CORTIG  I haven't yet had the new version in my hands for long, but so far it looks like a nice upgrade on the previous version. I especially like the integration in Mail.

CORTIG  The application has been working flawlessly for me. It is the fastest tool I’ve found to fix poorly-put together DivX and it has done a stellar job for me so far.

BTW, the application is donationware. I am always amazed (in the bad sense) to see how few people donate :-\

CORTIG  The application is working beautifully for me.

I used it already when it was in beta (and free during the beta) and immediately got a licence when it made it to 1.0.

I was able to correct a number of issues with Spanning Tools. Since then, my MobileMe syncing is much smoother and weird warnings I was getting all went away.

The application is a real blessing for me.

I haven't seen problems with memory on my Mac (but I immediately updated to 1.0.1 when it came out).

I find it a bit pricey, but at the end, it saved me from so many headaches that I think it was well worth the price.

CORTIG  Your instructions ask to install in /opt/local/lib which is not a standard destination on MacOS X distributions. Are you sure about the destination??

CORTIG  The best utility of its kind I have found so far. The clip-browser is by far my favorite, clearly taking it way ahead of the competition.

CORTIG  This is a MUST HAVE application. It's been around for ever and there sure is a good reaon for that. I can't believe Apple didn't simply acquire it to make it part of the System.

It has always been extremely stable for me and the Author constantly adds new features for Free!!

Installed on all the machines I lay a hand on…

Thanks,

CORTIG  Are you talking about MTR 2.6.6 or the (less advertised) version 3.0??

MacTheRipper 3.0 is tremendously improved over the somehow outdated version 2.

RIPIT  We regularly test troublesome discs against the latest version of MacTheRipper 3. We have a long list of titles that will fail on MTR during full disc extraction, but that RipIt can process without issue.

CORTIG  What's the relationship between this app and the one under the same name and doing the same thing created by The Litle Appfactory??

CORTIG  This is a nice iTunes visualizer, but the idea (not clearly indicated on the site) that I have to pay my tax every year to get the new point-release versions really doesn't do it with me.

Eudora tried that and it didn't do them much good.

I'd rather stick to the usual notion of getting the point-releases free (with the bugfixes) and paying for more important ugrades when they come out (and if I want to).

I renewed my licence a couple of times, but the scheme eventually got on my nerves.

JTHEISS  Ya I just let mine lapse too. Stupid to pay year after year for an iTunes visualizer. Too bad too. I really like WhiteCap and would have bought that too if I knew I didn't have to rebuy it every year.

CORTIG  Excellent spelling and grammar cehcker. Really good!!! I used to be a Correcteru 101 user. The 101 is more or less a thing of the past now and not only did Antidote surpass it's performances as a spelling and grammar checker, but it has an exceptional integration in most major software — and now even Office 2008.

Really good app!

Adobe Flash Player

CORTIG  Someone needs to tell the Adobe developers to stop messing up the permissions with every single one of their install.

Every time the same thing for years now. Every time Disk Utility has to fix tons of offset permissions after you run the installer.

DONMONTALVO  That's because Adobe doesn't seem to have the management discipline to stick to Apple Package Installer format for software distribution.

C'mon Adobe, get with the program. Those of us who manage large Mac environments should NOT have to snapshoot/package every single plugin update.

Maybe it's time to fire some of your management who don't GET IT.

Other than the installer application, the plugin seems extremely well made. So far no issues.

Thoth

CORTIG  The situation is explained on the site. The author had no choice but using .hqx (requirement for the hosting he got) and when Stuffit is set to "try to continue to expand" it chokes on the MacOS X .zip file.

The solution is simple: uncheck the option to try to continue expanding in Stuffit expander, double click the .hqx to get the .zip and then you can double-click the .zip to get the app.

A bit tedious, but obviously a bug (one more :-\ ) in Stuffit expander.

CORTIG  Very nice application. Though it is true that with a certain knowledge of the Terminal you could setup Postfix yourself, this applciation offers a very convenient front-end to activate and control everything from a clear and easy to use interface.

Well worth the investment IMVHO.

Disclaimer: I liked it enough to decide to devote some time participating in the localization of the app in French - though I have no other personnal interest in it.
