CUBITUS  I also have problems with 3.1.2 under SL. Now it won't quit unexpectedly (as 3.1 did) but I cannot edit auto-locate rules and some actions cannot be properly set.

CUBITUS  If you want to check your boot drive you need to boot from the DVD. If you want to work on a second HD you can start it as any other app without booting from the DVD.

CUBITUS  Yes I was able to create a bootable DVD that worked. You have to use the correct download link from the bundle info, not the 'download' link from MU main page.

CUBITUS  I acquired version 1 through a bundle. Version 2 came out a few weeks later as a paid upgrade. Even though I was bothered by the fact a paid upgrade was released just after a sale through a bundle I did try the demo for 2 to see if it was worth it and I got the same problem of not being able to revert back to version 1. I removed it from my system then.

Now, I was offered this upgrade for 6$ and I was tempted but these comments make me realize the company is still using the same tactics. Seems like a good product from a company that is good at alienating its customers...

CUBITUS  Thanks for the comparative review of word processors. This is what we're looking for in the comments on software.

CUBITUS  I haven't used Pathfinder in a while (I used it instead of the Finder until Leopard). It *seems* to me to be light in terms of new features making it worth a paid upgrade, although I may have missed something. I'm not sure I'll upgrade.

BBEdit

CUBITUS  This is the first version of BBEdit I won't buy. I'm now a Textmate person. TextMate is less expensive and its plugin architecture makes it many times more versatile than BBEdit. (http://macromates.com/)

CUBITUS  Drad, I'm not sure what your experience was with the software, but I'm very happy with it. Perhaps you should contact the developper. Noticed that he responded already, way to go.

CUBITUS  This is a great software, don't mind that last review. The docmentation is crystal clear, the program performs perfectly, with a precise interface. I used to not really understand what to do for backups, but with SuperDuper I feel safe for the first time in a long while. I tried to boot from the clone and it worked perfectly. Everything was there as expected.

MACNERD1984  Why ignore the last review - Because it's bad? I wouldn't cough for something that slow either. If it didn't work out for that guy it helps that he let us know. Reviews are supposed to be honest, not an excuse to big up you favourite developers.

*....

CUBITUS  I bought Popcorn as a software download and got a version of the product that wasn't the latest patch (1.0.2) and I cannot download the update to 1.0.3 from Roxio's site.

It's impossible to get support for this product. It's not listed in the support page, asking their automated web support result in the answer: "we can't answer questions about Popcorn" and there is no email contact for support. So I'm left with an unusable product. Waste of money.

Try DVD2oneX2 instead.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  "...and I cannot download the update to 1.0.3 from Roxio's site."

Why not? I just tried it, had no trouble accessing the download.
