CALL ME YO DADDY I know we're all entitled to our opinion and it's very subject but for the life of me I can' figure out why some here consider Vuze 4 to be "bloated and ugly"? Vuze 4's redesign is anything but that. There aren't big and bulky round buttons all over the place (Firefox) but rather Vuze has a very clean and intuitive layout. It's a gorgeous Mac app. This version has made me a real fan. Vuze is a lot of fun and downloads torrents in a snap. As far as bloated is considered, it is quite snappy and responsive on my Mac and considering all that it is designed to do of course it is a larger bit torrent app than Limewire, uTorrent, Transmission or anything else out there for the Mac. Vuze is simple much more than just a plain and boring bit torrent app. I can't tell you how much I enjoy downloading a movie then firing it up in Vuze to watch it. That's a real nifty feature. Anyway Vuze 4 is hands down the best bit torrent app I have ever used with a very attractive and clean UI. (Version 4.2.0.8a)

STEVEN GOODHEART Couldn't agree more! I think the Vuze interface is great and very easy to use. Of course, compared to a minimalist interface like Transmission's, I suppose one could call it "bloated," but that seems unfair. The aspirations and uses of Vuze go *way* beyond that of the simple but powerful Transmission. I love them both, and use them for different reasons. Vuze gets 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. Apple Safari | Jul 8 2009 |
CALL ME YO DADDY I completely agree with you. Apple made a serious mistake in the UI department with Safari 4. I was greatly disappointed when I could no longer choose the elegant and much more useful aqua progress bar instead of a spinning indicator in the address bar. Also I loved having the chose between tabs at the top or bottom. Apple took all of that away with the final release. This is why so many people cling to Firefox because Mozilla believes in giving you a ton of choices. The Camifox theme and Stylish for Firefox gives me a very clean and more Mac like UI. Apple can keep it's Safari. (Version 4.0.2)

Safari AdBlock | May 16 2009 |
CALL ME YO DADDY So far I am very impressed with this updated version of Safari Adblock. I've tried other ad blockers for Safari and for some reason or another I just ended up disabling them. However, this is the best one by far. I love the fact that with just one click after adding the "AD" button to Safari I can disable it if I find it is causing a conflict at a site. It's pretty accurate in my limited testing. It uses the same filter list in Adblock Plus. I've only had to disable it at CNet's video page but doing so only required just one button click. This makes using Safari much more attractive and enjoyable. Please don't ever stop the development of this plugin. :-) (Version 0.4rc)

Firefox | Dec 8 2008 |
CALL ME YO DADDY This beta 2 version of Firefox 3.1 is awesome. The speed is definitely faster than Safari 3. Of course Safari 4 with Squirrelfish will likely retake the lead. But the finishing touch for me is this theme by falconer called Camifox. It has been updated specifically for this beta release and it is now almost identical to Camino in appearance. You'll also want to install the extension called Stylish so you can hide the ugly favicons in the bookmarks bar. falconer has also created a style for Stylish to hide the ugly favicons. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7527 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108 I think this is necessary because the default UI looks terrible on Mac OS X and feels like a port. These little touches have made Firefox much more native in feel to me and look a whole lot better in the process. (Version 3.1b2)

Apple Safari | Nov 15 2008 |
CALL ME YO DADDY I agree with Bill Dawson completely. My experience with Safari 3.2 has been the same. I have Glims, Inquisitor & SafariBlock while running a nightly build of Webkit and I have had no problems. Now that's not to say that these plugins cannot cause problems with a new release of Safari but my experience has been flawless. You guys having trouble might want to try disabling any plugins or hacks you have running and resetting Safari. If that doesn't work, try using the free Onyx program's Maintenance, Rebuilding & Cleaning features for your Mac. (Version 3.2)

Flock | Oct 15 2008 |
CALL ME YO DADDY So far the new Flock 2.0 is quite impressive. If you're in to Web 2.0 websites, then Flock is a must have. If you're not, stick with Firefox and save the unnecessary childish remarks. Overall, this browsers feels very much like Firefox 3 most because the two are extensible and use the same gecko rendering engine. Flock's default UI might not before everyone but there are two that I really enjoy that are made especially for Flock; Dublin and MyBlue. Both are available at Flock.com The one thing that needs immediate attention is that for some reason Flock 2.0 appears to be white or faded out in appearance. Leopard apps have a smooth metal look, not white which you saw in Tiger. The MyBlue theme seems to correct this but the default theme seems to have a background look such as when one app appears in front of the other. Other than this, Flock 2.0 is a great addition to the gecko based browsers. :) (Version 2.0)

