BRUCE WISZ  After installing APE 8 on my Mac, I double-clicked on the app icon and got an error message. Did a restart, reopened it and got the same message. Had to call Customer Support who sent me to Tech Support. The error code listed was, I believe 150:30. Did what they said and it started up like it should.

BRUCE WISZ  I have installed the new Safari 4.0 beta. Every time I get a new email, Mail quits and gives me a Problem Report. It just started this morning.

BRUCE WISZ  It works where as Apple's built-in stock tracker doesn't show the Dow Jones Industrials or the NASDAQ anymore. Looks like their abbreviations changed.

BRUCE WISZ  I have changed the system font to 15 point. Upon restart it returns to 11 point. Also, after the first startup I can't access the "i" to change preferences.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  You might try deleting the MagiCal .plist file. It is named: com.charcoaldesign.magical.plist

BRUCE WISZ  It worked. Thanks. Now my question is - should I leave it checked all the time and if so, what possible ramifications could it have?

BRUCE WISZ  I have tried to download the R6 update from Macupdate and Versiontracker and all I get is:

Safari canÕt open the page.

Safari canÕt open the page Òftp://ftp.quicken.com/pub/quicken/Qkn_2006_R6_Updater.hqxÓ. The error was: Òunknown errorÓ (NSURLErrorDomain:-1) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

Anyone know how to d/l the update?

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Have you enabled 'passive' mode for FTP in Network preferences under the Proxies tab? The download is from an Intuit FTP server...

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Ok, go to System Preferences, select 'Network'.

Then in the Network prefs window, select your network connection (Show: Built-in Ethernet, in my case)

Then click on the Proxies tab.

See near the bottom of the window, "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)"

That box should be "checked".

MACUPDATE ADMIN  All this does is allow ftp transactions to play nice with your OS X firewall (firewall is enabled by default).

Should leave it checked all the time, no worries whatsoever.
