DARTH BROOKS This is the first time I've played MacPinball and, although it's not as horrid as previous reviews suggest, I would never pay ten bucks for it. After "Game Over", at least one can keep playing by clicking "Game". (Version 6.0.2)

DARTH BROOKS Bah, offer this thing as a downloadable installer and I might try it. Otherwise, I refuse to let Adobe Flash Player do it behind my back. Two thumbs down. (Version 1.1)

NetBarrier X5 | Feb 14 2008 |
DARTH BROOKS Ignore the comments and rating, below, by MAC ATA, he obviously doesn't know how to use this software much less uninstall it. Once NetBarrier is configured -- admittedly a bit tricky at first especially if you're on a network and do port forwarding -- it stands guard like a silent pit bull that never sleeps. And no, NetBarrier X4 does not disable the built-in Mac OS 10.4 Tiger firewall; they can peacefully coexist. (Version 10.5.1)

DARTH BROOKS EEK! I've seen only only one of these under an early version of Tiger; Panther several. Very realistic, lots of fun, put this in someone's StartupItems. Wait, did I say that? (Version 1.1.1)

Play | Oct 15 2007 |
DARTH BROOKS Working OK here on 10.4.10 PPC, although I haven't explored features beyond bacis play functions. Thanks, Stephen F. Booth. However, according to the README, Play "supports DSP effects using Audio Units." I've searched all the menus and can't find anything to support this. (Version 0.2)

DARTH BROOKS Absolutely agree with THUNDERCLAP82. I use my own autumn photos as desktops and screensavers and would never dream of converting them to black and white. Nice shots, Jimmy Sabater, but please -- color. (Version 1.0)

DARTH BROOKS Installed the new M-Audio FireWire 410 1.8.2 drivers, updated the system to Mac OS X 10.4.9 PPC, and everything is working as it should on this G5 Dual 2.3. (Version 1.8.2)

M-Audio FireWire 410 | Dec 19 2006 |
DARTH BROOKS The 1.8.1 drivers are working flawlessly on my G5 Dual 2.3 under MacOS 10.4.8. The reviewer below does not specify whether his Mac is PPC or Intel so I can only assume there are problems with the latter. (Version 1.8.1)

DARTH BROOKS Handy little countdown timer -- not perfect because it occasionally quits or fails to launch unexpectedly -- but nevertheless my timer of choice because of its unobtrusiveness. Thanks. (Version 2)

DARTH BROOKS Setup appears to go OK... but how do I configure this thing? How does WAN Check "notify when connection is active again"? System beep? Email? Pony Express? Would be nice to have a little more control over its functions. (Version 2.0.1)

TIMLENERTZ Thanks for your review! You may be able to fix these problems by updating to Mac OS X 10.4.7 (it seems fix some CoreAudio bugs of this kind), and by activating the options "Use two AUTimePitch components" and "Avoid AUTimePitch bug" which can be found in the advanced settings of the preferences. ISHAN3 $15 is two fine fast food meals. For that, this app is really useful when making presentations on a large screen-to highlight certain topics, etc. It's also a lot of fun. The interface is a bit different as well. For the price of a couple of Big Mac meals at McDonald's, I bought this app. (Version 1.0)

DARTH BROOKS Most flagrant bug is that the Equalizer keeps reappearing whenever a new album is dropped on the well. The Equalizer doubles... DOUBLES... CPU usage. Also, it would be nice to be able to re-size the main window horizontally to accomodate long song and album names. (Version 1.0.9)

M-Audio FireWire 410 | Apr 17 2006 |
DARTH BROOKS Frankly, I don't know why all the negative reviews. What's the problem? I've owned the FireWire 410 for two and a half years and it's been a joy. I've run it in 10.3.9 on a 933 G4 and currently in 10.4.5 on a Dual 2.3 G5. I use MIDI from a keyboard controller, analog IN from a guitar, mostly listen through headphones but occasionally send the signal line OUT to external powered speakers. On one early occasion launching Logic Express 7 resulted in a kernel panic, but then I was using the wrong drivers. The 410 is built rock solid and the feel of the controls is superb. And although it's not my DAW, I'm happy to see that Pro Tools can now be run on M-Audio hardware. (Version 1.7.1)

BILL83 There is still a "lite" version of the program that is free and it has more functionality than earlier free versions. The "for pay" version has significant new functionality but I agree it may not be worth $29 to everyone. Serious amateur astronomers should appreciate it though. As for beauty, what changes from the past version do you regard as a step backwards? (Version 1.3)