CALL ME YO DADDY I think it's your comment that is a POS. Try telling that to the Mac users who were infected by the DNS-Trojan that slowed down their Macs to a crawl. While they were few in number, it still happened. All you have to do is just google "Mac DNS trojan". But what it really sounds like, is that you're either a very miserable person or just having a bad day. Cheer up, you're a Mac user, you have plenty to be happy about. :) (Version 1.1)

USB Overdrive X | Oct 4 2008 |
CALL ME YO DADDY USB Overdrive is truly a gem for the Mac community. The sensitivity levels in Apple's Mighty Mouse is absolutely horrible. It often feels like the mouse is being dragged thru mud. Why Apple has chosen this behavior with no way to increase sensitivity levels is mind boggling. The Mighty Mouse is a good mouse overall but USB Overdrive makes it perfect. I was using a Microsoft mouse which was ok but right clicking was glitchy and Microsoft no longer supports that mouse on a Mac. I'd like to thank the developer for this and I will definitely purchase this. The only thing I would like to see improved is being able to adjust the speed of the scroll ball. Right now I am using the mouse at 180 dpi which is fast but has made the scroll ball too fast. Other than that everything else seems to be just fine. (Version 10.4.8)

Opera | Sep 10 2008 |
CALL ME YO DADDY Besides being snail slow on my relatively new MacBook, the UI is ABSOLUTELY grotesque and horrific in a Mac environment. In light of IE 8, Google Chrome, Safari 4 which is all on the way and Trace Monkey, which is a new Java Script rendering technology in Firefox that is even faster than Google Chrome, I can't see Opera surviving for very long. Opera STILL to this day has not even achieved a 1% market share and with the renewed browser wars in full swing, it likely never will. It's sad because Opera use to boast it's self as being the fastest browser available but that boast has long been silenced. R.I.P. Opera (+_ +) (Version 9.60b1)

CALL ME YO DADDY Everybody has a right to make a living but if you must have an AV, iAntivirus by PCTools is free for home users. It's in beta but it is backed and developed by a multi-million dollar company that so far has produced a pretty impressive AV for the Mac that is light on system resources and runs quietly in the background. There is just no way one can justify spending $44.95 for this, especially since it uses the FREE ClamX engine! (Version 0.9)

Opera | Jun 12 2008 |
CALL ME YO DADDY Now I understand why Opera only has less than a 1% market share. Opera use to be a good browser about a year ago. This new interface has been designed to fit into the Vista environment. The native theme for the Mac is still too Window-ish. I could live with that I suppose but Opera is no longer the fastest browser by far. That was something Opera use to be a able to boast. After installing it and using it, the speed differences between Firefox 3 and Safari was very obvious. Opera was slow and rendering some pages poorly. What a far cry from what Opera use to be like. I guess the developers took this browser as far as they could. And if you think this is just my exclusive opinion, just visit the Opera labs blog and take a look at the comments of Opera fans. Many are not pleased with this new release. Anyway I'm quite happy with the nightly builds of Webkit, Saft and Inquisitor plugins along with NightShift. Unlike Opera the nightly builds of Webkit are incredibly fast, stable and very polished. (Version 9.5)

What version of Mac OS X are you using, Tiger or Leopard? Onyx continues to be rock solid for me with no bugs or errors. The thing I noticed and liked the most about this new release is that Onyx no longer takes a long time to clean out my computer when using the automation feature. I also have MacPilot 3.0 but I find Onyx's user interface is more organized and simplified. It also does a better job at cleaning my system than MacPilot 3.0. Expert from MacUser: You are required to launch Terminal (which can be found safely nestled within /Applications/Utilities) and enter this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true Once you hit return and relaunch Safari, you’ll find that it will never steer from the noble path of the single window web browser now, no matter how trying the circumstances.
