This is a slick app that makes finding, viewing and downloading content from YouTube a snap. I'm highly impressed! |

FVD is just about the easiest way to get Flash videos from popular sites such as YouTube onto your own hard disk. In my testing so far with about 20 downloads from three different sites, FVD has not failed once. This one is a keeper. |

The author is unable to do anything about it until he gets in touch with TV Today on Monday. They've already changed their format twice in just a few days and he needs to know about any other changes being made. Warten kann ich doch auch, aber auf eine funktionierende Version darf ich mich trotzdem freuen. |

If you have access to German television, this is the widget to have. It provides a customized list of TV channels, summaries of movies and series episodes, integration with Internet Movie Database, EyeTV support, alarms, Growl integration and much, much more. I've tested dozens of widgets for various purposes and none compare to the rich feature set of Fernsehen. And a big danke schön to the programmers for (hopefully) getting this to work again after TV Today changed the file format. |

"Darrel, it checks if Growl is running and if its not, it just disabled the Growl options in the settings tab. I just tested this and I can't seem to recreate your error. It should not halt the program if it doesn't see Growl, I'm not sure what to tell you." I just tried it again. The preferences menu item is grayed out so there's no way for me to make the change. The program is running, but there is nothing I can do with it. I'm very interested in a working program, so I'll be contacting you about any test versions you come out with. |
|
On launch it asks for the location of "Growl Helper App". It seems the program is non-functional without it. |

Why not develop new browsers based on WebKit? After all, there are some nifty features that have been added to browsers such as SunriseBrowser and Shiira, both based on WebKit. Have a look for yourselves. If you are happy with Safari and Firefox, then stick with them and don't download others to try out. And if the developer's goal is to create a light-weight, but configurable browser (i.e. loading text only), why not applaud diversity rather than just criticize the fact that there are so many browsers? My Mac Web Browsers list now has 98 entries for browsers available for Mac OS 9/X and I encourage others to develop new browsers with features not seen in other ones! Go for it, Ken! |

For those of you experiencing an expired 5.0b6 like me, download *5.0b6.1*. You can now buy 5.0 or pay for the upgrade from 4.5 and register the program to get rid of all the nagging stuff. |
|
There is no problem with OmniWeb 5.0 beta 6 for new users or for users that can put up with nags to buy the software. The problem is for *registered* users that may have already paid for the software and yet still get nagged to buy it (currently you can only buy a license for 4.5). Sure, there are other fine browsers out there (I've been maintaining "the best" listing of Macintosh Web browsers for years), but OmniWeb is my main browser, and I want to pay for it and use it without being bothered. With beta 6 this is simply not possible. You can use 5.0b6 for free and it will run in demo mode only. You can buy a license for 4.5 that will automatically be upgraded to the final version of 5.0, but NO you can't register the software yet - my criteria for using the software on a daily basis! |
|
OmniWeb 4.5 became my preferred browser and the 5.0 betas have provided an even better browsing experience, but having the run beta 6 in demo mode only - with no alternative for deactivating the nagging crap they have built in by buying a license (which I am entirely willing to do) is just plain stupid. And going back to version 4.5 is not an option, because in the meantime the nightly builds of Camino 0.8 are better, Firefox 0.8 is better and the Opera 7.5 betas are also better. The demo policy for the new beta disgusts me. I don't like to see nag or wait screens and they are a major reason why I have registered over 200 shareware programs. I am willing to pay to use great software. So, why the hell are they making my main browser a demo version and allowing me no other reasonable options? I'm stick with 5.0b5 until it expires and reconsider my options then. |
