COTTSER I was experiencing way too much slowness, instability, and crashing with Quicksilver. After a short adjustment period, I feel right at home with LaunchBar. LaunchBar has completely replaced my old clipboard manager, PTH Pasteboard Pro, which I never much liked anyway. I highly recommend flipping through the documentation, because there are tons of clever features hidden within this deceptive little gray bar. Like many of the best Mac apps, it can be as simple or as complex as you'd like it to be. LaunchBar's index (the catalog in Quicksilver's nomenclature) is much easier to work with and set up quite well out of the box. It also has much better options for keeping itself up to date. For example, when I mount a drive, LaunchBar sees it instantly — and I mean instantly. The app is rock-solid, and fast. Support is great, and there's a community of folks on the forums who want to make everything easier. For triggers, I'm using Spark (free). Bottom line: For those of you considering the switch from Quicksilver, dive in. 30 days is plenty of time to see if it's right for you. (Version 5.0.2) |
