CV186  "bz2" is a B-Zip compressed file. But the download is NOT a compressed file ... just remove the ".bz2" so it ends in ".dmg" and it should mount just fine.

CV186  Must add my voice to everyone else complaining about this software developer.

The software is very good since around version 3.0, but their support is non-existent. I've been a registered user since Feb 2005, but have been unable to use it since May 2006 because they DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS.

No user's registration code worked after version 3.0.8, and the company didn't reply to complaints from ANY registered user after 3.0.9 was released. Even after sending dozens and dozens of e-mails asking how to get my old, fully-paid registrations to be accepted, I've never heard back from the company, the software engineer, their SUPPORT page, or any of the e-mails I can find.

Stay away from this company!

MACUPDATE ADMIN  The issue is under investigation, we have sent emails to the developer, attempting to find what the developer's response is to these complaints.

CV186  There should be a more recent REVIEW here - so here it is.

I've looked at many of the free and cheap-ware backup and "Sync" facilities that are around and this is by far the best of all, and equally free.

The developer is incredbily responsive to suggestions and advice, and a couple of times has posted rapid upgrades to fix personal problems.

Five stars from me on all fronts.

CV186  3.0.3b7 wouldn't work in FILE dialogs on my system (10.4.8 MacIntel) so I wrote an email to the developer. He responded a few hours later, and provided a REVISED VERSION a short while later that workrf perfectly. (3.0.3b7.1)

This developer deserves massive kudos, and has earned my undying support!

CV186  The Apple Spirit is not only "beauty" but also user choice. With choice comes responsibility, so if you truly detest the graphics of such a GREAT program, change them.

If it's the program and document icons that offend your sensibility, use CandyBar or similar. [http://panic.com/candybar/]

If it's the "no open document" picture that offends, find "Smultron" in the Finder, control-click, "Show Package Contents". Go to "Smultron" -> "Contents" -> "Resources"-> "SMLMainIcon512.png". Replace that file with a 512x512 PNG graphic of your choice.

CV186  Fantastic app. Streamlined, effective and FREE. Only complaint is that it doesn't seem to handle encrypted archives well, and I've had to resort to Stuffit Expander for most encrypted decodes.

CV186  Fantastic app that fills the gap Stuffit has made for itself. It's not always successful at expanding encrypted archives - either RAR or SIT. But adding SITX to the arsenal would earn the author a sainthood.

iKey
Jun 16 2006

CV186  In response to claims further down that there are "no other universal launchers" ... both Butler and QuickSilver are (1) still under active development, (2) both work better than iKey, (3) are Universal Binary, (4) are very stable, and (5) they're both FREE!

Although not targeted as simple key app-launchers (like iKey) they both serve that function as well as a host of others. I've tried both and they each seem exceptionally stable, though Butler fits my needs a bit better.

Previously I was a registered user of iKey version 1.x, but dropped it on the disastrous version 2 release. I then used Keyboard Maestro, which was brilliant and as solid as a rock, but development seems stalled and there's no sign of a Universal binary version.
