linkage) These are not complaints, jsut suggestiong that arose when using this already great utility. I had some problems with the script, but they were my fault (enabling nteractive execution in AppleScript is not a good idea, it multiplied the times tenfold) (Version 1.1.1)
