CALIGULA  Alright macgeek914,

this will be my last word about it.

This is what happend to me: I wrote a letter to someone, 4 pages, decypted it with your _non-beta app_, deleted the original file cause it was a private letter, tried to open the encrypted file hours later at home to print it, - and could'nt open it anymore. So I lost my work and I wasn't in the best mood while I wrote my review.

I know that some files decrypt well, I tried it before, but some files don't.

So if you had feedbacks that there are problems with your app I think _you_ should warn your expected users about that, criticizing reviews isn't the right way you should handle that problem imho.

I'm not your enemy, I just don't like the risks your app brings to the users.

And please let _me_ choose if I want to spent the time to help you to bugfix your app, or just warn other users. I'm not a member of your team, freeware or not.

You can talk to the admin if you don't want to see negative reviews of your app here, maybe he will delete it for your pleasure.

But think of it.

Peace macgeek914.

MACGEEK914  I'm sorry you had those issues with the letter, and I found the cause of the issue in the program code. I am working on a fix and 1.3 will be out soon!

Sorry you lost the letter, have a nice day.

CALIGULA  Is this better than all the other MPEG-4 codecs? Is it faster, or what else?

*....

CALIGULA  What is this?

An unsecure security app?

Most files I tested won't decrypt.

went to the best place for it: the trash...

MACGEEK914  You could at least consider talking to us about how you are producing the problems before rating it poorly. That's a shame...

CALIGULA  Hi ECHOROB,

to get Lame V0 just put the "Target Quality slider to the right (260 kbps) till you see 0.0...

But shouldn't there be a "Very high/insane (-q 0)" at the Overall Quality popup-menu???

Don't know LAME is a bit confusing, maybe the developer will answer this here for all his users.

By the way: for my ears (using good AKG- or Sennheiser-headphones) Lame VBR new, High (-q2), -V 0.0 - which gives files with around 180-220 kbps - sounds as good as 256 kbps AAC or 320 kbps CBR, - but gives much smaller filesizes.

ECHOROB  -q 2 is the highest setting. It's advised not to use q 0 i don't know why though a trip to the hydrogenAudio forums would answer that.

Thanks for you help :D

ECHOROB  Yea V0 to me perfect enough I have an extremely expensive hi FI set up and im perfectly happy with Lame V0 i don't see the point of going lossless you just don't get an benefits. V0 is pretty much transparent 100%.

MDEWAKANTON  Here's why -q 0 is not recommended:

"-q 2: recommended. Same as -h. -q 0 and -q 1 are slow and may not produce significantly higher quality"

from http://lame.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/lame/lame/USAGE

MDEWAKANTON  Sorry, can't edit post.

@ Caligula: referring to "insane" you have in mind, I assume, the CBR encoding mode. If you choose this mode from dropdown menu under Prefs. > LAME, you can rip at 320 kbps. Not in VBR mode though.

MPlayer OSX Extended
Aug 18 2008
***..

CALIGULA  Nice, but it needs some further work,

- It takes 60 seconds to load a movie-file (avi),

- in fullscreen mode I lose my mousepointer

- I get dropped frames on 640x480 mp4-files

- There is no floating controller in fullscreen mode

VLC makes other problems but overall it is more stable and is faster at opening and no dropped frames.

For now I stay with VLC.

STTZ  The first time mplayer open, fontconfig needs to build it's font cache. This can take up to a minute but has to be done only the first time.

Fullscreen controls have been requested several times and I'll try to find a good way to implement it.
