SquareCaster

EDDY RINGSMUTH  mmm, right. So if you actually LOOKED at the source code, you would have seen that I link back to news.txt on my website. Upon closer examination, you will notice that it grabs the text (not any html/javascript code) and displays it near the top of the screen.

reason 1. BECAUSE I CAN

reason 2. So i can see how many people use my script, and find out if it's worth my time to fix stuff. :-P.

rebuttal 1. ads are bad? this is a text google ad, are you nuts/live in a cave? as long as squarecaster is freeware I'll have a single google ad. If you can't handle that... good luck mr. monk.

EDDY RINGSMUTH  This has got to be the single best and most useful piece of software I have ever used. I've followed this program since version 0.0.3, but didn't register until 0.0.9p.

Support this programmer if you like the software. Plus, the 2 extra features are extremely useful.

EDDY RINGSMUTH  It works great for me. Things that may be different: I am running my user as an admin, my ipod is a gen 3, i'm running the WWDC tiger preview (this part shouldn't matter), my itunes library is located at ~/music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.

EDDY RINGSMUTH  What's the frames-per-second look like on those games? for stuff that uses the quake engine u can pull down a console and type cg_drawfps 1 or cg_fps 1.

StuffIt Deluxe 2010
Sep 21 2004

EDDY  "There are no longer any reasons to use Stuffit in OS X."

Yes there are silly. There's a whole ton of reason as to why we should use stuffit, the least of which being that everybody has it. First off, the compression is unsurpassed if set to the maximum setting. Second, the compression/decompression is very fast as compared to .zip, .tgz, .rar, .tar... everything except .dmg which I admit is very fast. Anyways, stuffit still gives us way better compression than the .dmg format, and since everybody with OS X (and most people with earlier versions of mac) have it, its totally worth it to keep using it!

Just my 2 cents

EDDY RINGSMUTH  1 word, Awesome. It does exactly what it says it will do, and it does it very well. If only you could select more than one song... Anyway, its well worth the price (free), and for 79.9KB you can't go wrong!

Good work.

EDDY  Hey,

Based on the technology its using, you still won't get a smooth framerate even if you put a gig of ram in you box. Video hijack software hasn't gotten advanced enough, and Screen Capture is no exception.

personally, I resorted to doing frame-by-frame screenshots & loading them into Quicktime Pro for smooth framerates. Tedious - yes, but the quality is unsurpassed.

Peace,

~~Eddy~~

iPodBackup

EDDY RINGSMUTH  There are many files in your ~/Library/ that can only be backed up successfully with an admin password. You see, no other user besides you can access those files, so on another computer (without the admin/super user password) those files would be useless (and you wouldn't get a good backup).

All in all, it DOES need the admin password to work properly.

P.S. I don't know the developer, but i'm pretty sure this is the reason
