Chax

DCT  I love this application and, interestingly enough, I prefer the direction Chax 3.x is headed in Snow Leopard. It feels much more integrated. The developer is really on top of this and the timely updates are rolling out surprisingly fast. Thank you and keep up the great work!

DCT  BEWARE: After paying, you will not receive a license. I have sent three emails to the author with no response. Fortunately, I paid with AMEX through PayPal so I can dispute the payment.

Apple Security Update
Mar 18 2008

DCT  After applying this security update, I can no longer print to my network Phaser 8550DP. Used Onyx, used Cocktail, used Diskwarrior, deleted preferences and queues... no luck. Print job shows up in queue but queue stops due to CUPS errors.

DCT  Finest ftp product I've ever used from any vendor. The customer service and technical support is second to none.

DCT  Junk. Doesn't work. Unresponsive developer (which is far worse than software that doesn't work).

DCT  I cannot get this to work.

The widget is generated perfectly in the browser but it won't download. I have read all details and double checked my entries. I tried different browsers. Any help or suggestions from the developer wouldbe appreciated. Here is what I see in the browser upon generating the widget:

Warning: fopen(NapaValleyWineRadio.zip) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/innermin/public_html/WIDGETWIZARD/zip.php on line 165

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/innermin/public_html/WIDGETWIZARD/zip.php on line 166

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/innermin/public_html/WIDGETWIZARD/zip.php on line 167

DCT  I've come to expect high quality applications from Ambrosia Software with applications like SnapzPro X and WireTap Pro to their credit but this is simply garbage. Save your money. Okay, maybe I can live with an application that falls short of innovation but it hangs, crashes, and introduces the spinning beach ball from hell. Using a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 with 4 GB SDRAM. Stick with Transmit or Fetch.

PocketMac for Blackberry
Dec 25 2006
*....

DCT  Since there is nothing else that will synch my Blackberry Pearl with my Macintosh, I never thought I would write a review where I was "glad" to finally have an application that sometimes (rarely) works. The USB connection has a mind of it's own and needs to be plugged in and out several times before it finally takes. This software is very temperamental (I consider it to be alpha... not yet beta), and where I have other applications that I may need to force quit at times, this is the ONLY application that crashes my G5! Keep Diskwarrior or your original Tiger install CD/DVD with Disk Utility by your side... you'll need it. Where are all the shareware developers for a Blackberry synch that actually works?

SRS iWOW Premium

****.

DCT  Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 at 10.4.8 with 4GB SDRAM. Version 1.0.3 works very well with 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.01. However, version 1.0.7 fails with 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.01. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get 1.03 again unless you were as lucky as I was to have saved a copy.

DCT  Excellent for version 1 (using iTunes 7 with MacOSX 10.4.7). However, an improvement would be welcome: Add additional "preset" options to iWow to match those offered by Apple iTunes and when an Apple iTunes preset "Equalizer" is selected, have iWow automatically adopt that equalizer preset.

DCT  After two attempts to install the plugin, it does not seem to work since the WordpressExport Tab selection does not show up under File > Export. My tab options are: Kodak Export, File Export, Web Page, Quicktime, SlideShowPro Export. I am using iPhoto 6.0.4 (305) on Mac OSX 10.4.7 on a Dual 2.5 GHz Power PC G5 with 4 GB DDR SDRAM. Where is the iPhoto bundle so I can check the bundle for the WordpressExport plugin? Any other suggestions for troubleshooting would be much appreciated. I am assuming that a system restart was not necessary.

DCT  Where does this plugin get installed? What is the actual name of the plugin after installation? Where exactly do I access the new panel from? How do I set the ftp to the WordPress server and appropriate directories (or is this simply a prep and export to my local disk for manual upload)? A little extra instructional information would be appreciated.

WORDPRESSEXPORT  I've looked into what you said and found a small bug that would have prevented the plugin tab displaying for some users. If you goto the site you'll find a download for 0.3b which fixes this problem. This *should* solve your problem. If it still does not work then please email me on the address given on the site and Ill try solve your specific problem. Let me know if this works :D

Feeder
Jan 26 2006
*****

DCT  This is the tool of choice for RSS feeds. I prefer Podcast Maker for podcast feeds (especially when feeding to iTunes). Podcast Maker does not do a very good job with RSS feeds outside of the iTunes shop (can't auto-generate .rss feeds) so Feeder fills the gap with perfection. Now, If I could find one tool that provides the best of Podcast submissions for iTunes as .xml, Podcast submissions for the rest of the world as .xml (yes, iTunes IS different), then be able to produce an RSS .rss feed, that would be heaven. In other words, I need the same tool to generate .rss, .xml and the unique iTunes .xml requirements in one tool and one pass. Neither Feeder nor Podcast Maker meet the need but together, I can piece it together with a little bubble gum and wires. I'm rating Feeder based solely on it's merits as an RSS feed tool.
