I've played with versions 0.1 and 0.2 and tms is GREAT. Its so nice to be able to see a simple list of all revisions for a given file, or find what files changed in a specific directory between two Time Machine snapshots.

Invaluable!

Thanks so much to the developer for making this, and especially for releasing it as freeware!

Excellent idea! This is the type of tool I've wanted since Leopard's release. I'm definitely going to try it out, and I especially like that it is read-only and never modifies anything to do with Time Machine.

Transmit is utterly reliable. I have a fairly extensive automated (using shell scripts, AppleScript, and Automator) backups that upload archives to .Mac, an SFTP account, and an Amazon S3 account, and Transmit always works flawlessly.

I frequently open large to very large (tens of MB to several GB) archives, and BetterZip 1.6 is much MUCH faster opening them! This is an excellent update to an already very good product.

OmniGraffle 5 Pro is an impressive upgrade. Its new Visio binary file importer loaded my Visio 2007 .vsd files VERY well and very quickly. Bezier curves appear to be handled very well!

Some OmniGraffle 4 Pro documents imported a little oddly, though. While the drawings themselves were correct, the Canvas was smaller than in OmniGraffle 4 Pro, which was causing clipping when printing until adjusted (kind of a pain...).

Another superb and stable update. This is probably my most important Mac utility, and its incredibly reassuring to have it working under Leopard. Kudos to Dave Nanian for taking the time to do it right.

I had a SuperDuper! 2.5 Smart Update failure yesterday (which ended up being because of corrupt files on my system from an failed .Mac sync several months ago), and despite the incredibly busy day Dave was probably having on the first day of the SuperDuper! 2.5 release, he responded quickly with accurate and helpful advice which helped me fix my problem. The SuperDuper! 2.5 Smart Update then worked perfectly. This level of support is rare and deserves to be congratulated. Thanks!!

I agree 100% with Dave Nanian here. While using hard links would save space, it would totally mess up the core concept behind Time Machine by changing these files. Plus, who knows what kind of havoc this would wreak with subsequent Time Machine backups as its "baseline" backup would have been altered!

Ugh. Its a Pandora's Box that I glad SuperDuper's developer didn't open. As always, Dave Nanian went the "safe" route with SuperDuper!, which is what I want (demand, really) with backup software.

Even with the affiliate mini-debacle, Inquisitor remains one of my favorite and most-used Safari plug-ins.

I think the subtle affiliate approach as taken by Inquisitor is perfectly acceptable, but I do wish the author had made it clear that this was taking place.

I have used Inquisitor and 1Passwd/1Password together for many months with zero problems. These are two of my most-used and nearly indispensable Safari plug-ins, and I'm sure I'd notice any non-trivial compatibility issues.

iconCompo has a lot of promise, but is VERY slow on my system (Mac Pro 3.0 GHz Quad Xeon with 4GB RAM running Mac OS X 10.5.1)) when launching the app or when using the sliders...

The Finder contextual menu item is likewise very useful, but messes up the Finder. After using the iconCompo Finder contextual menu item, my Finder won't respond to any AppleScript commands until I quit it and then relaunch it. Weird.

If these problems were fixed and the author added the ability to combine base icons (like folder icons) with text (like CanCombineIcons or FolderBrander), I'd buy it.

I am seeing issues similar to PORTKINS.

Movie thumbnails go blank and movies don't play properly, either as thumbnails or full-size versions. My movies are large home movies; 1-3GB H.264 MP4 files converted from DVD using Visual Hub. These movies play perfectly in QuickTime Player.

I like the user interface and layout of yFlicks, but it seems too buggy, at least with my movies, to purchase at this time.

How well does this work with Intel Macs? I'm thinking of buying a Nikon CoolScan V ED File Scanner, but am hesitating because of this driver/support question.

The Vostrom web site says Path Analyzer Pro's normal price is $29.95, not $39.95. Is this MacUpdate Promo really the "Premier" version, which is list as$39.95 at the Vostrom web site?

If so, I'll probably buy it as it appears to be a pretty nice product and I've had good luck with MacUpdate Promos in the past.

One cool aspect of this app is that it can save as a PDF with an editable version of the Papyrus document embedded in the PDF. So users without Papyrus can read the document without needed to "Save As" or Print to PDF, and this same version is editable for Papyrus users!

I figured it out... I add the 'ƒ' (option-f) character to my folder names (an old convention from my Mac OS System 4.2 days...). Apparently, Peek-a-Boo doesn't properly support Unicode paths. Changing 'ƒ' to "folder" fixes the beachball problem.

Kudos to Aspyr for making this a free update!

The game is really fun, with an active and friendly community. The developers are extremely responsive and involve the user community in a unique and remarkable way, allowing particularly resposible and dedicated users to actually modify the official game and game world!

Stability is good, performance is terrific (especially with the new Universal Binary release), and gameplay is fun and immersive for both casual and fanatic gamers!

$30 with no monthly fee for online play and the ability to play both locally-only ad/or online make this game a real bargain. Plus, a free trial version is avaialble.

I highly recommend it!

