DAVID PELTON Greetings Eric, You may have been a little tongue in cheek, but at the risk of others not realizing it; Office ships with multiple language files in one location (the Office Setup Assistant), and those are the license files. There are 12 languages that Office ships in, and the license is written in each of those 12 languages. This is done, just like Apple does, so that if you work in a language other than that which you purchased Office for you will be able to read the license if you choose to (for example, someone buying the English version of Office but having their OS in French). Of course, this does require that you are using a language we localize to - currently Swahili and Zulu are not among the 12 . However, to your point, we no longer search on these files when looking for a valid install of Office on a machine. As many forums have pointed out, you can use Monolingual and other tools to strip out the few KB of localized files Office installs and it will no longer prevent you from updating. As for the massive receipt issue, we are looking into that issue. It affects people who used the updater on the website rather than using AutoUpdate; sorry that you are one of those. As for the number of receipts, again we are following Apple's model. To give customers flexibility in their initial installation requires multiple packages in the installer (each package creates its own receipt). When you update, the installer also drops receipts for those packages in the updater. You can see this with Apple items in the Receipts folder where depending on how long it has been since you wiped your drive you could be like me and have over 200 receipts for the various OS related pieces. I hope this helps explain a few items Microsoft MacBU (Version 12.1.7) |
