DOUG BRANDT  OK... got it working. Did away with all my old Logitech prefs and that did it. Thanks for the heads up!

USB Overdrive X

DOUG BRANDT  I am using 10.6.1 and downloaded and installed USB Overdrive X 3.0 and I couldn't get anything to work either. Didn't recognize my Logitech MX Laser 1000. I uninstalled 3.0 and went back to 10.4.8..... which works great.

DOUG BRANDT  I contacted Mr. Bauer and told him my story of purchasing his product (which I am very happy with bye the way...) and that my SN did not work. He went ahead and gave me a new SN for the upgrade. I don't feel bad at all that I purchased BurnAgain just a few days before it was offered at a discount thru MU. Good on you Mr Bauer.

SANDYC  Yikes! As someone that uses Quark, Adobe, Macromedia, etc. products professionally, I can tell you that paying for upgrades is just a way of life. I've always believed you shouldn't have to pay for bug fixes, but new features cost. Adding DVD support to BurnAgain is a major development step. An upgrade fee is well deserved. I've emailed this developer in the past regarding tech support (mostly feature requests) and they have always been very responsive.

DOUG BRANDT  I recently purchased (1/8/07) Burn Again, received the serial number... entered it... all OK. Now that the name has been changed to Burn Again DVD, I tried entering the serial number... and no go.. won't accept the serial number.

The Unarchiver
Nov 28 2006

DOUG BRANDT  I've downloaded it and installed it in my Applications folder. I've put Stuffit 11 in my trash. I've logged out/in. When I download a file, it just sits on my desktop in the .zip format until I drag that over the The Unarchiver icon. Then it works fine. If I double click on the .zip file on my desktop, it tells me "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code - 10660). What am I doing wrong? Thanks...

DOUG BRANDT  Unless I have my Spotlight configured wrong (and I don't think I do).... the only thing I can get to 'pop-up' is the address card from my address book when I type in a name... then I have to click on the persons name next to the card to get their phone number. TapDex does this all in on key-stroke.

JIMW  When I type a name in Spotlight, it shows a list of contacts with that name. When I click on the desired contact, it shows me the complete address card.

I also use Jon's Phone tool. It gives me a phone list of my address book in a contextual menu format and when a choose a contact from an alphabetical index, it dials the number for me.

It is not that I believe this program is bad. I just feel that given the alternatives, my money need not be spent or is better spent on other more full featured resources.

iPhoto Buddy

DOUG BRANDT  Forgive the possible dumb question... but, with the ability to have multiple photo albums with iPhoto 5, why use iPhoto Buddy? Or... am I missing other 'Buddy' features that iPhoto 5 does not have?

iPhoto Buddy

KIWILEGAL  iPhoto Buddy allows you to have completely separate and independent iPhoto folders for different photo collections.

In other words, using iPhoto, you cannot access photos in collection A while iPhoto is viewing collection B.

The big advantage is it limits your photo collections to a manageable size which helps organise things and means iPhoto is faster.

If you want to look at collection A while in iPhoto (to continue my example above), you must run iPhoto Buddy which will switch iPhoto to access collection A.

Moving photos between collections becomes a little bit more tricky as a result because you cannot have collection A and collection B open at the same time in iPhoto. You will need to export and import phtos to achieve this. You cannot drag and drop (without a third party piece of software).