Windows by default uses the numeric keypad for cursor movement, so this might be what you're seeing. Try pressing the "Clear" (NumLock in Windows) key (the upper-left key in the numeric keypad), then trying to enter number via the numeric keypad.

I was so frustrated with the "upgrade" (hmmm...) from StickyBrain to the extremely buggy and slow (in my experience, at least) SOHO Notes that I switched to DEVONthink Professional (and I am thrilled with DTpro). This was a move out of desperation, as SOHO Notes was become unusable and very slow, and I had too much critical information entrusted to it...

Now Chronos, the developer of SOHO Notes, has abruptly terminated their technical support forums, which were the main way customers were able to get help (as the help came as often from other users as from Chronos). I'd seriously consider one of the many alternatives to SOHO Notes, as the loss of the support forums is a HUGE blow to so many Chronos customers...

CocoaMySQL just keeps getting better and better. Its extremely useful in that it connects both with old MySQL versions (such as the Windows MySQL 3.23.58-nt I need for my work project) as well as the latest versions (such as MySQL 5.0.24-standard on my Mac). I use CocoaMySQL to move databases from the PC running MySQL 3.23.58 to my Mac running MySQL 5.0.24 so that I can do subselect and other more advanced queries not supported by 3.23.58, then move the updated databases back to MySQL 3.23.58.

CocoaMySQL makes this easy, with a very Mac-like GUI, impressive robustness, and good performance!

I just tried SlingShot 1.03 and I'm disappointed... The password field doesn;t use bullets to obscure the password; its readable both when entering it and when editing it later. The password is also readable in the log since it stored there in plain text. I unchecked the check button to allow a published folder to accept updates, but the log indicated that it was still accepting updates! This could cause data loss! Also, my remote system (the subscriber) could not subscribe to a published folder since it would never accept my password, it kept saying it was wrong when it was EXACTLY the same.

Maybe a future version will work better, but for now, be SURE to try this before you buy it...

After upgrading from StickyBrain 3.6.0 to 4.0.0 (which didn't require a reboot, unlike the 3.6.0 installer!), when I ran StickyBrain 4 it converted my database (which took several minutes, but I have 181 notes, some of which are pretty big; my database backup file is 5.1 MB) and then didn't display a main window. I couldn't get it to display the main window at all, even after a reboot.

The FlashNote menu/window worked fine, though, and if I double-clicked on a note it opened fine (and I could edit noted this way) as well.

Eventually I quit StickyBrain and tried deleting the existing StickyBrain preferences file (~/Library/Preferences/com.chronos.StickyBrain.plist) and then re-ran StickyBrain. The main window opened fine then! I manually restored my preferences, and it continues to work fine.

Performance is definitely improved over version 3.6.0, and aside from the weird preferences bug, I'm pleased with the update.

I'm really pleased with this (FREE for owners of version 1.x) upgrade! SuperDuper is still extremely easy to use, and the new scheduling feature is working wonderfully. I find it clones faster than Carbon Copy Cloner (also an excellent product), but to be even more reliable (CCC would sometimes fail cloning to a Firewire drive, but SuperDuper has never failed me). In the year or so I've been using SuperDuper, it has been 100% reliable (I use it to clone 4-5 volumes, ranging in size from 80GB to 225GB, weekly). I mainly use its "smart update" copy/clone feature, and this has always worked perfectly for me.

I think this is an extraordinary game; it is unique, immersive, and endlessly fascinating. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination (and available play time...). People are friendly and often uninhibited (this game has a lot of areas labeled "mature"; you should take this classification seriously if such things upset you), and this allows people to anonymously express themselves in a way that real life doesn't allow. I think this is one of the games most unusual and compelling features!

The graphics are amazing, but do require a lot of horsepower; even my Dual 2.5 GHz GG with 2.0 GB RAM and 256MB Radeon 9800XT gets bogged down from time to time. The sheer variety of building styles and textures, clothing and "skin" options, and other amazing (usually user-created) objects make this world unlike any other.

This is an interesting idea, but the beta version's execution is flawed. It worked fine in the System Preferences "preview", but when triggered via a hot corner, it appeared to lock up my Mac (dual 1.0 GHz "MDD" G5 with 1.5 GB RAM and Radeon 9000 Pro running Mac OS X 10.3.4) - both of my monitors went black, but no pictures were displayed and I couldn't get the password window to appear (my system is set to prompt for a password after exiting the screensaver). After about a minute or so, though, I did get the password dialog and was able to get back into my account. I went back to my old screen saver right away!

When I looked at it in the System Preferences "preview" mode, it worked pretty well, displaying separate images on my two monitors (a very nice touch). This is kind of a cool "voyeur" screensaver, but might not be good for work, since some images it (randomly) found were pretty bizarre... It was fun to see what people take pictures of, though, and some of the images were very beautiful.

With some more testing (and the fixing of that LONG delay when exiting the screensaver and displaying the password dialog), this will be a really cool screensaver to use.

Nice feature set but VERY buggy. All versions through 2.1 crash on me VERY frequently... I moved to iOrganize and have been very pleased. iOrganize is very stable, has an even better feature set, and is well worth its modest $20 shareware fee.
