DYLAN MCNAMEE Does the PC version available for $5.99 from http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/descent_1_descent_2 work? (Version 1.14.60)

GLTerminal | Sep 10 2009 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE With "display curvature" enabled ("Classic Terminal" under render preferences), this thing makes your flat-screen LCD look so much like an old school curved phosphor screen that it's creepy/cool/hilarious. Playing nethack in that mode sends me back. Supercool! And it runs just fine in Snow Leopard! (Version 0.9.2)

CrossOver Games | Sep 3 2009 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE But if you got it during the celebration "Crossover is free for a day" promotional, then no, you've got the full version (but probably only a year of updates for free). (Version 8.0)

DYLAN MCNAMEE "SixtyFourSwitcher is a two-way (Intel 32 and Intel 64) universal binary" Source code is available on the developer's website, too. (Version 1.0)

DYLAN MCNAMEE I have to agree -- this preview is showing me no significant changes from the previous version. It would appear the "version bump" is purely a revenue generator. (Version 2.0v74)

DYLAN MCNAMEE No IMAP support sinks its relevance to me. Too bad, too - I always enjoy BareBones interfaces. (Version 2.2)

DYLAN MCNAMEE Fun game, novel gameplay - very much an "area control" game. Galcon and Pax Galaxia have vaguely related gameplay, but both of those are much more frantic - this is a calmer, logic-driven game. Well executed & very nice graphics as well. At $6, it's a very good deal. These early versions are causing my laptop to get too hot, though...it would be nice if that were fixed. (Version 1.2)

Lockdown | Aug 24 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE I sympathize with your frustration, but this comment sounds baiting (stuff like this makes me prefer Windows). For free software, ease of development is a big deal. With each version of MacOS, Apple makes leaps in making free software easier to write. Developers don't do this out of spite, unlike the tone of this comment. (Version 1.0.5)

DiskLibrary | Aug 15 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE Two "monkeys" in a row saying bad stuff about this app...either weird coincidence, or a developer/fan of another disk cataloger trying to suppress this fine app. I've had none of the problems reported here -- it's fast to index and search, and I've got hundreds of disks cataloged. (Version 1.8.1)

Intaglio | Aug 11 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE I agree with what you say here. As an owner of Lineform and Illustrator (pre-CS), I found having this "around" to be handy, but not essential. At this upgrade price, I'm going to shine it on, and delete the app from my harddrive. (Version 3.0.1)

DYLAN MCNAMEE Where does one get a copy of Descent &/or Descent 2? They aren't available anywhere in "jewel box" form, from what I can see. (Version 1.13.48)

ANONYMOUS You can also officially get a downloadable full version of the original game from Good Old Games (www.GOG.com) for little money. (Version 1.14)

Cheap Impostor | Apr 22 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE Thanks for pointing out this free resource! What Cheap Impostor gives you that this service doesn't is control over the imposition process - offsets, zoom, creep, etc. (Version 3.1)

OmniGraffle Pro | Mar 6 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE I concur with the other folks. I don't mind paying serious money for software (heck, I bought OG Pro in the first place), but this upgrade fee is too rich for my blood. Yes, there's good stuff in this version, but much of it "belonged" in earlier versions (IMO), and the truly new stuff doesn't warrant the steep upgrade price. (Version 5.0)

Simplify Media | Jan 6 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE Simplify Media works great for me. The interface is invisible once you set it up (you just use iTunes!). I was able to hear my music at my family's house during the holidays. I can share my music with my friends and family, and I can hear my home music collection while I'm at work. And it's free! Thanks! (Version beta)

MyTunesRSS | Jan 6 2008 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE I like it, but SimplifyMedia works better for me...plus, SimplifyMedia is free. MyTunes RSS was my tool of choice for accessing my own iTunes remotely, but then it stopped being free, and more recently SimplifyMedia came out, does the same thing, and with a more invisible interface: my iTunes libraries show up in the "shared" section of iTunes wherever I am! (Version 3.1)

MIDE72 Well, I think you cannot compare Simplify Media and MyTunesRSS. They might basically do the same but have quite different approaches and feature sets. Please visit http://www.codewave.de/products/mytunesrss and read about all the great features. Also have a look at http://board.codewave.de for latest development news (e.g. latest beta versions).

DYLAN MCNAMEE What a fantastic way to learn & teach visualization in 3-D! I just downloaded this with my 4-year-old son on my lap. He watched me solve five puzzles then pushed me out of the way and started using POV to build structures of his own. That's high testament to the appeal of this program, and the ease of use of the interface. (Version 1.0.1)

Librarian Pro | Oct 9 2007 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE I enjoy adding stuff to Delicious Library, but it's not that useful for me most days. I use DiskLibrary all the time to find stuff I've archived to CD and DVD, and it's getting more powerful all the time, but it's only for data discs. Perhaps this is the uber-app I've been looking for? (Version 1.0.8)

Fairy Tower | Oct 4 2007 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE Littlewing makes the best pinball simulations I've ever seen, and this one is at least as good or maybe better than Monster Fair (my previous favorite). There's an almost physical feel to the simulation, the boards are fanciful, but not outlandishly impossible to imagine being real pinball games. In short, I tried the demo, and bought my copy after three plays, and I'm still playing. (Version 1.1.4)

Path Finder | Aug 1 2007 |
DYLAN MCNAMEE I've always wondered whether PathFinder would be a mac-life-changing tool that a launcher (like LaunchBar or QuickSilver) was...maybe I'll finally give it a try. (Version 4.7.2)
